Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed from the corridor outside.
What was that?!
Daniel quickly moved to stand against the wall, his hand gripping his Desert Eagle, ready for whatever was coming.
Could it be another Ghoul?
Judging from the sound, it seemed to be just one.
But if he fired his gun, the noise would likely attract more Ghouls.
Who knew how many times the pyramid could resurrect him, or what kind of price he’d have to pay for each resurrection?
He still didn’t know, so he tried to avoid combat whenever possible.
The footsteps grew closer, then abruptly stopped.
Daniel tensed, his entire body cold. His gun aimed at the entrance, ready to fire at the Ghoul the moment it entered.
But when the figure appeared, Daniel froze.
A woman dressed in black professional attire stepped into his sight.
To his surprise, it wasn’t a Ghoul or any other person - it was Rachel!
How could she be here?
Confused, Daniel convinced himself that the Rachel in front of him must be an illusion, another trick by the pyramid.
However, Rachel walked straight up to him and smiled slightly, "Didn’t Sophia come with you?"
With that one sentence, Daniel started to doubt his initial thought.
If this was an illusion, it shouldn’t have memories of Sophia, unless the pyramid was even more bizarre than he thought.
But looking at Rachel’s face, Daniel started to lose himself.
Her appearance, gaze, demeanor - all were identical to Rachel’s.
She was as stunning as ever, even excessively beautiful.
Perhaps due to his longing for Rachel, Daniel had no more doubts.
He firmly believed that the Rachel in front of him was the real deal.
Seeing Daniel silent, Rachel pouted and asked, "What’s the matter? You can’t bother talking to me after a few days?" "You’re such a jerk, I really misjudged you!"

In Daniel’s horrified gaze, slender maggots, that seemed stained with blood, began to crawl out of the cracks on ’Rachel’s’ face.
What scared him the most was that inside ’Rachel’s’ gaping maw, there was another mouth filled with folds!
That mouth was also roaring, and the terrifying shriek sprayed out an extremely foul smell. The breath washed over Daniel’s entire face.
Disgust and fear rushed in like a tidal wave, sweeping over Daniel in an instant.
His body stiffened unavoidably, his head buzzing with emptiness, the threat of death looming.
The two superimposed gaping mouths grew incredibly large, immediately engulfing Daniel whole.

Daniel opened his eyes sharply, his hair standing on end.
He greedily inhaled the air, his eyes filled with fear.
After a glance around, he found himself in an empty stone-walled room, with a small door facing him that one could bend down to go through.
It was strikingly similar to the room where he encountered the monster.
What happened?!
Wasn’t I eaten by the monster?!
Was it all just a dream?
Daniel was extremely confused about the situation before him.
He touched himself, everything was still there. He pulled out the compass and took a look.
The pointer was pointing to the right of the entrance.
It was clear that his current room was in the same location as the previous one.
Perhaps, he had just mysteriously resurrected again.
Thinking the monster might be nearby, Daniel planned to leave the room as soon as possible.
Otherwise, if he was caught by the monster again, it would mean certain death.
Just as he was about to move, there were dull footsteps coming from the corridor outside the door.

They sounded very familiar, just like the monster’s footsteps!

He was eaten again.
