Chapter 213: Sweet, Sweet, Fear!

(Warning: Disturbing graphics and violence ahead. Read at your own peril!)

"So... Where were we?" After Fergus asked that with a wicked grin on his face, the Beta began shaking his head wildly.

He stretched his hands forward, a pleading look on his face as he rubbed his palms together in a desperate move to plead for mercy.

"P– please. I beg of you. What do you want? Money? A position at the top of the pack?" Darius’s eyes shone with trepidation and they fluttered like a madman’s too. "I– I– I can get the Alpha to make you the new Gamma! I– I could get him to remove me and make you the Beta! Please, just... Just spare me."

Fergus chuckled amusingly. Fascinating!

These wolves were all shades of corruption in the shadows, and this groveling Beta here was a perfect representation of all that corruption. Imagine him insinuating that he was able to influence the Alpha’s decisions. If that was the case, just how many other times had he gotten the Alpha to do other things to please his sorry ass?

Now that Fergus thought about it, he was doing Raven Wood Pack a favor. If anything, they’d owe him for helping them execute such a corrupt person.

Ignoring Darius’s mortified expression, Fergus circled the dead bodies of the soldiers. The sweet metallic smell of blood hit his nose, working on his brain like a drug. He smirked as he licked his lips.

After squatting, he brought out his fangs and caressed the headless stump of one of the bodies with an eerie tenderness that sent a cold shiver down Beta Darius’s spine, as he began crying at the corner. Fergus’s fingers stroked the jagged bones of the neck and his body shivered with twisted delight.

After admiring his food for a while, Fergus struck the headless stump with his fangs, with a ferociousness that showed his hunger.

The last time he’d fed was on Nick, which was already two days ago. As an ancient vampire, he could survive for far longer than that without blood, but why should he bother himself like that when the present chaos In the camp was a window of opportunities?

A wet gurgling sound filled the room as he continued to drink the blood. As he fed, his mouth covered the gaping wound completely. The smell of copper and death filled the air, sticking to his skin like a miasma.

After two delightful minutes, he’d drained the first body of every drop, leaving it to look like a mummified corpse. Soon, he walked to the two other headless bodies and did the same, draining all their blood from their headless stumps.

When he was done he smirked. Throughout his feeding, the Beta hadn’t even moved. He was mortified, clutching his mouth with both his hands, an overwhelming fear visible in his eyes. He shivered, his eyes darting from the shriveled bodies to the bloody Fergus who had an equally bloody grin on his face.

The Beta’s face was already filled with tears, snot, and sweat... His heartbeat racing like a lamb about to be slaughtered. He was finally able to release a strained whimper, before pleading again. "P– please. W–what are you? Have... Have mercy!"

Fergus did a mocking baby face, before cackling wildly. He held his belly, his laugh blending in with the chaos outside. But his laughter wasn’t in any way ’warm’ or kind. It was pure evil. It only managed to strike more fear in the Beta.

"Seriously, why do you mortals always follow the same script?" Fergus clicked his tongue with a sigh, as he stopped right in front of a bewildered Darius. "Why do you all beg for your lives before you’re punished? Before I’ve even made a move? Aren’t you a wolf? FIGHT ME!" He gave the Beta a kick to the stomach, which sent him flying through the room until he crashed into a table. His body broke the table In two, but his back also made a cracking sound, as he fell to the ground with a groan.

But Fergus was unmerciful and unrelenting as he now walked to where the Beta had landed. He played with the dirt under his fingers, not in the least paying any heed to Beta Darius’s pained whimpers.

With a sigh, Fergus continued talking. "I’m honestly extremely disappointed, Beta. Seriously. That’s a two-star review from me right there. That Nick guy had more fight in him than you could ever have, and YOU’RE supposed to be the Beta? Haha... This pack is fucked!"

Beta Darius struggled to sit up, as he gasped heavily to catch his breath. He fixed his gaze on Fergus’s approaching figure, his body shivering even more. But Fergus paused, studying the Beta intently before speaking again.

"You feel that drawling sensation going up your spine? That’s inevitability." He uttered coldly, his eyes flashing with sadistic delight. "And the one going down your legs? Fear. Sweet, sweet, fear!"

He cackled again, as he finally got to Beta Darius he crawled helplessly on the ground, trying to head for the door. He groaned, he whimpered, he yelped, he cried... But all that did was increase Fergus’s delight more and more.

Without warning, he raised his leg, before stomping on the Beta’s left ankle. The action snapped the bones like a twig, the sound of breaking bones and Darius’s blood-curdling scream filling the room. However, before he could scream louder, Fergus acted fast, covering his mouth.

"You know, I have an option for you." He sniggered, as he gently brushed the Beta’s hair with another hand. " Go down on your knees, and give me five hundred pushups. If you’re able to do that successfully, then I’ll make your death swift, without any pain. What do you say? A generous offer, right?"

Beta Darius only whimpered in reply, his face overrun with despondency. His eyes lost all sense of hope, as he looked up at Fergus. He got on his knees and began doing pushups. He was really sloppy with it though, since his ankle had just been broken.

Fergus watched him with amusement, circling him as he did his pushups and counted them out. He was desperate, that was for sure. But if he was really desperate... He’d have fought for his survival. Well, he wouldn’t have been able to escape him anyway, but still...

Just then, Fergus perked up his ears. He heard something, which was then followed by a weird feeling coming from outside. The chaos seemed to reduce and so had the panicked noises. After studying the feeling for a bit more, he was able to decipher what it was.

Magic.

"Sorry bud, this has been fun, not gonna lie." He muttered with a sigh as he held the Beta by the hair. The man yelped, closing his eyes shut with fear. "Unfortunately, I have to go now. See you in hell."

And with that, he brought out his fangs

and what followed was Beta Darius’s bone-chilling scream.
