Tu Lie hesitated, reaching out to stop Shen Roujia, but she had already dashed towards the bushes.
Three or four young wolf cubs cautiously poked their heads out, nervously watching their surroundings.
Shen Roujia didn’t see their parents around, so it seemed these cubs had snuck out to find her. 𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎
By now, Shen Roujia was used to this. After all, these were the fiercest animals on the grasslands, not easily threatened by minor dangers.
Realizing this, Shen Roujia turned to seek Tu Lie’s opinion. “Big Brother?”
Tu Lie knew how much Shen Roujia loved animals, but these were wolves—wild and untamable.
“These are wolf cubs. What if they scare the people in the tribe?”
Shen Roujia pouted regretfully, preparing to send the cubs back.
The young wolves whimpered, reluctant to leave.
After some nudging among themselves, they pushed one of their own towards Shen Roujia and then reluctantly left.
Only then did Shen Roujia notice the small, silver-white wolf cub, weak and barely able to open its eyes.
Glancing at its hind legs, she saw they were wounded, likely pricked by thorns, and it looked extremely painful.
Understanding the cubs’ intention, Shen Roujia realized they wanted her to save the injured little one, who was already losing too much blood.
Gently stroking the cub, Shen Roujia said to Tu Lie, “Big Brother, it’s so pitiful. Who knows if it can even make it back to its parents...”
Tu Lie sighed. At times, he found his sister’s heart to be made of stone, yet other times, her blind kindness was deeply compelling.
Shen Roujia’s actions naturally won his approval. “I have some golden wound medicine and herbs for the falcon. I’ll gather them and bring them to you. Just keep it hidden so no one else finds out.”
