Chapter 256: 256, Personally Catch You (2)_1
“Sweetie, time to take your medicine.” Quan Jingwu held out the pills and a cup of water.
“So sleepy…” Jian Qing yawned, her sparkling eyes looking even more enticing.
She swallowed the pill he fed her. The bitter taste spread across her mouth, and she immediately took the cup of water and gulped down several mouthfuls.
“So bitter…hmm…”
Before she could finish complaining about the taste of the pill, a piece of candy was popped into her mouth.
“Is it better now?” He pinched her cheek, and his crimson lips curved into a doting smile.
The slight sweetness of the candy dispelled the bitterness in her mouth. Jian Qing squinted and smiled, “It’s alright.”
“How about this?”
He hooked up her chin and leaned in for a kiss.
Jian Qing’s clear eyes widened in surprise at the face approaching hers. How could this man be so bold and presumptuous?
She tried to retreat, but was held in place by his arm around her waist, unable to break free.
His thin lips met her soft lips, his tongue prodding lightly. The candy in her mouth was seized by him.
He stole her candy?
Jian Qing’s competitive spirit flared up. She couldn’t always be the one on the losing end. That would be too embarrassing!
Having made up her mind, she wrapped her arms around his neck and used her tongue to retrieve the candy, a challenging smile in her eyes.
A smile spread across Quan Jingwu’s frosty face, and a look of danger flashed through Jian Qing’s eyes. His kiss suddenly became more passionate and intense as if he was about to devour her.
After a long while, Jian Qing’s hand, which had been around his neck, slid down to grasp at his collar, feeling as though she’d plunged into water and had lost her breath.
“Sweetheart, still bitter?” He released her, resting his forehead against hers.
His hoarse and enchanting voice, slightly teasing, was downright sinful.
Jian Qing quickly shook her head, her weak body leaning against his, trying to regulate her breathing.
So, kissing requires lung capacity too! 𝖓𝔬𝖛𝔭𝔲𝖇.𝔠𝔬𝖒
“Do you want to sleep a bit more?” Quan Jingwu asked in his hoarse voice after his hunger was sated.
Jian Qing nodded, “Mm.”
Quan Jingwu looked at her with a smile, then picked her up effortlessly and proceeded upstairs.
…
At the An Family’s place
In the study room
“You ungrateful boy, are you blind to your grandfather?” A vigorous voice echoed through the room.
Aqiu poured some tea while watching Grandpa An, who was on a video call, with amusement.
Grandpa An’s tone was filled with anger, but his eyes on the video call were brimming with laughter.
Clearly, he was in a good mood today.
“Grandfather, I’m busy here. If you don’t have anything else to tell me, I’ll hang up now.” The man on the other end of the video said, his voice deep.
“An Zhe, you devil, if you dare hang up, never bother coming back!” Grandpa An’s beard twitched in anger.
Yes, the one video calling with Grandpa An was none other than An Zhe, who spent most of his time away from the An family.
An Zhe, nonchalant of his grandfather’s angry outburst, replied calmly, “That works, I’m busy lately anyway. I don’t have the time to come back to Beijing.”
“You, you little son of a bitch, are you trying to kill me with anger?” Grandpa An wished he could fly overseas right now just to beat him up.
“My Lord, have a cup of tea first,” Aqiu proposed, handing him a cup of tea.
Grandpa An took the offered tea and complained to Aqiu, “Aqiu, tell me, has this wretched boy’s conscience been consumed by dogs? He has no respect for elders or love for the young.”
Aqiu simply smiled and chose not to voice an opinion on the matter between the grandfather and grandson.
After a few sips of tea, Grandpa An got to the point, “Ah Zhe, it’s less than a month before the family’s ancestor-worshipping ceremony. No matter what your reasons are, you must come back then. If not, this old man will come and fetch you.”
An Zhe frowned. Grandpa had never been this adamant about him returning for the ancestor-worshipping ceremony, what was different this time?
“Grandfather, are you hiding something from me?”
On hearing this, Grandpa An tensed up. This boy was always spot-on with his guesses.
“You’ll know when you come back.”
It was better to discuss such matters in person, but he wasn’t mentally prepared, and didn’t know how to bring it up.
An Zhe, his hawk-like eyes hinting at suspicion, cautiously asked, “Grandfather, you wouldn’t happen to have set up a blind date for me, would you?”
Every time he came back to Beijing, his parents would bring up the issue of his marriage. He was so tired of hearing about it that he had no desire to return home.
Upon his words, Grandpa An was so enraged that he was ready to stamp his feet in anger, “Am I that kind of person? In all these years, have I ever suggested you to get married?”
God damn it, this boy was really ungrateful.
An Zhe patiently waited for his grandfather to finish venting before further stating, “Then what else could it be? You had Aqiu call me to remind me to come back for the ancestor-worshipping ceremony, and then you personally called me to ask me to return. Don’t tell me there’s nothing going on.”
Anything unusual should be dealt with suspicion. Had something happened at home recently?
Why insist on returning for the ancestor-worshipping ceremony?
“Anyway, I’ve made myself clear, if you dare not come back, I guarantee you’ll regret it.” Afraid of revealing too much, Grandpa An threw down these harsh words and then ended the video call.
“My Lord, I thought you wanted to chat with the young master for a bit longer, why did you end the call so abruptly?” Aqiu looked puzzled as he saw him put down the phone.
Grandpa An gave a self-mocking smile, “Ah Zhe is too smart and if I talked any longer he would have gotten something out of me.”
“My Lord, are you afraid that the young master won’t be able to accept Miss Jian Qing and Master Jian Luo’s existence?” Aqiu asked. Given the scheming that took place years ago, An Zhe had been living abroad long-term. If it weren’t for Grandpa An still in Beijing, he probably wouldn’t come back once a year.
Grandpa An stroked his beard thoughtfully and said slowly, “Ah Zhe has not been able to forget the woman deeply buried in his heart for so many years. He’s still not married because he can’t find her. He’s stubborn, and if he finds out that he has children with another woman, whether he can accept that or not is a different issue.”
Right now, all they could do was wait and see, hoping that Ah Zhe could come to terms with it and accept the existence of Jian Qing and Jian Luo.
On hearing this, Aqiu remained silent.
