Chapter 309: 309. Self-review (3)_1

“Indeed, youth is truly wonderful,” Bai Jue feigned admiration.

The way he said it, one would think he was seventy or eighty years old.

Lastly, he once again added, “Youthful exuberance is all well and good, but excessive indulgence in pleasures is definitely not acceptable.”

Jian Qing looked at him sideways, her voice frosty, “Bai Jue, you should look at yourself before commenting on others.”

What a fickle-hearted fellow, daring to mention excessive indulgence in pleasures?

Like, where is his shame?

With a dismissive smile on his face, Bai Jue shrugged, “Yes, I may be a social butterfly, but I am not at all tarnished by it, so don’t damage my reputation.”

Even though his reputation isn’t much to begin with, saving whatever little is left does help.

“You probably don’t have anything as high-class as a reputation,” Jian Qing sneered.

Bai Jue resentfully retorted, “That’s a betrayal.”

“By the way, where’s my grandpa?” Jian Qing looked around and noticed even Qin Bo was not around.

“The old man and Qin Bo went out, said they were meeting old friends for tea,” Bai Jue responded.

Jian Qing pursed her lips, her grandfather’s mood seemed to have relaxed significantly after Luoluo got better.

Thinking of something, Bai Jue donned a smirk on his face.

“Jian Qing, grandpa told me to deliver this message, he has asked the chef to prepare a vitality soup for you, make sure to have it.”

Jian Qing, “….”

How can grandpa be so harsh?

A small smile crept onto Quan Jingwu’s face, his respect for Jian’s granddad soared.

“After a tiring night, you should definitely replenish your energy,” Bai Jue chimed in, rubbing his chin, his eyes staring playfully at Quan Jingwu.

Jian Qing threw a throw pillow at him.

“You need to nourish your brain, not to fill it with rubbish all the time.”

Bai Jue dodged swiftly, a smug smile emerged on his face, which was then promptly replaced by a throw pillow hitting his handsome face.

As he looked up, he found himself facing a pair of deep purple eyes.

Alright, he couldn’t afford to offend this boss.

Quan Jingwu nonchalantly withdrew his hand; no one was allowed to bully his wife except him.

Jian Qing smiled contentedly, wrapped her arm around Quan Jingwu’s arm, and gloated, “Well done, Xiaojing.”

The corner of Bai Jue’s mouth twitched, “….”

He made a mental note to steer clear of this incorrigible and scheming couple in the future.

“Where are Luoluo and Black Jack?” Jian Qing asked.

“Jian Luo just had his bandages changed, Black Jack took him out for some sun,” Bai Jue responded.

Look at them, they all have their partners, leaving him the only single one.

Jian Qing raised an eyebrow, “Xiaojing, let’s go for breakfast.”

Quan Jingwu hummed in agreement and they left Bai Jue alone, heading for the dining hall.

Watching their retreating figures, Bai Jue gloomily collapsed onto the couch.

He had had enough! Everywhere couples were flaunting their love, it was just painful for singles like him.

Scene transition

The massive courtyard was filled with a large patch of lush grass.

Jian Luo sat on the wheelchair while Black Jack stood behind him, pushing it along.

“Black Jack, once I get better, let’s go to the racecourse again with Bai Jue.” Jian Luo squinted in the warmth of the sun, feeling content.

Being stuck in a wheelchair wasn’t comfortable at all. He missed the times when he could run around freely.

Black Jack looked downwards at him, from his towering height. He responded quietly, “Okay.”

Ever since they had named their feelings last night and agreed not to make any changes in their relationship, things had taken an unprecedented turn. Now things felt different between him and Black Jack, although Jian Luo couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

“Luo Xiaobai!” A deep voice erupted from above him.

Jian Luo instinctively looked up, locking eyes with rich blue eyes, laced with a mischievous hint of laughter, that made his heart skip a beat.

“What?”

“Here.” Black Jack pulled out a piece of chocolate from his pocket and offered it to him.

Intricate packaging, Jian Luo immediately recognized it as his favorite brand of chocolate.

Having only consumed pills, soup, and porridge for several days, the sight of the dainty treat finally made his heart flutter again. He was honestly sick of his monotonous diet.

With bright eyes, he quickly accepted the chocolate.

Looking at the piece of chocolate in his hand, Jian Luo remembered a dream he had when he was unconscious.

In his distant childhood, he had promised to be “childhood sweethearts” forever, and that he would buy him chocolates for the rest of his life.

Somehow, these words had now become reality.

Thinking about it, he realized that all the chocolates he had eaten over the years were bought by him. There was once when a girl gifted him a box of chocolates that he incidentally saw and threw away.

He had dismissed it since the chocolates filled with liquor were not suitable for him and he didn’t really like that brand in the first place. Little did he know then that Black Jack was getting jealous.

“Don’t you want to eat it?” Noting his faraway look, Black Jack asked in his deep voice.

Snapping out of his reverie, Jian Luo shook his head. He unwrapped the chocolate and popped it into his mouth.

The rich flavor of the chocolate, ending with a hint of bitterness, sent waves of nostalgia through him.

Ever since he was young, he had favored this brand of chocolate and his preference never changed.

The man behind him remembered all his likings and always remembered to buy him chocolates.

Upon deeper reflection, he felt quite blunt for taking so long to figure out the unique feelings Black Jack had for him.

“Black Jack, any more?” After finishing a piece, Jian Luo turned back to look at him and asked.

His hopeful and expectant look had Black Jack laughing.

“Last piece, that’s all,” he said, taking out another piece from his pocket and handing it over to him.

Jian Luo’s mouth turned upwards, he reached out and took it.

He unwrapped it, broke it in half, and passed a piece to Black Jack.

“Huh?” Black Jack looked quizzically at the half-piece of chocolate.

Jian Luo’s eyes twinkled with cheerfulness, “You are lucky! I’m in a good mood today, here is half for you, appreciate it.”

At this, Black Jack couldn’t help but laugh, tapping his forehead lightly.

“Stay away from Bai Jue in the future.”

After saying this, he accepted the piece of chocolate and popped it into his mouth.

Though he didn’t have a sweet tooth, he decided to enjoy it because it was a gift from him.

Jian Luo, seeing that he ate it, also ate the remaining half.

“Isn’t it delicious?”

Black Jack smirked, “Hmm.”

He remembered when they were young, every time he would force Black Jack to eat chocolates, he would always ask if it was delicious, and Black Jack would always nod.

“Hey, isn’t this a chocolate treat? Don’t I get my share?” A nagging voice interrupted their sweet moment.
