Chapter 257: 257. Want a truth (3)_1
After a while, the old man An spoke again, asking, “How is little Qing?”
“Miss Qing and Master Jing returned to Beijing last night. They are now at Shijin Haoting, and I’ve heard that Miss Qing’s fever has somewhat subsided,” said Uncle Qiu.
The news of a possible earthquake in J City led to rumors that Master Jing might have perished in the ruins of a hotel. Many in Beijing have been waiting for this drama to unfold but were disappointed to learn that Master Jing has returned home safely.
The old lady gave a light snort, saying grumpily, “Ever since little Qing and that boy Quan Jingwu started dating, she’s had to endure so many hardships. If he ever dares to mistreat little Qing, I’ll be the first to not let him off.”
Uncle Qiu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Only those involved truly know the ups and downs of a relationship. How can outsiders understand?
“What about Luo? Didn’t he also return with Qing?” Old man An asked.
Uncle Qiu shook his head, “Young Master Luo did not return with Miss Qing. He is probably still in M Country.”
“Still no news?” Upon hearing mention of M Country, old man An’s brow furrowed.
Nodding, Uncle Qiu said with a heavy face, “Our people have only discovered that they went to M Country. Everything else has been erased. All information about their backgrounds and their tracks seems to have been wiped clean.”
Regardless of their investigations, the information on the Jian siblings turned up blank.
This suggested that the Jian siblings had powerful backers. Otherwise, the siblings wouldn’t have disappeared under the watchful eyes of the An family seventeen years ago.
He thought about it and speculated that the people who took away the Jian siblings might be Yun Xi’s family.
As the discussion ended, old man An looked out the window, lost in thought.
There was a knock on the door. Uncle Qiu went to answer it.
“Second Master!” Uncle Qiu exclaimed upon noticing the visitor.
An Chong merely grunted and looked past him into the study. “I’m here for Grandfather.”
Uncle Qiu paused, wondering if he should announce the visitor to his master, but then old man An’s voice echoed from within the room.
“Aqiu, let him in.”
Uncle Qiu stepped aside to let him in. “Second Master, please.”
An Chong stepped in. Upon seeing the old man, he respectfully said, “Grandfather!”
“What can I do for you?” Old man An took a sip of tea and asked.
An Chong stared intently at the old man, not missing any changes in his expression, and said, “Grandfather, I have a question to ask you. Please, tell me the truth.”
Not giving the old man a chance to speak, he continued, “Are Jian Qing and Jian Luo my brother’s children? Are they?”
Uncle Qiu who just closed the door and returned was shocked to hear his words.
“An Chong, what is this attitude?” Old man An was livid, a sharp contrast to his warm demeanor during the video call with An Zhe.
“Grandfather, I want the truth. Are they, or aren’t they?” An Chong clenched his fists and asked persistently.Ever since he first saw Jian Luo’s face, he could not shake the idea. Were the Jian siblings really his brother’s children? Why did they have to be his brother’s?
Old man An looked at him, his expression annoyed. “Aqiu, ask him to leave.”
“Second Master!” Uncle Qiu stepped before him.
An Chong was determined to get an answer, and he wouldn’t be easily brushed aside.
“Grandfather, if you refuse to answer, then I will ask my brother myself.” He threatened.
The old man’s demeanor hardened. “Outrageous! Are you threatening me?”
“Grandfather, all I want is the truth. I was a victim too back then. It shouldn’t be overstepping to ask for the truth.” An Chong’s eyes were filled with resentment.
“If they’re not my brother’s children, then why did you hide Yun Xi and her two children? And, why are you now protecting the Jian siblings in every possible way?”
Old man An slammed his palm on the table and rose from his chair, his voice cold and challenging, “What kind of victim are you, Achong? It’s shameless of you to claim that. Yun Xi never had any romantic feelings for you. You forced your feelings onto her. How can you blame others? Moreover, your brother is not as you think.”
Perhaps old man An’s words hit a nerve as An Chong’s face darkened.
“So, are the Jian siblings truly my brother’s bloodline?” He stubbornly sought a clear answer.
“You should leave, I’m tired.” Old man An returned to his seat and closed his eyes.
Uncle Qiu stepped forward and said in a low voice, “Second Master, the old master’s health can’t stand anger. You should leave.”
“Grandfather, sometimes I really wish you favored me, not my brother!”
An Chong gave old man An a long look, then left with bitterness in his heart.
Uncle Qiu watched him leave, then closed the door and returned.
“Master, since you plan to reveal everything, why didn’t you tell the second master openly?”
Old man An slowly opened his eyes, sighed, and calmly analyzed, “Achong is not like Azhe. He is overly jealous. If he learns of this first, it could instigate more chaos. The Jian siblings might even be harmed. We have to wait until Azhe returns to discuss this.”
By then, even if Azhe can’t accept the fact that he has two children, he will still somewhat protect the Jian siblings. Achong, with his bitter feelings, wouldn’t dare to randomly make a move on the siblings.
Uncle Qiu nodded. This was indeed a tricky situation!

Late into the night. 𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑝𝑢𝘣.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Reflected on the floor-to-ceiling window, the street lights mingled with the moonlight.
In the bedroom on the second floor, Jian Qing stood cluelessly in front of her closet.
To wash my hair or not? That is the question!
She had sweated profusely due to the fever last night. Her cleanliness habit wouldn’t let her ignore washing her hair. However, her hands were slightly inconvenient at the moment.
Making up her mind, she thought, it shouldn’t matter if they get wet. Worst comes to worst, she’ll ask Bai Jue to bring her some medicine.
With this thought, she reached for her clothes.
“Darling, what are you doing?”
Man’s voice rang out. When she looked up, he was already standing beside her.
“Getting clothes to bathe,” she replied.
Hearing this, Quan Jingwu pulled her into his arms, “You can’t let your hands soak in water for too long.”
“But I still need to shower.” Jian Qing looked up at him, pouted, and said, “How am I supposed to shower if I don’t touch water?”
“I’ll help you wash.” His gaze darkened, and his seductive husky voice echoed in her ear.
