Chapter 131: Chapter 129: The Note in the Wallet
Standing in the elevator, Wen Shulin checked her appearance on her phone.
Her makeup, retouched.
Her clothes, though wrinkled, were still buttoned properly.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
But the moment she closed her eyes, Chen Cheng’s face dominated her thoughts.
Though they hadn’t interacted much in the car, that brief encounter helped Wen Shulin understand what Xia Yubing meant by "overbearing tenderness."
She leaned against the elevator wall, her lips unconsciously curving into a slight smile.
Ding!
The elevator reached her floor and the doors opened, snapping Wen Shulin back to reality.
She stepped out of the elevator, carrying with her that fleeting joy, back home.
"Mummy, you’re back?"
Su Liya, wearing Wen Shulin’s pajamas, rubbed her eyes and walked to the door to greet her.
The mature style seemed out of place on this pale, doll-like figure.
The lace neckline loose, revealing her porcelain white skin.
The belt loosely tied at her waist, accentuating her slender figure.
She was barefoot, her cute rounded toes lightly touching the floor.
"Why are you up?" Wen Shulin asked, standing on one foot as she took off her high heels.
Su Liya came forward, "I couldn’t sleep well knowing you hadn’t come home yet."
As she spoke, she hugged Wen Shulin.
"Did you drink alcohol?" Su Liya smelled the strong scent of alcohol.
Wen Shulin smiled and nodded, "Just a little."
"Then I’ll pour you some hot water." Su Liya let go and walked towards the counter.
Wen Shulin watched her thoughtful daughter, feeling very comforted.
She let down her tied-up hair and took off her coat, walking further inside.
"Liya, do you want to go out tomorrow?" Wen Shulin asked.
Su Liya held a cup of water, "You have time tomorrow?"
"I have a short meeting in the morning, can you wait in the office for me?" Wen Shulin took a sip of water, rubbing Su Liya’s head, "I’ll leave your name with my assistant."
Su Liya’s sleepy eyes suddenly brightened.
"Mummy, you seem different."
Wen Shulin’s grip on the cup tightened, fearing that Su Liya had noticed something, "I’ve changed?"
"You never used to let me go to CGG, but now..."
Wen Shulin affectionately flicked Su Liya’s nose, "Are you complaining about Mummy?"
Su Liya shook her head, "No, I’ll wait for you."
Wen Shulin watched her with a smile, then gently tucked a stray hair behind Su Liya’s ear, "Be good and go to sleep. I’m going to take a shower first."
"Okay! I’ll wait for you!"
Su Liya walked toward the master bedroom, while Wen Shulin put down the cup and entered the bathroom.
As the warm water gently enveloped her body, she seemed to shed all her fatigue, closed her eyes, and savored the tranquility and comfort of the moment.
Her long hair flowed like silk in the water, gently swaying with the movement of the water.
The hot water gradually covered her shoulders, with steam fogging her features in a hazy veil.
Wen Shulin sighed softly, her thoughts drifting unconsciously back to the moments she had spent with Chen Cheng, her lips curving into a smile once more.
She stretched out her slender fingers, lightly stirring the water, watching the ripples spread out, like her current mood, calm yet with slight ripples.
"Just now..."
Wen Shulin bit her lower lip, trying to erase those images from her mind, but the more she tried, the clearer they became.
"Ah! What’s gotten into me?"
She quickly snapped herself back to reality, but looking at the clothes in the laundry basket, the marks on the pants, she knew clearly that she had indeed been moved, emotionally.
...
...
The next day, 11 a.m.
Su Liya walked alone into the CGG building with a small bag in hand.
Her presence slowed down the rhythm of this financial building.
Many people rushing by would stop to take a second look.
Dressed in a pure white camisole bubble dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti high heels, the sparkling shoe surface shone like her, gleaming brightly.
"Hello, I am here to see Chairman Wen," Su Liya approached the front desk and asked politely.
The receptionist, seeing such a top-tier beautiful woman with brown hair and blue eyes but speaking with a Taiwan accent, was very curious.
"Miss, do you have an appointment?"
Su Liya nodded, "Yes!"
"May I have your last name?"
"Su, Su Liya."
The receptionist checked the personnel department’s daily appointment list for all departments and indeed found her name on Wen Shulin’s appointment list.
She took out the registration book and handed over a pen, "Please register here, and then we will take you to the corresponding floor."
Su Liya signed, returned the pen with both hands, "Thank you."
"You’re welcome, this way please."
The receptionist led Su Liya to the elevator, pressed the floor for Wen Shulin’s office, and bowed to say goodbye, "Miss, Chairman Wen’s assistant will be waiting for you at the elevator door." 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢
"Okay, thank you."
The elevator ascended quickly, and when the doors opened again, a woman in a small business suit appeared at the elevator door.
"Miss Su, hello, I am Chairman Wen’s assistant, Qina."
She stepped forward briskly, leading Su Liya inside, "Chairman Wen is currently in a meeting, she asked me to have you wait in her office."
"Inside, please." Qina opened the office door, standing by the doorway, "Would you like something to drink?"
This was Su Liya’s first visit to Wen Shulin’s office, she looked at the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, "No, thank you."
"Alright, Miss Su. If you need anything, just call me."
Qina then closed the door.
Su Liya strolled around the office, looking here and there, even sat in Wen Shulin’s chair for a bit, then finally sat down on the guest sofa.
Time ticked away, but the office door never opened again.
Li Ya took out her phone and checked the time, she had already been waiting for almost an hour.
After thinking for a while, she sent Wen Shulin a WeChat message.
"Mommy, are you still busy?"
Then the waiting continued.
"Li Ya, sorry! Mommy’s meeting is still not over, if you’re hungry, go downstairs and grab something to eat."
"Also, there are cards and cash in mommy’s bag, you take it yourself. The bag is in the cabinet on the left side of the desk."
Su Liya stared at the message on her phone screen, sighed deeply, then slowly stood up, her steps slightly heavy as she walked towards the cabinet.
Opening the cabinet door, indeed, a color-blocked Hermes Birkin came into view.
She carefully took out the bag, opened it, and then took out an LV long wallet.
"Just take the card."
Su Liya didn’t take the cash; being used to living in Taiwan, she preferred to use credit cards.
After pulling out the prestigious Black Card, she was about to put the wallet back in its place when her gaze accidentally fell on the other side holding the cash.
There, a crumpled note quietly lay amidst the currency.
"What’s this?"
Driven by curiosity, she picked up the note.
The moment it unfolded, the words caused her eyebrows to furrow: "Miss Wen, we are eternal partners. — Chen Cheng"
"Chen Cheng?"
This name echoed in her mind, seemingly familiar, yet unclear.
"Chen Cheng... Chen Cheng..."
She repeated the name softly, the fragments of memory gradually piecing together in her mind.
"DANDY! That’s right! That’s the place!"
She recalled the night Li Hao called her out, and the once blurry figure in her mind began to become clear.
"Is it him?"
Su Liya instinctively covered her mouth, "But isn’t he Li Hao’s client? How is he ’eternal partners’ with mommy?"
