Chapter 229: Make His Father Pay

"I told you to stop spying on her, Cullen. The deal is off, remember?" Kylo scoffed and was about to walk away when he heard Isleen crying in the recording.

He paused, his face creasing with a frown as he listened. She talked about making a ’huge mistake ’. He was confused at first until she mentioned her mate.

It seemed there’d been trouble in paradise and he couldn’t help glaring at Cullen.

"You have no right judging her for having a mate. I get it, she’s moved on. And–" he reprimanded him but was cut short.

"Ugh! Just shut up and listen, Kylo boy." Cullen rolled his eyes, smirking mischievously as he waved his phone around.

No sooner had those words left his mouth than when Isleen made a shocking revelation in the recording. Her ’mate’ was none other than Gamma Rhett. His... His father?

His father and his ex were seeing each other? They were mates?!

His face got red with unbridled rage, his jaw clenching and unclenching when she talked about him marking her and how she’d thrown herself at him the night they’d had sex.

But what made him angry beyond a doubt was when she mentioned that they’d both known they were mates before she ever even broke up with Kylo.

They’d been seeing each other and his dad had been making advances at her and even... Kissing her. His father and his fucking ex!

The sound of Isleen begging, crying, and pleading with Cullen not to tell anyone, especially him, made his skin crawl. He couldn’t take it anymore.

"Turn it off." He spoke flatly, clenching his jaw as he looked away. But the annoying Cullen still played back the recording.

He chuckled amusingly. "Wait, this part is my favorite. She –" However, before those words could leave his throat, Kylo slapped the phone off his hands.

"Shut. The. Fuck. Up!" He growled as his eyes narrowed into slits.

He didn’t stop there, as he seized Cullen by the throat, shoving him until his back hit the tree.

Cullen’s shocked gasp did nothing to quell his sizzling anger. "You think this is funny, huh?" He spat.

Isleen was a cheat! A snake! The literal personification of a ’wolf in sheep’s clothing ’.

And his father? He knew he didn’t care about him, but seriously? Going after his girlfriend behind his back?

"K– Kylo... I’m not your... Your enemy." Cullen’s palms wrapped around his wrists tightly, as he struggled to breathe.

But he couldn’t hear his struggling as his mind went through memories. Memories he’d had with Isleen.

The good and bad ones. All the times they’d broken up but then got together, their relationship growing stronger than ever. Or, so he’d thought at least.

Now all those memories were corrupted with images of his father, created by his imagination. He couldn’t take the pain and felt like pouring his anger on someone.

He finally blinked, gazing at Cullen. His face was flushing pink as he fought to catch his breath. This wasn’t right.

Kylo loosened his grip on him and proceeded to step back, shaking his head repeatedly.

"I’m... I’m sorry." He muttered, brushing both his palms through his hair. He struggled to blink back tears as he sat helplessly on the grass.

Cullen’s desperate gasps to get back air, alongside the calm blowing of the wind and chirping of night insects were the only sounds he could pick up as he sat there, motionless.

His heart was empty. He stared at nothing in particular as he tried to make sense of everything he just discovered.

It had to be a prank from Cullen. It just had to be. But he wasn’t delusional enough to ignore the facts slapping him in the face.

There were no doubts... it’d been Isleen’s voice he heard coming from the other end. Her emotions had been raw and sincere when she spoke in the recording.

"Argh!" He groaned out in frustration, as he shot up from the ground.

He rushed towards the tree, not caring if Cullen stood in front of it. Luckily, the latter stepped away from it before Kylo did what he had in mind.

He punched the tall tree, managing to shake it a little in the process. But he didn’t stop there, as he continued landing punches after punches, his eyes heating up as the tears simmered away.

He had one person in mind when he punched the tree. One person whose shadow had loomed over him all his life. One person who made him constantly feel like he wasn’t enough.

His father would fucking pay for this! The old geezer didn’t deserve to be called his father. What kind of father goes behind his son’s back to make advances on his then-girlfriend?

Could he even trust him again after this? Could he ever trust Isleen again after this?

He had sacrificed his happiness to ensure hers. He’d let go of their relationship to give her peace away from the judgment of the pack. He’d supported her since day one!

The more he thought about all this, the harder his punches were on the tree. He didn’t stop even when his knuckles cracked. He didn’t stop even when they bled, painting the tree’s bark a crimson red.

"Kylo, stop it." Cullen suddenly shoved him away from the tree, grappling him to the ground.

He kicked and punched with his fists which were now searing with pain, but it was to no avail. It was one of those rare moments where Cullen shocked him with his strength.

"Let’s just go into the tent so you can rest. We can’t attract the attention of the pack soldiers." Cullen whispered, his eyes darting around as he covered his mouth.

Kylo relaxed under his hold and eventually, Cullen let him go. He stood up, dusting his body as he looked away.

He clenched his fists before blurting. "I’m going to kill that man. I’m going to make sure he gets what he deserves." A vein throbbed on his head as he imagined several ways he could kill his own father.

But then, he shook his head, slapping his forehead with a grunt. He couldn’t do that. He could never do that... Right?

"Yes, you will." Cullen suddenly spoke, walking toward him. When he finally got to him, he placed his palms on his chest, causing his heart to skip a beat. "You can do that and more, Kylo. But not here. Not in the camp and definitely not now."

His gaze met Cullen’s as he struggled to think properly. But how could he do that with everything going on in his life?

"Just let go, Kylo," Cullen whispered, his tone becoming seductive.

He didn’t like what was happening one bit. He felt like he was being taken advantage of. But at the end of the day, did he really care anymore?

When Cullen leaned in closer and kissed him, for the first time, he didn’t resist. He didn’t push him away.

Under the cover of darkness, he let himself fall into his hidden desires, damning the consequences. This would be his little payback to Isleen.
