Chapter 148: 148, Why so Stupid (1)_1

Bai Jue stood aside, his gaze lingering over the two of them, not interjecting.

It had been so long since he had seen Black Jack treat Jian Luo with such indifference. It seemed that Jian Luo really had annoyed Black Jack this time.

“I…” Jian Luo looked up at him, realizing that he was in the wrong, and, with an earnest attitude, he apologized, “Black Jack, I’m sorry. I promise you, I won’t repeat it.”

Seeing that Black Jack’s face was still sullen, Jian Luo started getting anxious. He attempted to steady himself and reach out to Black Jack, completely forgetting that he still had an IV drip attached to his hand.

“Hiss–”

He pulled at the newly stitched wound on his hand. The pain made him furrow his brows, and the hue of his cherry pink lips lost its color instantly.

“Cool down.” The moment he felt the pain, Black Jack immediately forgot about any lingering resentment and quickly helped him back onto the bed.

A crafty glint flashed deep in Jian Luo’s eyes, and when he raised his head, his face held a touch of resentment. He lifted his bandaged arm and placed it in front of Black Jack.

“It hurts.”

Bai Jue glanced at the man pretending to be pitiful and couldn’t help but twitch the corners of his mouth.

This performance. Not becoming an actor would be a complete waste of talent.

Black Jack saw blood seeping through the white bandage, and his handsome face instantly clouded over with concern. “Bai Jue, hurry and come check his bandage.”

Bai Jue, “…”

He knew that he was always the one who suffered in the end.

Bai Jue resignedly walked up to the bed and nonchalantly began to unravel the bandage on Jian Luo’s hand.

“Hiss–” Jian Luo furrowed his brows slightly.

“Be gentle.” Black Jack stood aside and seeing Jian Luo frown, he immediately yelled at Bai Jue.

“That’s a wound from a knife attack, you better not aggravate it.”

The vein at Bai Jue’s temple throbbed. He wanted to throw the unraveled bandage right onto Black Jack’s face. “You do it if you can.”

Damn it, he felt like giving up.

So it was a knife wound. So what?

Would it be more severe than a gunshot wound?

Black Jack stared intently at Jian Luo’s injured arm, wishing he could transfer the wound onto himself.

Bai Jue took hold of the disinfectant and bandage from nearby, and as he redid the dressing, he didn’t forget to lecture him.

“Jian Luo, how can you be so foolish? I’m starting to doubt if you and your sister are truly twins.”

“Your sister is so sharp, and yet you’re so foolish. Others asked you to leave, and rather than heading off, you foolishly got involved in this mess.”

Jian Luo watched the bandage in Bai Jue’s hands, wanting to snatch it away and wrap it around his mouth, just to stop him from belittling him incessantly.

“Okay, don’t let this hand come in contact with water for a few days. I’ll bring a special ointment for you later, and I promise it won’t leave a scar.” Bai Jue casually tied a fancy butterfly knot on the bandage and said nonchalantly.

Jian Luo didn’t care much about whether it would scar, but when he saw Black Jack’s stern face, he obediently listened without arguing.

“Bai Jue, get the discharge papers arranged for him.” said Black Jack.

Upon hearing that, Jian Luo hurriedly refused, “No, I can’t go back. It will worry Grandpa.”

With his current condition, his grandfather would surely find out if he went back home. And then it would be just like his sister finding out. Absolutely not, he would rather die than go back home.

“Then come to my place.” Black Jack shot him a glance, dropping his words in a cold tone.

Now that he was panicking, he realized the gravity of the situation and wasn’t acting macho anymore.

Hearing that he wasn’t going back to the manor, Jian Luo did not object. He lifted the covers and was about to get out of bed.

“What are you doing?” Black Jack swiftly stopped him, his face turning unhappy.

“Aren’t we going back?” Jian Luo looked up and asked in confusion.

Black Jack supported his arm, his eyes reflecting Jian Luo’s slightly pale face. The anger that was churning in his heart instantly dissipated seeing him in pain.

“Slow down.”

Jian Luo obediently nodded his head, and his actions slowed accordingly.

Bai Jue swept his gaze over the two of them and couldn’t help but shake his head.

He was really done with the two of them. Just moments ago, they were angry as ever, but the moment one of them got hurt, they instantly turned into sentimental fools.

Well, each thing does defeat another!

When Quan Jingwu came back after finishing his meeting, he saw someone curled up sleeping on the sofa. An intoxicating smile formed on Feibo’s lips.

Upon hearing the sound of footsteps, Jian Qing’s eyes flew open, her gaze clear, revealing no sign of her recent slumber.

When she saw who it was, she smiled faintly, “Done with the meeting?”

“Yes.” Quan Jingwu walked over to her, bent down, and lifted her into his arms.

As for his actions, Jian Qing had long stopped finding them strange. She was indeed getting used to his embrace and accustomed to him.

Sitting down on the sofa with her in his arms, Quan Jingwu pinched her cheek and said, “Darling, my grandmother’s birthday is tomorrow.”

“Huh?” Jian Qing raised her brow slightly, somewhat anticipating what he would say next.

“So, let’s go back together tomorrow. Is that okay?” He looked into her eyes, swearing not to force her if she bore any reluctance.

Jian Qing’s gaze lowered, neither giving her consent nor denying it.

Quan Jingwu’s violet eyes deepened. The last thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable.

“Darling, if you don’t want to, we won’t go.”

After a while, Jian Qing looked up to meet his deep violet gaze. She smiled and said, “What do you think would be a suitable gift for your grandmother’s birthday?”

She couldn’t possibly attend her birthday celebration empty-handed, could she?

Quan Jingwu’s violet eyes brightened, and a low chuckle escaped his lips, clearly displaying his delight.

“Silly girl, your presence would be the best gift.”

Jian Qing glared at him, “Could you be serious? My skin isn’t as thick as yours.”

He reached out to lightly scratch her nose, eliciting a soft rebuke from her, “Should I accompany you while shopping?”

Jian Qing replied, satisfied with his response.

“Then get back to work quickly,” she urged.

Quan Jingwu’s large hand was circling around her waist, not allowing her to leave. “No need, let’s go right now.”

“Now?” Jian Qing looked at the desk which held a large stack of files.

“Did you forget about those files?”

“Someone will handle them,” chuckled Quan Jingwu in a hoarse voice.

Seeing him, Jian Qing instantly understood what he meant and said with a bitter smile, “I must say, this… isn’t fair, is it?”

Quan Jingwu raised his brow lightly, “Baby, I’m skipping work just for you.”

Jian Qing, “…”

So she was the real culprit?

Picking up her shoes, Jian Qing watched his side profile, her eyes filled with amusement.

“Xiaojing, don’t you think you’re spoiling me too much by doing this?”

After helping her put on the last shoe, Quan Jingwu finally lifted his head and looked at her, “Even if it spoils you, it’s me who’s doing it. Let’s see who has the guts to comment on that.”

His magnetic voice was much softer than it used to be, pulsating with an untold tenderness.

“Ha, Ha!” Jian Qing couldn’t help but laugh.

Holding her hand, Quan Jingwu led his wife away for their little escapade.

As they passed by the think tank team’s office, the conversation inside made Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing stop in their tracks.

“What do you guys think? Did the Boss finally manage to win over the First Lady?” Yi Kai’s voice was leisurely and easily recognizable.

“My take is, the Boss has already successfully wooed the First Lady, fulfilling our initial bet. So, technically we won,” Mingdong voiced his opinion.
