Chapter 223: 223. Intelligence is a good thing (3)_1
Jian Luo stood indifferently next to Jian Qing, a faint smile on her lips, ignoring the gaze from the crowd.
Yang Xiang sneered and stood up, walking towards Jian Qing and standing right in front of her.
“Jian Qing, stop playing dumb. You brought him here, but now you don’t have the guts to admit it?”
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Jian Luo.
“Yang Xiang, does your mouth know how to do anything apart from spewing excrement?” Jian Qing laughed; her sharp tongue instantly silenced Yang Xiang.
“Jian Qing, you…” Yang Xiang, flushed in anger, raised her hand to hit Jian Qing.
Jian Luo’s eyes behind his sunglasses cooled and he was ready to chop off her hand if she dared to strike.
“Yang Xiang, are you planning to accompany Xiang Cheng?” Jian Qing said, unhurriedly, not even attempting to avoid her.
Before her words even faded, Yang Xiang’s uplifted hand froze in mid-air, fear flashing in her eyes.
Seeing how things were turning out, Yang Lin quickly rose to pull Yang Xiang back, “Xiangxiang!”
“Jian Qing, don’t push your luck. I didn’t say a word wrong. The man you brought is your gigolo, right? You dare to do it, but you can’t bear us talking about it?” Yang Xiang retorted indignantly, glaring fiercely at Jian Qing.
“As floaty as you are, I really don’t understand what Mr. Jing sees in you,” she scoffed.
Jian Luo’s hand tensed, and Jian Qing extended her hand to hold him back.
Observing Jian Qing’s actions, Yang Xiang became even more unrestrained, “Look, your little lover boy is getting indignant on your behalf. Why are you stopping him? I would love to see what he can do to me.”
All the members of An Family watched the scene in silence, none of them defending Jian Qing.
Jian Qing was used to this and would find it strange if they actually stood up for her.
“An Rong!” An Zhonghui called out as a reminder.
No matter what, Jian Qing coming to the mansion today was definitely Grandpa’s idea. They should respect him and avoid causing a major incident.
Upon catching her father’s warning gaze, An Rong reluctantly stood up to restrain her daughter, “Xiangxiang, stop talking.”
“I won’t.” Yang Xiang wasn’t ready to let this scandal involving Jian Qing slide, shaking off An Rong’s hand.
She turned and looked at Jian Qing with disgust, “Like mother, like daughter. Jian Qing, you’ve really taken after your mother.”
Upon hearing these words, everyone’s facial expressions changed. Yang Lin tried to stop her sister, but it was already too late.
In an instant, the temperature in the living room dropped considerably cold.
An Chong looked at An Rong with displeasure, seemingly blaming her for failing to educate her daughter properly.
An Rong never expected her daughter to speak so impulsively. Remembering Xiang Cheng’s condition lying in the hospital bed, she quickly guarded against Jian Qing, fearing that she would strike Yang Xiang.
However, she was on guard against Jian Qing but she let Jian Luo slip.
Jian Qing’s expression became cold, and this time, she didn’t stop Jian Luo.
As he approached her, Yang Xiang sneered without concern.
“Boytoy, this isn’t the place for you to speak, I suggest you”
Before she could finish her sentence, Jian Luo interrupted her coldly, “Say what you just said again.”
“What, what?” Yang Xiang was shocked.
“What are you trying to do?” Yang Lin wasn’t as gullible as Yang Xiang, and she detected something was off from Jian Luo’s demeanor.
It wasn’t the kind of aura a gigolo would have.
“Scram!” Jian Luo glanced at her sideways and commanded coldly.
Seeing her sister being put down, Yang Xiang was certainly not happy. She yanked Yang Lin away from her, glaring at Jian Luo contemptuously.
“What’s your attitude? This is An family’s place, not where you can run wild.”
“Are you done speaking?” Jian Luo asked calmly.
Yang Xiang was stunned, “You… ”
“Hmph!” A mocking chuckle slipped from his lips, echoing in the air.
Almost simultaneously, Jian Luo raised his hand, and it landed.
“Slap–”
The sharp sound of a slap echoed around the living room.
The action was as fast as lightning, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
Yang Xiang’s pale cheek instantly turned red and swollen, with clear palm print on it.
A hot pain swept across her face. She cupped her cheek and looked at the man who just slapped her in disbelief.
“You, you dare to slap me?”
She, who had never been slapped by her parents in her life, was slapped by this gigolo in front of her.
Jian Luo shook his hand, glanced at her indifferently, “Yes, I did.”
His voice was gentle, frosty, arrogant, and wild.
The people around watched him, couldn’t help but think of Jian Qing.
This arrogance… they were eerily alike.
“Heh!” Jian Qing laughed, her eyes full of indulgence looking at Jian Luo.
“Ah, I won’t let you off!” Yang Xiang screamed hysterically. Her sharpened nails scratched towards Jian Luo.
However, if she wanted to settle the score, she had clearly underestimated the forceful response of the opposing casino.
Jian Luo swiftly dodged, a faint cold smile curling up his lips.
“Enough!” An Zhonghui stood up and shouted angrily.
Though frustrated, An Rong didn’t dare to challenge her father’s authority. She quickly restrained Yang Xiang, alongside Yang Lin.
“Mother, let go of me. I will kill him. He dared to hit me. I won’t let him off, never.”
As she bellowed, she kicked towards Jian Luo’s direction, looking utterly like a crazy woman.
“Yang Xiang, what on earth are you doing!” An Zhonghui scolded angrily.
With his stern rebuke, Yang Xiang slightly calmed down. Meeting his gloomy gaze, she tried hard to suppress her anger.
“Grandpa, it was clearly his fault, I… ”
“Enough! Stand there and stay quiet.” An Zhonghui said impatiently.
Yang Xiang was silenced and stood off to the side under the guidance of An Rong.
After dealing with her, An Zhonghui turned his eyes to Jian Qing and her companion. He spoke, expressionless.
“Jian Qing, since Grandpa acknowledges you as a part of An Family, I ask you to consider our reputation. I hope there will be no second occurrence of rumors like yesterday’s.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Qing’s expression was unreadable.
“And regarding the person you brought, since he hit Yang Xiang, let him apologise and we’ll consider the matter closed.” An Zhonghui, accustomed to his high position, spoke with an air of finality; it was as though he was giving orders to his subordinates.
Jian Qing gave Yang Xiang a quick look-over. Seeing her glare at Jian Luo with a fierce expression, she coldly smirked. “Yang Xiang, intelligence is a good thing, if you have it, remember to use it. If not, better to keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, exposing your minuscule, limited intelligence could bring bad luck.”
At this, a hint of laughter escaped from the corner of Jian Luo’s lips.
Just like his sister as always—her sharp tongue was as potent as ever.
“Jian Qing, you-” Yang Xiang’s face flushed red and she stormed over, looking all set for battle.
“If you want to stay in the hospital for a while, then please proceed.” Jian Qing’s nonchalant reply halted Yang Xiang’s advance.
