There was a surprising lack of paperwork all over the office. Instead, it actually seemed rather clean and organized. That was until Walker noticed that there were about ten mana crystals on the desk and they were all glowing with a little mana.
Clara was also nowhere to be seen, that was until Walker noticed that there was an additional door now built in. It seemed that nearby rooms had been brought together so that they could easily be accessed by Clara from her office.
Without a second thought, Walker opened the door to find that three rooms had their walls opened to make an ever larger office.
This was where the mountains of scroll, papers, and mail had been. Her office was for show now, prepared for sending and receiving communication crystal messages and this was the real office.
The chaotic flow of endless paperwork which would make anyone lose their mind. Several staff members sorted papers and created a priority order. They also seemed to be handling less important documents that just needed an approval stamp or a denial stamp.
Each held a list of instructions and allowance, proving that Clara had a hand in all the final decisions. Clara herself was insanely focused on her work, she had multitask documents spread out in front of her.
She didn't notice Walker Come up behind her. This gave him the chance to view the plans for the new adventurers' guild base that will be in the second Genesis city on the Sigil continent.
It was larger to start off with since the guild had learned that expansion was a hassle. They had done it here and it had taken them more funds and time before they were operating at a higher level of efficiency.
What he also noticed was that the tamer's guild and crafting guild were oriented to be set up in attachment. The same with the alchemy guild. All four would be creating a very large structure allowing for prowl to travel through the building to each main guild desk.
This would allow efficiency in monster parts processing, sale of general gear and items, along with secondary learning. This would also just be the main offices while their production buildings and storage areas would be elsewhere with better space.
Meaning that the training grounds in the center were just four organized testing areas rather than working areas. This was a decent design allowing for optimal paperwork and focus on the teaching aspects of the guilds without losing the space by separating.
"Is there anything wrong with your designs? I think they are actually pretty great. And the second location training field should be better since it's close to the farm field areas planned. There will be better chances for younger adventurers to learn then head out to patrol the surroundings."
When Walker chimed in and pointed out the planned locations, Clara lazily looked up. She could have had more energy but it seemed she had burned herself down a lot with all her work as of late.
When a flicker of recognition came across her eyes, she sat up a little straighter. "Walker? What brought you here? I thought you would have to handle other things." Her confusion was fair but Walker shook his head at her.
"And I thought everyone had told you to work a little less and get some rest? You don't seem to be doing that even with a team handling the other paperwork you aren't required to look over every single time." He wanted to laugh at himself since he sounded like a doting mother.
She looked at him with a face that told him she had been trying but this was impossible. "Do you know how many new adventurers there are? We don't have enough veterans to teach them. The class schedules are also impossible since so many want to learn for safety now.
Everyone is too busy and overworked. We can't even rely on the general education to slow the influx of younger adventurer applicants because they are skipping the general education all together since they can."
The rant showed all the exasperation and frustration that Clara had over the paperwork and the additional stress of the situation she was in. This seemed it also to be reflected in the attendants who had paused for a moment, their exhaustion was clear as well.
"Wait, people aren't being required to go through general education? I thought that was on the voting list for the last meeting…" Walker trailed off realizing that the events in the elemental planes had taken priority. Before that, so many other events had taken over the focus of every single representative.
"I will handle that right now. Clara, some with me. Have your attendants get the other guild members or their representatives. There should be a small meeting happening right now. The majority would be there with myself and them."
This was something that could help the overwhelmed guilds. It was also extremely important that the general education program was extended to help everyone understand cultures and various aspects of the races added to Genesis. It would only be more important as more races joined and as more people discovered new paths of growth for classes.
Having a mass of uneducated people or those who were more full of assumed knowledge could not bode well for the future. Secondly, he had another idea while walking and seeing that multiple representatives of each guild master. Even two that he had seen working as secretaries directly under one of the tamer's guild branch managers.
The moment they all walked in and Walker noticed Scylla, Mordant, the vampire representative, goblin, and gray haired spider representatives were all there. This was enough since he also knew that the dragons would agree with him as a whole with Mordant taking the lead for them here.
"We need to vote on and approve the requirement for 5 years of general education. Right now it is not required and many children or parents are pushing to avoid doing it at all. Also, every build should require the general education completion to even enter depending on the age and year they were born."
His idea was to make sure it was a united front. The guilds and the governing council would ensure that there was not a loophole or method to go behind each other's backs.
"The adventurer's guild agrees with this immediately. The lack of general education has caused some clashes between races in the younger adventurers. It's harder on instructors, on party managers, and on all staff associated with training and beginner quests."
"Very similar events are happening with us. We are being bombarded by requests for mentors. Mentors are unavailable to teach twenty or more apprentices. It is an impossible situation since some can't even hold hammers or heavier tools let alone love metals. That is just forging. More aspects are suffering in other forms of crafting as well."
"And we of the tamer's guild will also agree. We have full rights to act on this since right now we have a very long list of waiting tamers who can not have mentors or trainers due to the fact that many travel. The availability is not there."
This went on as Walker had changed the flow of the meeting going in entirely. Everyone present was ready to push this issue right to the front. The future had to be led by those who knew what they were doing. Beyond that, the pressure on the guilds could cause a collapse causing a major issue for all of Genesis.
The people needed to be the focus and that was what this would do.
Before any other topic was resumed or brought up, Walker had this new law pushed out to every guild, communication method, and the general public. While some would be unhappy with this sudden change, it was the best that would help everyone. It would also set the precedent that quality was the focus over quantity for everything that Genesis did.
Within a few moments someone who had been a member of the magic tower arrived in agreement of the majority of mages who trained there. They didn't yet have a leader to control the entire tower but they still held a council and weight that supported this.
Many new mages had to understand the risks of using their magic in certain areas or around certain races. General knowledge was the beginning of that.
Mordant even made a clear point that the monster races, dragons, and serpents would all need to show that they were also equals by doing this education too. It would bring them closer together rather than some over arching figures of strength or mystery.
While not the most exciting, it was all something that had to happen now rather than later.
