" How did you find me?" Leon asked with gritted teeth. He hadn’t meant Peri ever since he came out from the tempering event. This was the first time, and the sorcerer was waiting for him here?
He couldn’t understand.
"That’s my little secret, of course you will find out a little later" the sorcerer grinned. He didn’t have a face, it was just blank like the faceless mercenary company’s mask, but this was his actual face.
"What do you want?" Leon asked with some struggle, he hated this, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place with someone who could harm him.....unless he wanted a case of mutual destruction.
"You won’t remove the canon on my head first?" The sorcerer questioned. He was here because he wanted to place Leon in a disadvantageous situation. He couldn’t kill Leon because of Badur’s Gate, so he had to place him in a place where he couldn’t use it.....
"You’re dreaming" Leon spat out. He wouldn’t think twice before blowing everyone here to kingdom come if the sorcerer was planing to capture him.
He just didn’t see a reason for it yet.
"Okay, let’s talk" while still pinning Leon to the wall, the sorcerer spoke.
"I would like to pay for your services" the sorcerer said slyly while maintaining eye contact with Leon.
"My services?" Leon knitted his brows, what did he mean by services?
"You’re a mercenary, right? Sword for hire, whatever you want to call it, I pay you, and you kill someone for me." the sorcerer paused.
"Of course, it won’t be anything crazy, I’m sure you can succeed with a little bit of planning here and there" the sorcerer continued, But before he could go further...
"What makes you think ill kill someone for you?" Leon cut him off and asked, this was an absurd situation. This guy was asking Leon to kill someone for him after trying to kill him not too long ago.
"Because that’s your job" the sorcerer said as if it was only natural. Leon didn’t really have a choice here, if he said no the sorcerer would try to kill him and if he used badurs gate he would not only kill himself, he would kill everyone here.
"How much ?" All of a sudden, Leon asked. He saw no two ways about this, he had to accept no matter what.
"Good!!!" Letting go of Leon, the sorcerer echoed with glee. He dusted Leon’s shoulders and walked towards Carlson.
It seemed like he had disengaged, but at a moment’s notice he could make a move and deal some serious damage.
"I can’t pay in gold, as you know, I just got out. But, I have other things, for example.....these guys" the sorcerer placed three magic spell manuals in Carlson hands.
They were level 2 and surprisingly level 3 spells. Then he proceeded to pull out some herbs brimming with life-energy before glancing at Leon with knowing eyes.
"All that, and many more, I came upon a treasure trove not so long ago." The sorcerer said while fiddling a purple crystal in his hand.
During the past few weeks, he had successfully killed a few people and plundered their treasures. That’s where he got these from.
"You can have these, when you’re done I’ll get you whatever you want, just kill the target" the sorcerer reaffirmed.
"Who’s this target, by the way?" Leon asked.....
"Ah, I remember he was called Vlad.....but his title was the brute of duan city.....the person was such a pain" the sorcerer couldn’t help but feel annoyed after saying that name.
Vlad was one of his nemesis, he was sealed by his many faced cult 100 years ago when Vlad and the self-righteous powers besieged him many years ago. So you could imagine how it felt when he heard that the old bastard Vlad was still alive and kicking. He couldn’t stand it.
He wanted his revenge, and he wanted it right away…
But he was unable to do it now, even though Vlad had been weakened by time and his final attack. There were still others in this city that had reached this power level. Attracting them to himself would be a disaster.
"The brute of duan city….never heard of him" Leon frowned, this information was too vague, how could he know?
"Ehh that’s all the info I have, but I do know that he’s a noble or something" the sorcerer said before walking towards Leon.
"Get it done, and get your reward, fail, and maybe you might die, that’s all I have to say" the sorcerer whispered into Leon’s ear before strangely morphing into a short chubby man with a goatee.
He was trying to send a message, he was saying to Leon that, if he wanted him dead, he wouldn’t even know he was the one attacking until he was dead.

He opened the door to the side and just like that he left. Leaving the room tensed.
Someone just walked in and took them all for a ride, Peri especially couldn’t help but feel weird. She had invited this person in. Would Leon ever trust her again?
"I know a person called the brute of duan city" all of a sudden from the side Arian spoke.
"Me too" Carlson also added.
"Oh?" Leon looked at them with anticipation. 𝔫𝔬𝖛𝖕𝔲𝖇.𝖈𝖔𝖒
When he heard the name, Leon didn’t know what to expect, but after Arian and Carlson explained to him Leon realized that this task was a very difficult one.
Vlad feystone.
A mid-level noble with his own family compound inside of duan city. They were tasked to kill the former head of a noble family in duan city.....that was absurd.
"What are we going to do?" Arian asked Leon. This was a big problem, they were being threatened into doing something like this, she didn’t like it, and she knew Leon would hate it more.
"We’ll take it one at a time" Leon sighed before taking a seat on the chair in front of Peri.
"I will need some funds from you, a little loan…." Leon said calmly.
He was trying to extort her because she felt guilty, but Leon didn’t really hold her accountable. The guy would have gotten to him one way or the other.
Now was the time to use his resources properly.

MEANWHILE
In a red brick house somewhere in duan city, a couple of aged individuals could be seen seated on a round table.
Naturally, this was Half-moon’s house, and the people on the round table were elders of the faceless mercenary company.
"We have to go full force, I’m sure we can get him in one night" one of the aged men said with anger in his tone.
The sorcerer had stolen some of his treasures, he marked several of their faces during the chase at the tempering grounds and started following them to their homes one after the other.
He didn’t kill them though, he just stole, he was a conniving thief.
"That will draw too much attention, use your head you old fool" one of the twin elders from the tempering event retorted the suggestion of the elder from before.
They had to keep what was going on between them. Peak level 3 mages Running through the streets of duan city was too eye-catching.
"Hmp!!!" The elder snorted before looking over at a lonely figure in the corner of his eyes. This figure was impatient as he stared at the person In the helm of this meeting.
This person was none other than half moon, and the person Half-moon was looking at with such impatience was his friend Damien.
"What should we do great mage" Half-moon asked
"We wait" the great mage replied.
"Wait?!!! We can’t afford to wait." Half-moon slammed his hand on the table in front of him. Most of the guys here had lost a treasure or two, but he lost his most precious treasure.
His daughter Ember.
He came back a few days ago and his daughter was gone with a note saying that she was being ’borrowed’
This was beyond provocation, and he would not take it laying down.
"Let’s calm down first and think this through brother byrond" one of the twin elders tried to calm Half-moon down.
This didn’t work though.....
"You either order a manhunt or I get the royalty involved" Half-moon’s tone turned dark as he said this. He wouldn’t mind going against Damien for his daughter any day.
His words caused an absolute silence, the great mage didn’t want to involve anyone in this, and Half-moon was going against it. This was a test of Damien’s decision-making skills.
If he agreed to Half-moon and endangered the company’s interest, then a lot of his support would dwindle. It was that they didn’t feel for Half-moon, they just thought it was not a good decision to throw the whole company under the bus because of it.
"I can’t let you do that, old friend." The great mage shook his head and stood up, facing Half-moon face to face.
He would rather fight Half-moon than let him endanger the company.
