Chapter 209: 209, Turned into a Drenched Chicken (4)_1
“If Young Master Han is envious, there should be a lot of women lining up to debone fish for you,” said Jian Qing, her lips curving slightly as she replied.
“No thanks, I’d probably lose my appetite after they finish deboning the fish,” Han Yue retorted with a light cough.
“By the way, Jian Qing, did anyone used to debone fish for you?” Quan Mingxuan asked, stirring the pot.
Jian Qing nodded, prompting Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue to look at her with sparkling eyes.
“Who was it?”
A hint of softness flickered in Jian Qing’s eyes. “Luoluo!” She said.
Instinct told them that Luoluo was a man’s name.
“Is Luoluo a man or a woman?” Han Yue asked curiously.
“A man.” She took a cold look at the excited pair and said plainly.
“Jingwu, did you hear that? A man.” Han Yue, far from satisfied, continued to cause trouble, ignoring his barbecued fish.
Quan Jingwu remained composed, continuing to debone the fish.
Looking at his indifferent response, Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue exchanged glances. Something was wrong. Why wasn’t Jingwu jealous at all?
“What are you all so excited about? It’s just my brother deboning fish for me,” Jian Qing added nonchalantly.
Brother?
Did she just say brother?
Han Yue’s charming peach blossom eyes widened in disbelief, looking at Jian Qing. “Your brother?”
Jian Qing looked at him amusingly. “Is there something abnormal about me having a brother?”
Quan Mingxuan suddenly remembered that Jian Qing does have a twin brother. Her mother gave birth to a pair of dragons and phoenix twins. That’s right, their grandfather mentioned it before. But why didn’t he see her brother when Jian Qing returned to Beijing?
“Jian Qing, why didn’t your brother return to Beijing with you?” Quan Mingxuan put down his chopsticks and inquired cautiously.
With a light smile, Jian Qing replied, “He will be coming soon.”
“Jian Qing, does your brother look like you?” Han Yue asked. He has heard that twins usually look quite alike.
A male version of Jian Qing was difficult for him to imagine.
“You’ll see when you meet him,” responded Jian Qing.
“Smells good, so you guys are the ones barbecuing.” Ye Tuo and his group approached. Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan exchanged a glance, realizing that they probably wouldn’t be able to enjoy their barbecued fish.
“Young Master Han, hiding here to barbecue…how elegant of you,” An Yun playfully said with a chuckle.
With a sip of wine, Han Yue casually responded, “Just killing some time.”
Chu Yihen looked at Jian Qing with an inscrutable gaze before nonchalantly suggesting, “Young Master Han, you won’t mind us joining the fun, right?”
Laughing genially, Han Yue responded, “Of course not.”
“In that case, I’ll ask the waiter to bring over the supplies,” chimed in Ye Tuo.
Thankfully, there were plenty of lounge and reclining chairs in the fishing area. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been enough seating for everyone. The crowd took their respective seats, but their attention was drawn towards Quan Jingwu, whose presence was impossible to ignore.
Especially the sight of Quan Jingwu deboning fish for Jian Qing stirred feelings of envy, admiration, and resentment among the numerous ladies present.
After eating almost a whole fish, Jian Qing stopped.
“Drink some mint honey water.” Quan Jingwu wiped his hands with a napkin and handed a cup of water to Jian Qing. “Wait here, I’ll go wash my hands.”
“Okay.” Jian Qing nodded, holding the cup of water.
“Jian Qing, when are you going to go car racing with us?” Since witnessing Jian Qing’s racing skills the day before, Han Yue had been unable to forget it.
“We have a racetrack in Beijing. If you’re available, come with Jingwu to find me and Axuan. We’re usually there.”
“We’ll see.” Jian Qing nodded, placing the cup of water back on the table.
Quan Mingxuan asked, “Jian Qing, where are you and Jingwu planning to go later?”
“Xiaojing has some documents to process later, so we probably won’t go out.” She also has mountains of paperwork to get through. Considering the hot weather, it’s better for them not to go out.
As she spoke, Jian Qing put her feet down and bent down to put on her shoes.
“Jian Qing, sit for a while longer. Everyone’s just arrived, we can take some time to get to know each other.” Song Xirou said gently.
Jian Qing stood up, picked up her book, and said, “No need.”
“Jian Qing, what are you pretending to be noble for? Do you really think you’re special because you’re from the An family?” The woman sitting next to Song Xirou said in a mocking tone, her eyes full of jealousy as she stared at Jian Qing.
Han Yue glanced at the woman who had just spoken. A mischievous smile appeared on his handsome face. “Axuan, that woman must be from the newly arrived Li family in Beijing. She really takes after her nouveau riche father.”
Proudly flaunting their wealth showing off their jewellery everywhere, oblivious to the fact that others are aware of their nouveau riche status. They just arrived in Beijing and don’t even fully grasp the city, yet they’re being manipulated by others. How foolish they are.
Song Xirou’s face turned a shade of embarrassment. “Jian Qing, don’t mind her. Miss Li didn’t mean any harm.”
“That’s true; why should an illegitimate daughter feel proud?” Li Meimei stared at Jian Qing’s gorgeous face, wishing she could directly ruin it.
“Like mother, like daughter, all of the same kind.”
Quan Mingxuan’s face turned colder. He was going to stand up for Jian Qing, but she stopped him.
“I can handle this myself.”
Jian Qing’s eyes turned icy, a dangerous smile tugged her lips.
With that, she walked slowly towards Li Meimei.
“Miss Song, could you step aside, please?” She stood still, and looked at Song Xirou, who was in her way.
Song Xirou looked at Jian Qing reluctantly, then stood up and stepped aside.
“You, what are you going to do?” Li Meimei, with her thick makeup and exaggerated attire, said disdainfully with full confidence.
Jian Qing placed one hand in her pocket. The sunlight fell on her side profile, accentuating her cool demeanor. “Repeat your last sentence.”
Her cold voice spoke calmly and unhurriedly, silencing everyone.
Li Meimei looked up in annoyance, inadvertently meeting Jian Qing’s deep gaze. The words stuck in her throat.
“I…”
“Afraid now?” Jian Qing’s red lips curled into a grin.
Li Meimei straightened her back, “I’ll say it, you and your mother are both -”
In a flash, Jian Qing raised her hand. The thick book in her hand slapped directly across Li Meimei’s right face. The action was so swift that it left an afterimage.
“Ah--”
Li Meimei was knocked off balance by the book, completely disoriented. She lost her footing and fell directly into the fish pond.
“Splash--”
A huge splash ensued, and everyone was stunned.
This….wasn’t this a bit too brutal?
“Hahahaha!”
Two laughter broke the pause. Who else could it be other than Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan?
Truly as expected of Jian Qing, that action was so boss.
Chu Yihen watched her slender figure from behind, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Jian Qing glanced at her book. The back cover stained with spots of foundation. It was an eyesore.
It seemed she had to think of something else to swat flies next time; they’ve dirtied her book.
“Cough cough cough--”
After struggling in the pond, Li Meimei made it to the side of the pool. The sight of the fishes in the pond shocked her, her face paled in fright as she hurriedly swam to the shore.
Now she was truly a drowned rat.
