Chapter 252: It’s A Date

Kylo

~~

He was restless. He couldn’t think straight. And it was all because of this random fairy girl.

His mate.

Who would’ve thought that his mate would be a fairy? This had got to be the worst joke the moon goddess had ever pulled on anyone.

After having his bath and dressing up, he went to check himself out in the mirror to make sure he wasn’t overdressed or underdressed.

He wore a stylish black jacket white T-shirt over a simple white T-shirt. He had his hair styled with some hair products that he hadn’t touched in a while and used a special cologne that he kept for special occasions.

After adjusting his collar one last time, he gave himself a wink before walking out of the dimly lit room.

However, on his way downstairs, he bumped into her on the steps. Isleen.

She seemed stressed and could barely even look him in the eyes. Eventually, she continued going upstairs without even looking back.

"What the heck is her deal?" Kylo couldn’t help asking Cullen when he got to the kitchen.

When the latter shrugged cluelessly, Kylo shrugged as well. Whatever it was that was eating Isleen up, he was sure it had nothing to do with him, so why should he even bother himself?

"I’m going to go outside and get some air. But don’t wait up." He patted Cullen on the shoulder before walking out of the kitchen.

As soon as he opened the living room door and stepped outside, the cool welcome of the evening air hit his face, making him smile.

He took advantage of the slightly windy night and walked until he got to the spot where he’d met Dew. His mate.

Once he got there, he now had to rely on something else. Her scent still lingered around and now he had to use his advanced werewolf smell to track her down.

He sniffed into the air, following the flowery scent of her perfume. So many scents and putrid smells filled the pack grounds, but he was able to ignore all of them and focus on her scent. He bumped into a few people as he followed the scent, but he barely registered any of that in his head.

Just when it felt like he was getting closer, he paused In the middle of the sidewalk as a thought crossed his mind.

"Isn’t this stalking?" He asked himself, scratching his neck awkwardly.

Ugh! Was he a stalker now? Was that what he was doing now?

He sighed as he walked into a coffee shop before moving toward the counter.

"One cup of cappuccino with caramel, please." Kylo drummed his fingers on the counter as he made the order.

The coffee shop was brightly lit and looked pretty simple, with several tables arranged at different spots. There were only a few customers right now, sitting and chatting among themselves while enjoying their steamy cups of coffee.

The strong smell of different varieties of coffee filled the air and slowly, Kylo felt like he couldn’t smell her again.

He couldn’t smell his Dew again.

However, as he dropped his head dejectedly, awaiting his order, it came again. Her scent.

He raised his head and swerved to look directly at the entrance of the shop, just in time to see her. He blinked repeatedly as his face brightened up with a smile.

She looked around the shop nervously at first, standing there like a frightened deer. However, she paused and turned slowly until her eyes met his.

Her brows creased into a frown at first but it was soon replaced by a curious smile.

By the moon, she was smiling at him!

Her light blonde hair was tied into a ponytail, and her wings fluttered ever so slightly behind her. Her white dress didn’t even have as much as a speck on it and was perfect.

She was perfect.

"H–hi." She walked up to him and waved meekly.

Kylo blinked awkwardly as it felt like his brain had stopped functioning at that moment. All he could hear in his head right now was "MATE" being spoken repeatedly by his wolf.

By the moon, he got the message!

"Hi." He managed to wave back with a friendly smile. "You... You look stunning."

Shit, he wasn’t supposed to say that! This wasn’t a date or anything like that. They’d just randomly bumped into each other again, in this coffee shop.

He didn’t even drink coffee that much, but something had led him to walk into this shop. It couldn’t have been a coincidence.

Kylo wasn’t much of a believer, but here before him was a reason to believe again.

Suddenly, the waiter behind the counter called out. "Sir, your cappuccino."

Kylo blinked as he turned to look at the young man, a wolf. He nodded sheepishly and went ahead to take the coffee off his hands before dropping his money on the counter.

"Cappuccino?" Dew repeated with an arched eyebrow, her gaze moving from the cup of coffee to Kylo’s face.

"Uh... Yeah." He replied. "Haven’t you tried it before?"

She blushed, shaking her head in response. "No. I– I just got into drinking coffee. I just started working the night shift at a hotel nearby and I need the energy boost." She chuckled softly.

Her voice was like music to his ears. Her laugh soothed his heart, slowly pealing off the darkness that clouded it. It was one thing to be mated to someone, but it was another thing to be in love with them.

Did he love her?

"Uh, hello?" Dew suddenly snapped her fingers in front of his face, bringing him back to reality. "You spaced out there."

Kylo shook his head, the smile on his face only growing wider.

"Yeah, I was actually thinking. What if you try out my coffee and then I try out the type you’ve been having?" He suggested with a wink.

Her face got red with a blush, but she still had her eyes on him.

"Are you asking me out?" Dew suddenly blurted, taking Kylo off guard.

This was his chance!

"Yes." He replied simply, his hands getting shaky as he secretly wished she’d accept his offer.

She shook her head with a knowing smile before placing a finger on his nose. "It’s a date then. But we only have thirty minutes before I go back to work."

Thirty minutes? He could make that work.
