It was Taylor’s voice!

Daniel was taken aback by the abrupt sound.

Clearly, Taylor had encountered some calamity, possibly related to the Ghoul they had mentioned!

What on earth was a Ghoul?

It sounded like a lethal creature!

Daniel stood on the stone, wavering.

He wanted to step on it and find out what was happening, yet he feared encountering a monster he could not handle.

As he hesitated, Hols’s shrill scream echoed once again.

Without any second thought, Daniel stomped on the stone.

The hard stone collapsed instantly.

Boom!

The room started to tremble again.

Daniel retreated quickly, watching the ground beneath him where the sound of gears and chains could be heard.

The originally tight and seamless stone floor split open.

The room below revealed itself.

The height of the room was not terrifying, at most five meters.

Daniel didn’t rush to jump down, cautiously surveying the situation.

Soon, his gaze tightened, and he quickly pulled out the silver Desert Eagle.

On the ground of the room below, he found two large puddles of blood.

The amount of blood was alarmingly large, splattered all around, even some of the nearby walls were sprayed with it.

Among the blood were pieces of shredded bones and flesh, as well as torn black fabric.

Those pieces of flesh and bone looked like the remains of food left by a wild beast, marked with terrifying bite traces.

Daniel recognized it instantly; the materials were the same as the black tactical suits worn by Hols and Taylor.

Apparently, one or even both of them had been attacked by an unknown creature.

Daniel found it strange, what kind of creature could live in this pyramid?

Bear in mind, this was deep in the desert, a place without water sources for miles around, not suitable for any creature to live.

At that moment, the satellite phone in Daniel’s pocket rang.

Afraid the noise might attract the terrifying creature, he quickly hung up, and just to be on the safe side, removed the battery and stashed it in his pocket.

Daniel then carefully observed the traces left on the ground.

The marks on the fabric fragments were not messy like those caused by biting; they appeared to be caused by some sharp weapon.

A beast wouldn’t use sharp blades.

With a stern expression, Daniel felt as if someone was lurking in the shadows.

He suddenly thought that leaving here might be the most appropriate choice right now.

Just then, there were faint footsteps coming from behind Daniel.

He quickly turned around, pointing his gun back, and exclaimed with surprise, "Hols?"

The footsteps indeed belonged to Hols.

But Hols was injured at the moment, his left arm was wrapped in a bandage that had been dyed red with blood.

He put his right hand to his lips, signaling silence.

Daniel frowned, filled with puzzlement.

Why was Hols unharmed, and how had he escaped and appeared behind him?

Hols walked up to Daniel, lowered his voice to a whisper, and said, "Taylor... was eaten..."

Despite being prepared, Daniel still felt a shiver down his spine when he heard this.

From the moment the scream was heard to when he stepped on the stone and opened the passage, only a few minutes had passed.

Taylor was well over one meter eighty, strongly built.

For a human of such size to be eaten down to bits and pieces of flesh and bone in such a short time was horrifying.

Daniel asked in a low voice, "What ate him?"

Hols shook his head, a hint of fear on his face, "A dog, no!"

"Maybe a human!"

Daniel’s eyebrows furrowed again, "What exactly was it?"

There’s a significant difference between a dog and a human; Hols couldn’t possibly have mistaken it.

Moreover, if it was just a dog, it couldn’t have devoured Taylor so cleanly and quickly.

The bloodstains on the ground didn’t have dragging marks, so there was no possibility that the body was carried away.

But if it was a human...

Daniel quickly shook his head.

If it was a human, that would be too horrifying.

Could it be some sort of zombie creature like in the movies?

But that would be too absurd.

Just as Hols was about to respond, Daniel suddenly heard a noise. He swiftly covered Hols’ mouth with his hand, and both of them stared fearfully at the source of the sound.

A shadowy figure appeared below.

The figure was curled up, crawling on the ground on all fours like a dog.

What was terrifying was that the creature’s limbs were like human arms and legs.

Its head too was not unlike a human’s, but its skin was rotting, continuously dripping with a black viscous fluid.

Utterly horrifying!

The creature was sniffing around the room like a dog.

Daniel held his breath, daring not even to exhale, as he tightly clamped a hand over Hols’ mouth.

Even though his face was turning red from the strain, he didn’t dare to loosen his grip.

They didn’t know the creature’s abilities, and being sniffed out was not a good thing.

The creature was directly beneath them, its head constantly turning with a creaking noise.

Under Daniel and Hols’ gaze, the creature’s head twisted 90 degrees from bottom to top, its hollow eyes staring right back at them.

An unspeakable fear washed over their minds like a tidal wave.

Staring at a monster of this nature, even the bravest man would tremble in fear.

The creature fixed its gaze on Daniel and Hols and then suddenly opened its mouth wide, letting out a deafening roar, "Roar——!!!"

The next moment, it twisted its body in the same direction as its head, retreated slightly as if gathering strength, and leaped right in front of Daniel.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Daniel decisively pulled the trigger, the deafening gunshots instantly drowning out the creature’s roar.

The muzzle flashed as the bullets penetrated the creature’s body, black blood splattering all over, causing substantial damage.

Daniel felt a surge of relief.

What’s terrifying isn’t the monster, but the bullets not hurting it.

Since the gun could cause it harm, then there was nothing to fear.

If one shot isn’t enough, two shots; if two shots aren’t enough, three shots; if three shots aren’t enough, then a hundred shots!

After all, my high-tech gun has infinite bullets, you think I can’t shoot you dead?!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The bullets flew wildly, and the hit creature howled in pain.

Finally, with a screech, it fell right off the edge of the platform. 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Daniel leaned over to look and saw the monster still huffing hot air. He raised his gun and fired two more rounds.

Hols stood behind him, disbelief in his eyes as he gazed at the dead monster, then back at Daniel, "You actually killed it?"

Daniel turned around, holstering his gun, "If you’d fought back earlier, perhaps Taylor wouldn’t have had to die."

Hols immediately retorted, "In the pyramid, they are unkillable."

As he said this, the sound of bones creaking emanated from below.

Daniel turned back around, only to see the creature that was just at death’s door now standing back up.

Despite being soaked in blood, all its wounds had disappeared. It appeared completely healed, its eyes full of rage as it roared skywards.

"Roar——!!!"

Daniel whirled around, lifting his leg as he shouted, "Run!!!"

It was too terrifying!

He had clearly hurt it, and had confirmed it had fallen to the ground lifeless.

Yet in less than a minute, it had somehow come back to life.

What was this, some kind of resurrection armor?

Daniel ran out of the room, recalling the blocked passageway, and veered left towards the deeper end.

Hols followed closely, constantly yelling, "Slow down, wait for me!"

Daniel paid him no mind. In situations like this, it was the faster runner who survived!

Besides, Daniel was confident in his physical fitness. Not just Hols, even the creature might not be able to catch up with him.

However, just as Daniel reached the end of the path, things took a shocking turn.

A shadow rapidly lunged towards him from the corridor ahead.

Before Daniel could react, he saw the creature’s emotionless, evil eyes.

The monster had somehow gotten ahead of him!

How was this possible?!

Daniel was taken aback, were there other passages in the pyramid?

But he soon realized this wasn’t the case, as the sounds of Hols’ cursing and the creature’s howling came from behind him.

"Run!"

"Why aren’t you running?!"

Hols had barely finished speaking when his face drained of color.

Daniel gave a bitter smile, asking, "Are there many more creatures like this in the pyramid?"

Hols came up behind Daniel, panting heavily, "According to ancient texts, there should be twelve of these Ghouls."

Daniel clenched his teeth, mentally cursing.

Coming here was a terrible decision!

In the narrow passageway, caught between creatures front and back.

All Daniel could do was take the offensive, "You have a gun too, hold off the one behind us. Once I deal with this one, I’ll come help!"

At that moment, the Ghoul in front roared angrily, rushing towards him.

Daniel swiftly raised his gun and pulled the trigger.

Boom!

The flash illuminated the whole passage, the bullet hitting the Ghoul square in the head.

But it only slowed the creature momentarily before it charged at him again.

Daniel fired shot after shot, bullets flying out rapidly.

Each one hit the Ghoul precisely.

While firing, Daniel was also counting in his mind.

Eight, nine, ten...

The fifteenth shot!

With a howl, the Ghoul fell to the ground.

To briefly kill a Ghoul, it took fifteen shots!
