Chapter 216: 216, Is it really him? (1) _1

“Jingwu, so you’re going to meet your future brother-in-law tonight?” Quan Mingxuan started to tease Quan Jingwu after his question was answered.

“Based on that call, it seems that your future brother-in-law isn’t too fond of you.” Han Yue chimed in, jokingly.

Quan Jingwu glanced sideways at the two of them, “Get lost.”

“Jingwu, let us join you tonight, we’d like to get to know your future brother-in-law better.” Quan Mingxuan suggested, grinning mischievously.

Quan Jingwu merely hummed in response. His prompt agreement rather startled Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan.

“Jingwu, when did you become so agreeable?” Han Yue looked at him suspiciously. Was this the same Quan Jingwu he knew?

The corners of Quan Jingwu’s eyes drooped, hiding the glint of mischief, “Feel free to tag along or not.”

If he didn’t divert these two to bother his future brother-in-law, when would he find time to spend alone with his sweetheart?

The sultry afternoon weather matched well with his heated mood.

In just one afternoon, the news spread like a virus throughout Beijing. Many were eager to watch Jian Qing’s spectacle, especially the wealthy ladies who were jealous of her relationship with Quan Jingwu. They were all eager to add insult to injury.

Inside the study room, the ticking of the pendulum on the clock filled the silent room.

The head of the An family paced nervously, occasionally glancing at the doorway.

As Aqiu’s figure appeared at the doorway, the anxious Elder An haste over with a sense of urgency.

“Take it easy, Sir!” Aqiu cried out in alarm, then hurried over to assist him.

“You’re in poor health, the doctor said you can’t get so agitated.”

Elder An sat down on the sofa with Aqiu’s assistance, hastily glancing at Aqiu, the wrinkles on his forehead deepening.

“So, what did you find?”

Aqiu poured him a glass of water and handed it over, “Sir, why don’t you drink some water first, I’ll explain everything slowly.”

Elder An took the glass and set it aside, and urged hastily, “Just spit it out, you’re making me anxious.”

“Sir, we checked it out. Miss Qing went to the airport to pick someone up this morning, and she was followed the whole time. The photo incident was orchestrated by someone behind the scenes.” Aqiu replied slowly.

Elder An cut him off, “Get to the point. Who did Qing go to the airport to pick up?”

On seeing the hopeful look in Elder An’s eyes, Aqiu gave a slight nod.

“Really?” Elder An’s stooping figure shuddered, a look of excitement crossed his face, “Is it really him?”

Yeye, will he really get to see him again?

Aqiu’s eyes were moist as he nodded, “We’ve had the CCTV footage from the airport checked, and the man with Miss Qing does bear a striking resemblance to her; they appear to be of similar age too. We think we’ve got the right person.”

Upon hearing this, tears welled up in Elder An’s eyes, his calloused hands tightly clenched together in excitement.

“That’s great, that’s great…”

He thought he would never see him again in this lifetime, but it seemed the Heavens were kind to him.

“Sir, please don’t get too excited, it’s not good for your health.” Aqiu reminded him from the side.

Right now, Elder An was overrun with a joy he couldn’t put into words. He looked at Aqiu and asked, “What about the surveillance footage? Has it been brought back?”

He wanted to see what Yeye looked like as a grown man. He remembered that as a child, Jian Qing looked exactly like her mother, while Yeye looked somewhat more like his own mother, but his mannerisms were just like that rascal’s.

“Yes, it’s here.” Aqiu took out his mobile phone, opened the surveillance footage, and passed the phone to Elder An.

In the video, Jian Luo, carrying his suitcase, had just disembarked from the plane. He was walking leisurely in the airport terminal, his handsome features, devoid of sunglasses, exposed to the sun, were particularly eye-catching.

Elder An’s hand holding the mobile phone was trembling slightly, his mouth breaking into a childlike grin, “He’s the spitting image of that rascal, they could have been cast from the same mold.”

It’s fascinating how genetics work, his face bears a striking resemblance to his mother, yet his expressions and mannerisms are exactly like that rascal. 𝘯𝑜𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝘤𝘰𝑚

Aqiu chuckled and nodded, “Yes, very much alike.”

“Is he at Shijin Haoting now?” Elder An asked after the video ended.

“Yes, Young Master Yeye was picked up by Miss Qing. They both went back to Shijin Haoting together.” Aqiu replied.

Elder An put down the phone, his eyes dimmed for a moment.

“Sir, we have to take things one step at a time. Now that Young Master Yeye is back in Beijing, we will have the chance to see him.” Aqiu reassured him.

Elder An sighed and nodded, “I know I can’t rush this.”

Aqiu then added, “Sir, there’s something else. The one behind the photos was a member of the Chu family.”

“The Chu family?” Elder An’s face darkened.

“Yes, it was Chu Ruohan, Chu Yihen’s sister.”

Such a young girl and she’s already so malicious. Her clumsy tactics are nothing compared to Chu Yihen’s. There’s a stark contrast between these two siblings.

Elder An questioned, “When did Qing get into trouble with the people from the Chu family?”

“Apparently, Chu Ruohan has a crush on Master Jingwu.” Aqiu said hesitantly.

Elder An’s eyes narrowed in anger, “That rascal again, always drawing bees and butterflies but now he’s gotten Qing involved as well. This is unforgivable.”

Listening quietly, Aqiu thought to himself that it didn’t seem like it was Quan Jingwu’s fault.

“Aqiu, make a call to the Chu family, and help me invite Chu Yan for tea.” Elder An said indifferently. It wasn’t anyone else’s place to calculate against the people of the An family.

“Yes, Sir.” Aqiu replied.

It seemed that Chu Ruohan had gotten herself and the old Master Chu into trouble this time.

“Is there any news from that rascal Quan Jingwu?” Asked Elder An.

“No, there haven’t been any unusual movements from Master Jingwu, which is quite strange.” Aqiu wrinkled his brow.

“Hmph!” Elder An snorted coldly, “That rascal is not one to be underestimated. Let’s just wait and see, he’s probably plotting something.”

Aqiu nodded in agreement, it was likely that Chu Ruohan was in big trouble now that she had involved Jian Qing.

Elder An took the phone again and continued watching the video, laughing as he watched, oblivious of the tears welling up in his eyes.

“Great. This is great. I can see Yeye before I breathe my last, I have no regrets now.”

Aqiu listened, feeling a pang of sorrow in his heart, unsure of how to comfort him.

Before the work day was over, Quan Jingwu left early, taking the two third wheels, Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan, back to Shijin Haoting.

Inside the car, Han Yue drove while Quan Mingxuan was busy explaining the photo incident to his family. He had been receiving calls non-stop since the news broke out.

He found it strange. It wasn’t his girlfriend, so why were the calls coming to him?
