Reluctantly, Xiao Fu handed him the cloth, glancing back at Shen Roujia several times as she left.

Xu Zening watched Shen Roujia’s face for a moment before gently replacing the cloth on her forehead. The heat radiating from her skin was evident, and he hesitated before placing two fingers on the spot where the Imperial Physician had taken her pulse earlier.

But the moment he touched her wrist, his eyes widened in shock. “This...”

Just then, Shen Roujia stirred and slowly opened her eyes. Xu Zening quickly withdrew his hand and leaned closer to ask, “How do you feel now?”

Shen Roujia, still groggy, felt like her entire body had been run over by a cart. “Mmm, I’m fine.”

She blinked up at Xu Zening, her voice hoarse. “What happened to me?”

Without thinking, Xu Zening replied, “You fainted.”

Shen Roujia looked at his serious expression, puzzled. “Why do you look so worried?”

Xu Zening cleared his throat. “It’s nothing. If you still feel unwell, I’ll call the Imperial Physician again.”

Shen Roujia waved her hand dismissively. “I’m just a bit tired, nothing more.”

Then, as if remembering something, she suddenly exclaimed, “Oh no, the soup I was making!”

Xu Zening quickly stopped her from getting up. “You’re still thinking about soup at a time like this? Just rest.”

Shen Roujia huffed. “That soup was for you. Drink it if you want, I don’t care.”

Xu Zening paused, taken aback. “Oh, I see. It tasted pretty good. I thought it was made by one of the palace chefs.”

Shen Roujia’s face lit up with surprise. “You tried it already? Don’t lie to me!”
