Chapter 132: Chapter 130: Who is Chen Cheng
FamilyMart convenience store.
Su Liya sat at the long table by the window, nibbling on the sandwich in her hand, but her mind was filled with the words "Chen Cheng".
"How does Mommy know him?"
"And what exactly is their relationship? Why would she say they are eternal partners? That seems too intimate."
"Also, Mommy has never mentioned this person to me. Did they meet only recently?"
Su Liya felt like her brain was about to overload; she just couldn’t connect Li Hao’s client with her own mother.
It wasn’t just her brain that was struggling; the store clerks at FamilyMart felt the same.
A beautiful foreign girl with a sweet appearance, holding a Black Card, had just swiped it for an 8 yuan sandwich and a 2 yuan bottle of mineral water and now sat eating inside the store.
Watching her graceful figure, he couldn’t help but steal a few more glances. After all, such a genuine beauty wasn’t common on this street.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Wu Dongyi entered at this moment.
Seeing the familiar customer, the clerk hurriedly said, "Brother Wu, you nearly scared me to death!"
"What are you talking about?"
"That girl is so fresh!"
Wu Dongyi followed the line of sight and after seeing that conspicuous brown hair, he instantly recognized her as the one brought by Li Hao before.
"Why is she here?"
"You know her?"
Wu Dongyi started to boast, "Of course, I do! An acquaintance!"
"Yeah right! As if you would know such high-end stuff!"
Wu Dongyi put down the soda he was holding, "Just watch, I’ll show you a trick or two."
Having said that, he walked towards Su Liya.
"Ahem." Wu Dongyi cleared his throat and said with a smile, "Miss, hello."
Su Liya turned her head to look at him, with no recollection and an air of wariness, "Hello."
"We’ve met before, at the Worker’s Stadium," Wu Dongyi got straight to the point.
Su Liya sized up Wu Dongyi and tried hard to recall, but still shook her head, "Sorry, I don’t remember you."
"Look how forgetful important people are!" Wu Dongyi did not give up and continued to add details, "Last time, you were with Li Hao from CGG. I even joined your booth for a drink."
Su Liya’s eyebrows knitted, but then relaxed as she seemed to remember there was such a person.
"I remember now, it’s you!"
Wu Dongyi nodded with a smile, "Exactly! Imagine running into you here! Are you waiting for Li Hao?"
Su Liya shook her head, "No, I’m waiting for someone else."
Wu Dongyi lowered his voice, "Miss, I heard that Li Hao got arrested, is that true?"
"I don’t know."
"Ah!" Wu Dongyi sighed, "I’ve bought some products from him, no idea how CGG is going to handle this."
Upon hearing this, Su Liya sat up straight.
"So, sir, you’re a client of Li Hao’s too?"
Wu Dongyi hadn’t bought much, but seeing Su Liya’s somewhat excited eyes, he still said, "Bought a bit, just for fun!"
Su Liya pondered for a moment, "No wonder you came to our booth for a drink last time, Li Hao even toasted with you."
"Right?!" Wu Dongyi was just about to pull out his phone to show Su Liya Li Hao’s Moments.
But then he remembered that Chen Cheng was also sitting here last time, helping him to notice that he had been deleted.
"Not bad!" Wu Dongyi changed his tone: "Met a few times."
Su Liya pursed her lips, "Then you know Chen Cheng? He’s also Li Hao’s client."
Wu Dongyi’s eyes widened, "Chen Cheng? Not, that Cheng?"
Su Liya: "That’s the one..."
She didn’t know how to describe him for a moment, looked at the bottle of mineral water beside her, poured some out, and wrote a traditional character "Cheng" on the table.
While writing, she said, "He’s about 1.9 meters tall, and quite refined-looking."
"Dacheng isn’t 1.9 meters!" Wu Dongyi stealthily stood on his tiptoes, "About the same height as me, right?"
"Refined? I didn’t see that!" he continued.
Su Liya’s eyes lit up, "You really know Chen Cheng?"
"Old friends!" Wu Dongyi patted his chest, "What’s up? Do you need him for something?"
"I..."
Before Su Liya could finish speaking, her phone rang.
As soon as she saw it was a call from Wen Shulin,
"Sorry, I need to take this call."
"Go ahead, take your time."
Su Liya quickly exited the convenience store, "Mommy."
"Liya, where are you?"
"I’m in the FamilyMart next to CGG."
"I’ll come pick you up right now," Wen Shulin said repeatedly, "The meeting went a little long. Are you hungry?"
"No, I got a sandwich and some water."
Wen Shulin chuckled, "Come on, Mommy will take you for something delicious!"
"Okay!"
After hanging up, Su Liya turned around and went back into the convenience store.
She walked towards the cashier and said to Wu Dongyi, who was still checking out, "Hello, sir."
"Eh?"
"Could you give me Chen Cheng’s contact information?" Su Liya pleaded. "I have something I want to find him for."
Wu Dongyi frowned, but couldn’t bring himself to refuse in the face of her pitiful look.
"Let’s do this, we’ll add each other as friends, and I’ll send you his business card."
Su Liya nodded repeatedly, "Okay!"
After Wu Dongyi scanned Su Liya’s QR code and added her, he did as promised and pushed Chen Cheng’s WeChat to her.
"Thank you, sir," Su Liya nodded slightly. "Let me buy you a Coke!"
She glanced at the items not yet checked out and casually took out a Black Card from her bag.
This startled the sharp-eyed Wu Dongyi.
"No need, no need. It’s not much money," he gestured with his hands.
But Su Liya insisted on letting the clerk swipe the card, and finally thanked him again, "Thank you."
After saying this, she left the convenience store.
"Brother Wu, aren’t you an acquaintance? How come you’ve only added each other on WeChat today?" the clerk asked.
"This is how we’ve become acquainted," Wu Dongyi said curiously as he opened Su Liya’s profile and noticed that there was no option for Moments.
Carrying the Coke, he walked outside while sending Chen Cheng a WeChat message: "Hey Dacheng! Guess who I met today?"
The moment Su Liya stepped out, a Maserati stopped right in front of her.
Wen Shulin lowered the car window, "Get in, Li Ya."
She nodded slightly and got into the passenger seat.
"Shall we go for barbecue, sound good?" Wen Shulin inquired.
But Su Liya’s mind was all on Chen Cheng.
She turned to look at Wen Shulin and couldn’t help but ask, "Mommy, who is Chen Cheng?"
Screech!
Wen Shulin slammed on the brakes, bringing the car that had just started moving to an abrupt halt.
Beep beep beep...
The cars behind were honking in displeasure.
Wen Shulin then set off again, steering the wheel while inquiring, "Why do you ask about him?"
Seeing her mother react this way, Su Liya felt certain there was something between them.
"Mommy, is he the friend you mentioned?" she asked frankly, "The one who gave you the surveillance video?"
"No... He’s not."
Su Liya furrowed her brows, "Right, he’s Li Hao’s client, it wouldn’t be possible..."
She turned her head and thought again, and then asked, "Then why did he say he’s your forever partner?"
Wen Shulin finally understood that Su Liya had come across that note.
"Liya, you’ve misunderstood," Wen Shulin said, smiling lightly. "Partner, as in mate. It doesn’t have any other meaning."
"But he wrote forever, forever!"
With a smile on her lips, Wen Shulin reached out and pinched the tender cheek, "You’re Mommy’s forever."
"But..."
Su Liya felt that there was more to it. Her phone vibrated.
She picked it up to see that Chen Cheng had rejected her friend request.
Now the clouds of doubt in her mind thickened.
