Chapter 210: 210, Accuse Her of Premeditated Murder (1)_1
Chapter 210: 210, Accuse Her of Premeditated Murder (1)_1
Everyone stared at Jian Qing, still taken aback by what had just happened.
What was that all about?
Turns out, the rumors were somewhat accurate. They had just witnessed Jian Qing’s ruthlessness and brutality firsthand.
“Cough, cough–”
Li Meimei choked on water, incessantly coughing. Her fine makeup had smudged, with eyeliner and eyeshadow intermingling into an appalling sight.
Even worse, her soaked slim-fit dress clung closely to her body, revealing her alluring figure, with even the color and style of her underwear vaguely discernible.
The eyes of several rich young gents at the event were drawn to her, lit up with an apparent predatory gleam.
Chu Ruohan glanced at Jian Qing’s retreating figure, a ripple of fear passed through her.
There was no denying that toppling Jian Qing would be a daunting task.
“Jian Qing, you lunatic!” Li Meimei finally caught her breath, staggering to her feet, her heaving chest becoming even more prominent.
“You dared to push me into the water, do you know who I am? I’ll sue you for attempted murder.” She brushed back her wet hair and pointed at Jian Qing in anger.
“Really?” Jian Qing lifted her brows and shot her an icy glance, “Sue me for murder?”
Han Yue pitied Li Meimei. She was so insensible, beyond salvation.
Suing Jian Qing for murder?
Was she hankering for trouble?
Li Meimei glared menacingly, “Yes, I’m going to sue you for attempted murder. Everyone here saw you push me into the pool.”
Jian Qing smirked, “I didn’t push you in. I slapped you in, and ew, you even dirtied my book.”
She waved the original edition book in her hand, appearing slightly regretful.
“Hehe!” Quan Mingxuan chuckled while rubbing his chin, finding it hard to hold back his laughter.
He couldn’t help it, apparently there was a technique to berating people.
“You…” Li Meimei’s face turned beet red, her finger trembled as she pointed at Jian Qing.
Jian Qing took a few leisurely steps towards her. As Li Meimei saw her approaching, the sheer terror of her previous ordeal made her back away.
“What…what are you trying to do?”
“Weren’t you going to sue me for attempted murder?” Jian Qing raised an eyebrow, noticing a small swollen wound on Li Meimei’s forehead. She laughed coldly, “Your minor head injury wouldn’t stand in court. Maybe I should add some more?”
Li Meimei felt a jolt of fear. Before she could dodge, Jian Qing’s book again swung at her, not reducing its previous force in the slightest.
“Splash–”
History repeated itself as Li Meimei was sent tumbling back into the pool.
Once again, a huge splash of water sprayed everywhere. The assorted ladies of honor gasped and jumped back, fearing they might get splashed as well.
The others were collectively dumbstruck. Did they really have to keep getting shocked like this?
Was this really a woman?
“Jian…Jian Qing, have you gone mad?”
In the pool, Li Meimei resurfaced, a gash on her forehead dripping with blood. Clutching her wound, she yelled hysterically.
“You psycho, cough, cough… I won’t let you off the hook.”
Jian Qing stood by the pool, looking down at her. A playful smirk danced in her eyes, “You can get a check-up now. I’ve never received a lawyer’s letter before. I hope you can give me that experience.”
The cool remark provoked Li Meimei to the brink of exploding with rage. She thrashed her hands against the water’s surface.
“Jian Qing, don’t you think this is a bit too much?” Song Xirou stepped forward, looking at Li Meimei struggling in the pool, asked in a soft voice.
Jian Qing turned to look at her, a small smile playing on her lips, “Are you pleading for her?”
“Jian Qing, I didn’t mean that, I just think…” Song Xirou tried to explain, looking completely at a loss.
She wanted to play the good guy, but Jian Qing was in no mood to play along.
“If you want to help her, you can pull her out. I don’t mind.”
Song Xirou smiled awkwardly, remaining silent.
“Sweetheart!”
The sound of Quan Jingwu’s voice rang out, and everyone immediately made way for him.
He walked over, glanced at Li Meimei in the pool, looking quite pitiful, his eyes briefly darkened.
“Are you hurt?”
Jian Qing shook her head with a laugh, “I’m fine.”
Everyone remained silent, “…”
Isn’t it obvious who is hurt?
Jian Qing was the one doing the hitting, how could she get hurt?
“Jingwu, that woman threatened to sue Jian Qing for attempted murder and send her a lawyer’s letter.” Han Yue interjected.
As soon as these words fell, everyone felt a sudden chill. Li Meimei, who had just climbed onto the bank, froze in place.
“Mr. Jingwu, I, I didn’t, she made a mess and pushed me into the pool. Out of anger, I just said those things.” Li Meimei hastily got up, brushed her hair back from her forehead, revealing the bleeding injury.
Everyone couldn’t help but laugh, looking mockingly at Li Meimei. Had she lost her mind?
Why instead of feigning helplessness and portraying herself as a victim, did she choose to do it right before the cold-hearted Quan Jingwu, and the person she complained against was Jian Qing?
How naive!
Quan Jingwu didn’t even bother to look at her. He turned to Han Yue, his icy voice devoid of pity, “Throw her back in, deal with the rest as usual.”
Han Yue nodded in understanding, grinning. It seemed the Li family, fresh in Beijing for only a few days, was about to vanish!
Everyone present, whether rich or influential, understood the hidden meaning. It appeared the Li family had invoked a major disaster because of Li Meimei.
Seeing a change in the way people were looking at her, coupled with Quan Jingwu’s previous words, Li Meimei had a faint, ominous feeling.
“Let’s go.” Quan Jingwu took Jian Qing by the arm, and they left without looking back.
By the time Li Meimei gathered her thoughts, Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing were far gone.
“What did Mr. Jingwu mean just now?” Li Meimei grabbed someone she was relatively close to, asking in a desperate tone.
The woman pulled her hand away with a change of expression, displaying her disgust. “What could it possibly mean? You better not get me involved in whatever trouble you stirred up.”
This was typical of their social circle: stark interests overshadowed everything else.
Seeing the disdainful looks from seemingly close friends, Li Meimei turned deathly pale.
The incident had ruined their mood for the barbeque. One by one, everyone dispersed, leaving only Li Meimei by herself in the fishing area.
…
The trip to the Summer Resort was only for three days and two nights. The land bidding on the last day wasn’t open to the public. Every group prepared a bid beforehand and put it in a box, to be revealed by Ye Corporation’s employees.
Considering the presence of Quan Jingwu and Chu Yihen at the Summer Resort, everyone sensed that one of them would ultimately win the land bid, the rest were simply there for show.
As it turned out, JK International narrowly outbid Chu Yihen by a thin margin of one million to secure the land. The other big corporations sighed at JK International’s smug victory.
True to expectations, JK International’s investment was tremendously generous; they had no qualms about dropping a cool ten billion.
