Chapter 122: Chapter 120 Enthusiastic Chaoyang Residents

Da Lao smoothly pulled to a stop in front of Western Beijing Joy Residence neighborhood.

Chen Cheng: "Then this is where I drop you off."

Li Hao, excitedly holding Chen Cheng’s hand, "Brother Chen, thank you so much for today!"

"Hey, I haven’t thanked you for helping me find a wife yet!"

"Hahaha," Li Hao laughed heartily, "Next time, we’ll have a great time together again!"

Chen Cheng agreed readily, "No problem!"

"That’s it for today then, Brother Chen, I’m heading back first."

Chen Cheng nodded, "When you get home, send me a message. You’ve had quite a bit to drink, be careful."

"Brother, you really....."

Li Hao was deeply moved, feeling that he had truly found a reliable and wealthy big brother.

Not only did he help him complete his performance target but also cared about such details.

Chen Cheng smiled faintly, "Take it slow~"

"I’m off, bro!"

Li Hao got out of the car and staggered into the complex.

Chen Cheng rolled down the window, watching him pass the security gate and go inside.

Just as he was about to take out his phone to send a message to Wen Shulin, who had been waiting all night, she could no longer restrain herself.

"Why haven’t you called yet?" Wen Shulin appeared beside Da Lao, looking at Chen Cheng inside.

"You scared me! Can’t you be a little less anxious?"

Chen Cheng shifted to make room, motioning her to get in the car.

Wen Shulin got into the car, her anxiety tinged with a bit of reproach, "I’ve been waiting so long, how could I not be anxious?"

Chen Cheng smiled, "Waiting for him to get home."

Wen Shulin leaned back in her seat, occasionally pursing her lips, but her eyes kept looking in the direction where Li Hao had entered the neighborhood.

After a while, Chen Cheng’s phone rang.

Wen Shulin quickly leaned forward, her head close to Chen Cheng’s, reading the text on the screen.

"Brother, I’ve safely reached home. Thanks for bringing me back today! Let’s look for wives together another day!"

Chen Cheng turned to look at Wen Shulin, "Now we can start."

Wen Shulin of course knew what "looking for wives" meant, but at that moment she didn’t care about that and pressed those three numbers and dialed out.

"Hello, I’d like to report room 603, building 7, unit 4, Western Beijing Joy Residence in Fangshan Yan Village; someone is smoking weed..."

...

Several police cars, with their red and blue lights flashing, sped to the entrance of Western Beijing Joy Residence neighborhood like lightning.

The piercing sound of police sirens cut through the night sky, exceptionally clear in the quiet streets.

Da Lao and Alphard were parked across the road from the neighborhood, as Chen Cheng and Wen Shulin sat inside, watching everything unfolding before them.

Wen Shulin: "Finally, they’ve come."

Chen Cheng: "Less than 10 minutes, pretty fast."

"These 10 minutes, I’ve been waiting for over 40 days." Wen Shulin took several deep breaths, unable to suppress the excitement in her heart.

She silently wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes.

Chen Cheng gently patted her thigh, "No need to cry over happy news."

"Things will be resolved soon," he said.

At this point, the police had already sprung into action, some officers guarding every entrance and exit to the complex, while others headed straight for building 7, unit 4.

Wen Shulin stared intensely at the moving figures of the cops, her hands involuntarily twisted together, "I wonder if Li Hao would resist."

"He wouldn’t dare, not even if he had ten times the courage!"

Ding ding ding.

As soon as the words were spoken, Chen Cheng’s phone began to ring.

"Hello."

"Hello, Comrade. I am Long Changnian from the Fangshan Branch Bureau. Are you currently at Western Beijing Joy Residence?"

Chen Cheng: "I am."

"Then you..."

Chen Cheng opened the car door, stepped out, waved across the street, and said to Officer Long on the phone, "Officer Long, I am right across from you."

Long Changnian turned his head to look, both of them hung up the phone, and each walked half way to meet.

Wen Shulin also got out of the car and stood beside Chen Cheng.

"Comrade, you are the one who reported the crime, right?" Officer Long confirmed.

Chen Cheng nodded, "Yes."

"We will need your cooperation for some investigation and statements after we arrest the suspect later."

"Okay, Officer Long."

Officer Long looked at the man and woman before him, his gaze also noticing the Rolls-Royce and Alphard parked behind them, and asked, "May I ask how you knew the suspect was smoking ’leaves’?"

At this time, Wen Shulin stepped forward, "Officer Long, Li Hao is an employee of our company. I’ve heard from colleagues in private that his recent mental state seemed off, and even in the company’s restroom, I smelled a strange scent."

"So, I started to keep an eye on him. Later, when I accidentally saw him associating with some dubious individuals, I grew even more suspicious." n𝚘𝚟𝚙𝚞𝚋.𝚌o𝚖

"After observing for a while, I was fairly certain there was a problem, and that’s why I decided to call the police." Wen Shulin explained everything in an organized manner.

Officer Long nodded slightly, "I see, thank you for your report. This is a great help in our fight against illegal and criminal activities."

"Later on, would you two come back to the station for a urine test?" he asked again.

"No problem."

"Sure, Officer Long."

Just then, joyful news came from Officer Long’s walkie-talkie:

"Captain Long, the suspect is under control, and the physical evidence has been secured."

"Good, I know. Regroup in 10 minutes."

Officer Long’s face lit up with joy, extending his hand, "Thank you both."

Chen Cheng shook hands with Officer Long, "It’s what we should do; we’re happy to help with the fight against illegal activity."

"For your personal safety, you both should get in my car first, and I’ll have someone take you back to the station."

Chen Cheng: "Okay."

He turned to Chen Donghai and said, "Xiao Hai, you drive the car away first."

"Miss Wen, have your driver park your car farther away."

After arranging everything, Chen Cheng and Wen Shulin followed Officer Long into the police car.

The police car quickly left the scene.

About twenty minutes later, Li Hao was escorted out of the residential complex.

"Officer, I want to make a phone call."

His former confidence and vigor had vanished without a trace, his body limp with fear, as he was propped out of the complex.

"Not now."

"Get in the car."

Li Hao still didn’t understand why, just after he got home and before he could even get comfortable, the police had shown up at his door.

The only person he could now turn to was Wen Shulin.

He believed that Wen Shulin would surely find a way to get him out.

"Can’t I even call a lawyer?" Li Hao asked, not giving up.

"No!"

The police sternly denied Li Hao’s request and pushed him into the back seat of the police car.

Sitting in the police car, Li Hao’s mind was a whirlpool of thoughts.

He tried to recall his recent actions, attempting to figure out where he had gone wrong.

But staring at the empty streets, no matter how much he racked his brains, he couldn’t come up with an explanation.

All he could do was pray over and over again in his heart that Wen Shulin would come to rescue him.
