While Megan fought the stone Death Knight at the construction site, Lindsey and Irina were busy dealing with Radeon, whose unknown magic proved to be a problem for the pair.
Lindsey's elemental magic allowed her to deflect and avoid most of the spells directed at her. However, Irina struggled to land a hit on the skeleton.
When it came to close combat, Irina had more experience and physical strength than Lindsey, while the blonde had a larger mana pool to cast spells.
Considering that the vampire couldn't even get close to the Death Knight, fighting him with magic was their best choice.
Radeon used the battle to study Lindsey's magic in more detail. The skeleton was aware of how elementalists used their mana, but it was his first time seeing someone who could use all four elements with ease.
Still, Lindsey seemed to rely heavily on her wind element and only used the others on specific occasions, which caught Radeon's attention. 𝓃𝓸𝓋𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝒸ℴ𝓶
At one point, Irina managed to close the distance between them and coated her claws with a few drops of her own blood, swinging with ferocity and prompting Radeon to take a quick step to the side.
The skeletal Death Knight barely avoided the vampire's claws, but the drops of blood that coated her fingers generated an arc of blood that traveled straight toward Radeon, hitting him in the head and leaving a mark on his skull.
Annoyed by the attack, Radeon turned his attention to the vampire sentinel and waved his hand to the side with anger.
"Shadow Release," the Death Knight muttered, producing a black wave of shadows that seemed to fully blind Irina.
The vampire tried to step back to regain her vision, but it was to no avail. When she felt her leg getting gripped, she gritted her teeth as she was flung down towards a building on the opposite side.
After getting rid of Irina for a bit, Lindsey cast a massive fireball to counter him, prompting Radeon to raise his bony hands forward.
"Flame Quell," the skeleton said.
His protective spell was meant to reduce the flame's potency, but before he could dispel it, a wind spear traveled through the middle of the fireball and hit the Death Knight on the chest, pushing him back until he almost fell from the building's rooftop.
When the smoke from the fire dissipated, Lindsey noticed that Radeon had used both of his arms to protect his chest, and she wondered if it could be his weak spot.
"Ah, I believe I understand," Radeon commented, lowering his arms and gazing at Lindsey, who was standing on the edge of the rooftop.
"Creating an element uses a lot more mana than bending the elements around you…" the skeleton continued.
"It took you this long to figure out something that basic?" Lindsey asked. Her tone was sarcastic, but she wholly meant it.
"Why would I spend my time learning about a rare type of magic that I can't use?" Radeon replied with another question.
"You understand. It's not like you are familiar with my arsenal of spells…" he continued.
Radeon used to be a mage in the world of Terra, who was shunned by other wizards after they found out that he had been dabbling with "forbidden spells."
Forbidden spells were the closest a wizard could get to casting dark magic, and casters were prohibited from using them for a reason.
These forbidden spells were known to corrupt the mages who used them with whispers and dreams until they turned into a Netherlord, and Radeon had been one of the wizards curious enough to become one.
While Lindsey knew about netherlords and their magic, she wasn't completely familiar with everything her opponent could cast, so she played it safe from a distance to bait the skeleton into using more of his magic.
When Radeon opened his bony palms, two energy orbs that looked like small, black vortexes appeared on top of them, making Lindsey widen her eyes with fear and anticipation.
'I don't know what that is, but I know I can't let it touch me…' The blonde thought.
"Pain Spiral!" Radeon shouted, clasping both of his hands together and fusing the two spinning energy orbs.
Right as his bony hands made contact, a giant black vortex that looked like a portal appeared in front of Radeon, releasing strands of black lightning that began striking all of its surroundings.
At first, Lindsey stayed calm and managed to avoid the first few strands that traveled towards her. However, the indiscriminate and seemingly random barrage of attacks wasn't easy to predict.
After the blonde jumped back and used wind magic to get away, she was caught by one of the black bolts of lightning and felt an intense wave of excruciating pain flowing through her entire body.
The pain made Lindsey lose focus on her wind spell, but she was lucky enough to land on the rooftop of an adjacent building, where she kneeled and scratched the floor as the pain inside her body didn't go away.
Lindsey couldn't move a single muscle, which were twitching from the agony of the spell she had received.
"See? Elemental magic can only get you so far…" Radeon commented, slowly levitating his way to the rooftop where Lindsey landed.
The blonde wanted to refute his statement, but her body was shocked in place, and when she looked up at her opponent, she saw the skeleton charging another vortex in his palm.
'Damnit!' Lindsey thought, gritting her teeth and preparing herself to take another hit.
*Bang, bang, bang!* Three shots roared loudly, prompting Lindsey to raise her head back up and see Radeon holding the side of his cranium, where a trail of smoke came out.
Turning to the side, she spotted Irina with a bloody face, and her wings extended, hovering slightly above them while carrying Megan with both hands.
The brunette used one hand to hold on to Irina and used her other hand to shoot a few reinforced bullets at Radeon, and she was glad to see that they had an effect.
Those bullets would have blown off the head of any ordinary person, but Radeon's bones seemed to be almost as strong as the stone Death Knight's armor. Still, the projectiles were good enough to halt him for a moment.
