The sound on a book being closed sounded as the figure of a young man could be observed with a look of intrigue on his face.

The books in this library were of top notch quality and provided systemic knowledge of events that had happened not just now, but in the times of Antiquity and the likes.

However, Leon was still a bit dissatisfied by what he saw. There were too many irrelevant subjects in these books....irrelevant to Leon that is. They contained the culture of kingdoms, Dukedoms and powers that had emerged in the past century, their way of life and when they fell.

This was useful information for a random seeker of knowledge, but Leon wanted something deeper. Something that would shape his next moves.

"Hmmm down there" slowly Leon’s eyes panned to the pit beneath him. There seemed to be levels in this library as he could see several figures down on the pit reading books.

The library extended downwards, and from the population of people down below, it seemed like it was exclusive information.

(That’s where I need to be)

Leon thought in his mind then looked around to see where the young lady who had led him here was.

"Hmm so confusing" the young lady whom had led Leon to the history section frowned in annoyance as she stared helplessly at a scroll before her.

She was called Elara, and she was an apprentice librarian of the library of Xion. As such she had a bulk load of responsibility, that included leading knowledge seekers and tourists around the library and maintaining the general ambience of the library.

However, it didn’t just stop there. She also beared the responsibility of seeking knowledge herself. To better help the library goers she needed to be more knowledgeable than them in an array of topics. So she strived ever so hard to improve herself.

Recently, she had been charged by the head librarian to find the answer to a question that had plagued the greatest minds in finor world for the longest Time.....it sounded like an absurd task for a layman, but she had to do it.

"Hmmm, Karl Zinx. Very interesting state of mind that man is...though I would say he’s quite lacking"

While Elara was engrossed in the writings on the scroll, a voice echoed behind her causing her to flinch.

"You...." looking at the figure looming over her, she frowned deeply.

It was Leon.

"Yes yes, it’s me. I’m done with my research over there but I couldn’t help but wonder what you were reading so I took a peek. My apologies" Leon placed his hand on his chest and apologised to Elara for startling her at this moment. 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Ohhh, that’s good" hearing Leon’s words, Elara was a bit stunned. He was done with his research? She could swear that it hadn’t been up to 30 minutes.....how was he done? Or was he playing tricks on her?

"Karl Zinx is a very interesting figure though, but it seems to me that he’s not.....how will I put it? Committed?" Leon continued speaking.

Even though he was busy half the time, Leon still took the time to brush up on his knowledge of the philosophical discuss in this world and was happy to see that they weren’t that much different from his old world.

This is, except for the occasional racist commentary here and there.

"That’s not funny, lord Karl is one of the most prominent philosophers of not just here, but the whole finor world. Who are you to speak on his Committment to the field of philosophy?" Elara spoke with a clear hint of disdain.

This kid who knew nothing of the art of literature and scholarship was criticising the Lord Karl Zinx? This was one of the main mind that shape the school of thought. How dare him?

"No don’t get me wrong, he’s not stupid or anything. In fact I think his kind of reasoning is very unique and innovative....but I fear that his discuss is littered with unnecessary concepts" Leon paused then continued.

"For example.....this argument that the search for knowledge should be dedicated to helping the society at large...Nice concept and easily agreeable to the masses. But why should that be the case? Why should knowledge be used to help the masses? He’s conflicting humanitarianism with philosophy in its truest forn."

"Because I seach for knowledge doesn’t mean I need to help anyone with it especially when it might benefit those who wish to harm me. What if we solve all the worlds problems one day? Will that be the end of the pursuit of knowledge? There are so many wholes in this line of reasoning for example....."

Leon went on a long rant on how the views of Karl Zinx could be dangerous to the Arts of philosophy itself. At first Elara was annoyed by his words, but as he kept going her subconscious involuntarily started seeing the logic in his words.

"In my view, he’s a humanitarian first, before a philosopher. But that’s just me." Leon gradually came to a close upon seeing that Elara was speechless. It seemed like he had begun a discuss with a layman unknownly.

"You..." Elara was truly left speechless. How was this kid so knowledgeable? She thought he was just a trouble maker, but he was able to change her entire views with but a few words.

She of course didn’t know who Leon was in his past life, the top genius in the Art of scholarly discuss able to twist the words and logic of beings who would overturn the heavens. Leon was no small fry.

"Sigh, you might be right to Ah extent....but if Karl Zinx is wrong about the true meaning of philosophy who is right?" Elara sighed in defeat and asked Leon the most crucial question.

The reason she was searching through all these philosophical discuss strolls was because she was asked ’ what is philosophy? ’

It sounded crude and one would think it would be the first thing learnt by anyone on the field, but it was the most wildly debated topic in the field.

"Hmmm,in my opinion, philosophy is the pure pursuit of the truth....now whether its the truth of self, the truth of reality, the truth of purpose. I’m not sure "

Leon completely by-cutted the popular philosophers of the world and gave his own opinion before walking over to a book shelf casually.

(F*cking a$$hole!!! Who wants to know your opinion? Pompous ass)

Elara gritted her teeth and cursed under her breath. Leon just came here and messed up her line of thought before leaving abruptly without giving her a reference.

What was she supposed to do? Tell her teacher what he said and attribute it to some random 17 year old?

"Sound reasoning, elevated to level two"

While she was fuming a voice echoed in the library as the library card in Leon’s hand lit up with a white light and floated before him.

"Ah?" Shocked by this scene Leon traced where the voice had come from and his eyes landed at the very top of the library where a fairly aged man with a bald head sat looking down at him.

"This....."

Leon was completely shaken the moment his eyes fell on this man because he hadn’t noticed him when he got here. It was absolutely embarrassing to Leon because...

He was in the same room as a level 5 mage and he didn’t even know it.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Aiii, the kid is very well rounded....even though I don’t subscribe to his views I can’t help but be impressed" the bald headed man said while rubbing his chin slowly.

Leon’s philosophy is the Pursuit of truth was a very nice argument that even he would find it hard to dispute. This was what he wanted from Elara, an argument that was hard to dispute not the actual truth of philosophy.

So as a reward for Leon’s understanding, he improved the Leon’s clearance allowing him to descend to the lower levels of the library.

(I wonder how far he will get before they arrive)

The bald old man mused while staring at Leon intensely from his booth.

"Uggg" Leon felt a chill run down his spine on the ground as his eyes clashed with that of the bald old man.

He couldn’t understand why there was a level 5 existence in this library and why he was looking at him like that.

"Kid, come with us" aa Leon as lost in thought, two men in Monk robes appeared beside him and said.

"Come with you?" Leon frowned, he was no child, he understood that it wasn’t the best idea to follow strangers on a whim.

"Yes, you’ve gained the authority to enter the lower levels, please come with us so you can be processed" one of the men said to Leon in a straight forward manner.

This kid had unknownly gained what everyone in the top floor had been trying to gain forever. He was very lucky.

At least that was what they thought.
