Chapter 991: Chapter 911 This is the Secret

Julius Reed had never imagined that things would become so complicated.

Fortunately, Quella Radcliffe had no problems.

In the three years he lived with the Radcliffe Family, he had never noticed anything peculiar about the clan.

Not until today, when report after report was laid out before him.

The ironclad facts were right in front of his eyes.

Only then did Julius Reed accept the truth he had long suspected.

When he had married into the Radcliffe Family, it had all been arranged.

An arrangement with ulterior motives.

"My lord, what do you plan to do?"

The Red Widow approached Julius Reed with a smile, "As for Madam Radcliffe’s tomb, I’ve dug it up, and it’s empty. There’s never been a burial there, not even an urn."

"Keep investigating! We must get to the bottom of this!"

Julius Reed clenched the report in his right hand, raising his head to look at the night sky.

Four years ago, his amnesia had become more confusing than ever.

Hiss!

He took a deep breath, feeling an excruciating headache.

"Are you alright?"

The Red Widow asked with a hint of concern, "In Gonzalez City, there are many forces at play. You must be careful."

"I know."

Julius Reed nodded, handing the report back to the Red Widow, "We have to dig deep, uncover everything about the Radcliffe ancestors!"

"Don’t worry, I’ll do my best."

The Red Widow took the report and after a moment of silence, said softly, "Take care of yourself."

After speaking, she vanished into the night as she had arrived.

In the pitch-black night, Julius Reed stood alone under the decrepit old building, appearing extremely lonely.

He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, staring intently into the sky.

This posture, he maintained for a full half-hour.

After half an hour, he took out his phone and called Aron Jackson, "Think of a way to get the places in The North Sea where key individuals have stayed to the ears of Thunderpeak Hall. I need chaos, for only in chaos will there be a chance!"

"Understood!"

On the other end of the phone, Aron Jackson’s reply was resolute.

Others mistook him for Noam Martin and weren’t guarded.

Through observations over these days, Aron Jackson had already pinpointed who were from The North Sea.

He quickly drafted a list and handed it to Orren Beaumont.

In Thunderpeak Hall, only Orren Beaumont had the contacts.

But some people, Aron Jackson couldn’t figure out.

He needed to capture the Young master or one of the Young master’s trusted employees.

At that moment.

At the center of Gonzalez City Hospital.

Burl Radcliffe lay in the hospital bed, with Knox Ridge kneeling at the bedside, her leg wrapped in bandages.

Her face was pale, indicating she hadn’t been spared a fright.

Quella Radcliffe sat beside Burl Radcliffe, with Cosmo standing at the door.

The guards who had been eliminated earlier had been collected and taken away by Aron Jackson’s faithful men.

The people in the corridor had all been replaced.

"Young master, I am aware that Quella Radcliffe holds the secret of the Divine Dragon Tripod. Also, there is a clue."

Standing by the bed, Aron Jackson called the mysterious number, "Julius Reed has encountered an enemy and has been talking a lot with Quella Radcliffe since coming to the hospital. Should we take action?"

"No way!"

The voice on the phone was gloomy but carried a hint of excitement, "We must not startle the snake! Wait at the hospital; I’ll send someone immediately to see if we can get something valuable."

"I will wait for you."

After hanging up, Aron Jackson gave Cosmo a nod, "Someone is coming, and we..."

"We’ll resort to brutal interrogation to get the list of people from The North Sea. As long as they exist, they will always be a thorn in our side."

As Cosmo spoke, her voice was filled with murderous intent.

To the world, she might be known as the Empress of Martial Arts, but her heart had always held tremendous respect for her master.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have set aside all her glory and power to become a personal bodyguard.

Half an hour later, a man with four employees, looking travel-worn, arrived in the ward.

When he entered, he was visibly taken aback.

"Where are they?"

The man looked at Cosmo and felt something was off. Wasn’t someone who was supposed to be disguised as a nurse supposed to be standing here?

Yet, why was it someone he didn’t recognize?

"Miss Radcliffe."

However, he promptly turned to Quella Radcliffe with a smile.

"Who are you..."

Quella Radcliffe feigned confusion, "I don’t think I know you."

"Hello, we are friends of Mr. Reed. He is in some trouble now and asked us to come protect you," the man replied politely with a smile. "If you don’t believe me, you can ask Mr. Jackson and your father."

He had already conspired with Aron Jackson to pretend he was Julius Reed’s friend, hoping to extract some information from Quella Radcliffe’s lips.

"Indeed, they are Mr. Reed’s most private bodyguards," said Aron Jackson.

"During my illness, I relied entirely on their protection."

Burl Radcliffe chimed in agreement.

"But how come I’ve never seen them?"

Quella Radcliffe sized up the group: "What kind of friends are you to Julius Reed?"

"Best friends! We’ve always protected Mr. Reed from the shadows, never revealing ourselves. Had it not been for this great peril, we would never have come forth."

As he spoke, the man’s brow furrowed slightly, his face filled with a serious expression: "This time, I don’t know if Mr. Reed will be able to escape unharmed."

"What kind of peril?"

Quella Radcliffe cooperated and asked, "Is it serious?"

"Very serious!"

The man exhaled deeply and spoke gravely: "It’s precisely because of this that we’ve come to protect you personally. Mr. Reed’s exact words were, should he unfortunately be killed, he hopes you would take his secret and flee far away, never to tell another soul!"

"Okay, I understand!"

Quella Radcliffe nodded.

The room fell into an eerie silence.

Ding-ling-ling!

Just then, the man’s phone rang.

He activated the speaker.

Everyone pricked their ears, listening intently.

"Julius Reed is in my hands. If you don’t want him dead, hand over the Divine Dragon Tripod and its secrets."

The voice on the other end was incredibly deep.

"You... you’ve captured Mr. Reed?"

The man’s face changed dramatically, and he roared furiously: "Release him at once, or even in death, I will kill you!"

As he spoke, the man’s eyes turned bloodshot, and his colleagues behind him were too flustered to act.

Every face bore an expression of urgency.

"Is that so? Then you might as well look. If I don’t get the secret within a minute, be ready to collect a corpse."

"Ah..."

A scream of agony came through the phone.

"I am torturing him little by little..."

"Miss Radcliffe, please save Mr. Reed!"

Thump!

Several people kneeled before Quella Radcliffe, their eyes filled with pleading.

Quella Radcliffe couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.

She had to admit, these people were truly skilled actors.

And that scream, it sounded just like Julius Reed.

If she hadn’t been forewarned, she might have believed it was real in her panic.

"I’ll give Brother Davenport a call!"

Without waiting for Quella Radcliffe to act, the man took a colleague’s phone and dialed the number.

Sure enough.

Another phone in the room started to ring.

Click!

The phone slipped from the man’s hand, his eyes wide in shock.

"You have half a minute left..."

The voice on the other end of the phone came through again.

"Fine, I’ll tell you!" Quella Radcliffe said with a smile.

As soon as she spoke, everyone’s eyes widened, their ears straining to hear.

"But Julius Reed had a dying wish, preferring death over betrayal."

Quella Radcliffe spoke with resolve: "If Julius Reed dies, I’ll join him. After I tell you the secret, remember to avenge us both."

Having said that, she snatched the phone away.

And hung up.

The people in the room had hopeful expressions in their eyes.

"Rest assured, we will definitely avenge Mr. Reed!" said the man, shouting excitedly.

"Very good."

Cosmo spread his palm and said indifferently, "Look, this is the secret."

PS: I’m tired.

Can’t keep my eyes open.

Going to bed early.

Constantly staying up late is taking its toll on my body.

I’ll try to update more tomorrow.

Going to bed at 3 AM every night, my health is getting worse.

Goodnight.
