Chapter 222: 222、A Sweet-faced Boy (2)_1
Thinking that he had guessed correctly, Jian Luo snorted a laugh, “I guessed it, do you really have a girlfriend? What’s her type?”
Perhaps his careless tone had hurt Black Jack, who stared at the photo on the desk, his eyes as sharp as a poisoned blade.
“Is she from M Country? Or another country, do I know her?” Jian Luo’s voice came again, his words grating on Black Jack’s ears.
A cold look in his eyes, Black Jack’s lips twitched, “Yes, you’ve guessed right this time, there is someone I like.”
Jian Luo’s pupils contracted, and he froze on the spot.
Could it be that he was right; Black Jack really had a girlfriend?
Pulling himself together, he asked for confirmation, “Black Jack, what did you just say?”
“I said, I have a girlfriend.” Black Jack replied in a low voice.
Well, wasn’t that what he wanted to hear?
Jian Luo asked, “So, you called me just to tell me this?”
Black Jack answered, “Yes.”
He longed to hear a hint of despair in Black Jack’s voice but was inevitably left disappointed.
With a touch of curiosity in his clear voice, Jian Luo asked, “Black Jack, what kind of person is the one you like? Is she pretty?”
“She’s clumsy, naïve, and when she smiles, her eyes light up like stars,” Black Jack’s whispered, a bitter taste surfacing in his heart.
A look of surprise flashed across Jian Luo’s face, followed by ridicule, “Black Jack, I never realized the girl you like was the clumsy type. Bai Jue would certainly laugh at you once she finds out.”
Black Jack hummed in acknowledgment, “I have things to do here. Got to go.”
Continuing the conversation might lead him to break the thin layer of pretense between them. The consequences of that were something he didn’t dare to imagine.
The entire world knows I like you. Only you remain unaware. Luo Xiaobai, what should I do with you?
After hanging up, Jian Luo looked up at the night sky, feeling a sudden heaviness in his heart.
When did he become so sentimental?
He shook his head, laughing at himself, lost in thought under the dark sky.
…
The day was high before Jian Luo swiftly descended downstairs after a night of sleep.
Seeing only Jian Qing in the living room, he couldn’t help but wonder.
“Why are you the only one here?”
That annoying ghost Quan Jingwu was even not here.
“Xiaojing has gone to work. You better go and eat breakfast.” Jian Qing didn’t even lift her head up, attentively dealing with an email from M country.
“Is anything up today?” Jian Luo asked as he sat down opposite her.
Jian Qing replied, “Our photo issue is still unresolved.”
“So what, where do we go? Surely we can’t just show up at their doorstep?”
Jian Qing put her laptop aside, looking at him, “Luoluo, I think there is something you should decide.”
“Hmm?” Jian Luo looked puzzled.
“This morning, I received a call from Grandfather An. He wants to see you,” she said.
Upon hearing this, Jian Luo paused for a moment, averting his gaze.
They have thought of this before their visit, but they didn’t expect it would come this fast.
Should he go see him?
The old man who cared for them so deeply when they were young…
“Luoluo, you don’t have to force yourself,” Jian Qing comforted.
After a brief pause, Jian Luo slowly responded, “Sis, should we go to the An family’s old mansion?”
This meant he would be willing to go see Old An.
Jian Qing nodded slightly.
“Shall we go later?” Jian Luo asked.
“Yes.” She nodded again.
Jian Luo stood up and headed to the dining room.
“I need to eat first, then we’ll go together.”
It was decided a long time ago: they, both siblings, would seek vengeance for their mother’s death together.
Watching his back, a slight smile spread across Jian Qing’s lips.
Her brother Luoluo; he must still have a soft spot for Grandfather An.
After finishing his meal, Jian Luo changed into new clothes and left with Jian Qing.
Since it was their first time in Beijing, and they knew nobody, naturally Jian Qing was in charge of driving.
As their car pulled out of Shijin Haoting, Jian Luo looked through the rear-view mirror at the black sedan parked not far away, a sneer of contempt played at the edges of his lips.
“Sis, a few rats are trailing us.”
Jian Qing laughed softly, “No problem, let’s deal with them all together after we leave the old mansion.”
“Ok.” Jian Luo withdrew his gaze and nodded.
As they approached the An family’s old mansion, a mixed feeling flashed in Jian Luo’s eyes; Grandfather An’s face appeared somewhat blurry in his mind.
“Miss Qing!”
The car stopped at the gate. All the security guards recognized Jian Qing, and immediately let her through.
Grandfather An had given instructions. Jian Qing could enter and exit the mansion without any checks. She had full access.
Parking the car in an open space near the courtyard, Jian Qing got out of the car, Jian Luo took his sunglasses and followed her out.
“Bam—”
He slammed the car door shut and walked into the living room alongside Jian Qing.
If you arrive at the right moment, it can be even better than arriving early. As they stepped into the living room, they saw it was full of people.
Jian Qing looked at the people in the room, suddenly realized that it was the weekend, which meant most of the An family would gather at the old mansion. However, she didn’t see Old An or Uncle Qiu.
Seeing Jian Qing suddenly show up with the man from yesterday’s photo, the members of the An family were taken aback. People like An Yu showed a hint of contempt when they looked at Jian Qing.
“It seems we’ve come at an inconvenient time,” said Jian Qing, her red lips lightly curving up in a faint smile.
Recently, resources were heavily reduced at the workplace, Yang Xiang had held grudges against Jianqing. To see Jian Qing was like looking at a bomb ready to go off with a single spark.
“I thought it was who, turns out it’s the star of yesterday’s scandal that’s shaken up all of Beijing!” A filled with sarcasm and mockery.
Then she sneered at the man standing next to Jian Qing, her tone filled with disdain, “What, it’s not humiliating enough so you bring your kept man here? Want to show off a bit?”
“Yang Xiang!” An Zhonghui bellowed.
Yang Xiang huffed unhappily, her gaze fixated on Jian Qing.
“Jian Qing, this is the An family. We don’t just let anyone in. Yesterday’s scandal has already spread across Beijing. Even if you don’t care, the An family has a name to uphold.” An Yu glanced at the man that stood by Jian Qing, a mocking smile in her eyes.
Did Jian Qing actually think that because she had Quan Jingwu backing her, she could get away with anything? She’d like to see, after such a scandal, would the Quan STILL accept a daughter-in-law that has mixed with men.
Jian Qing put her hands in her pockets, her facial expression did not change no matter what An Yu and others said.
With a closer look, one could see that the smiles on Jian Qing and Jian Luo’s faces matched perfectly.
However, the An family had never shown any interest in Jian Qing, let alone paying attention to the person Jian Qing was with.
“That’s right. Our An family is a well-respected family in Beijing. Jian Qing, if you want to keep a boy toy that’s your business, just don’t randomly bring him to the An family’s old mansion.” Yang Xiang couldn’t resist chiming in.
“Heh!” Jian Qing laughed softly, a fierce cold glint in her eyes, “You keep saying ‘boy toy,’ I wonder, where exactly is this ‘boy toy’ you’re talking about?”
