Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Appearance is Not Enough_1

Chapter 47 -47 Appearance is Not Enough_1

Jian Qing chuckled lightly, looking nothing like the stranger she was before, “Khan, seems like you’ve been living quite the life recently!”

“Jian, why do I feel like there’s a hidden meaning behind your words?” Khan raised an eyebrow, crossed his arms, “Are you intentionally making fun of me?”

Jian Qing shrugged, a picture of innocence, “Am I?”

Knowing full well he was no match for Jian Qing in a verbal duel, Khan complained, “You can leave out the ‘am’, thank you.”

Jian Qing leaned back, a hint of a smile on her face, “Had another fight with Xiya, huh?”

How else would these two turn up in Beijing at the same time unless they were at loggerheads? No wonder Xiya so decisively turned down the collaboration with JK International this time. So the problem was there.

Not accepting the collaboration was understandable, considering she had someone to avoid.

“You guessed right.” Khan admitted, his hand on his forehead.

Jian Qing asked, “What’s the problem this time?”

Khan sighed dejectedly, “A while ago, I attended a friend’s party and got a bit close with a model. We were accidentally photographed, and now Xiya’s been avoiding me ever since. She disappears every time I try to find her.”

Jian Qing looked at him, a teasing smile on her lips, “A pretense for the public or a genuine feeling?”

Khan choked on his words, instantly feeling he had made some questionable choices in friends, “Jian, is my character really that bad?”

Even though he used to be a playboy, ever since he met that vexing creature, he’d reformed!

Jian Qing squinted, icily responded, “Who knows? You dared to flirt even before you won her over. Xiya rightly gave you the cold shoulder.”

Khan, “…”

Was it his fault for not securing the girl? 𝑛𝘰𝘷𝑝𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝘮

Was it his fault for being too handsome?

“Jian, do me a favor. I know Xiya would definitely contact you if she comes to Beijing. You can help me arrange a meeting with her.” Khan ruffled his hair, speaking helplessly, “Even if she wants to sentence me to death, she should at least give me a chance to explain.”

Jian Qing looked at him, amused, “Khan, aren’t you a self-proclaimed master at courting? You’re letting a single Xiya do this to you?”

Khan shook his head with a bitter smile. Before he met Xiya, he would have never believed a woman could affect his emotions this much. But now he had met her… he had no choice but to accept it.

“Jian, tell me, I’ve been pursuing her for three years, why is she still so indifferent? Is it because I’m not good-looking enough?” After pursuing her for three years, the furthest he could get was holding hands. He felt so embarrassed just bringing it up.

Jian Qing glanced at him dismissively, “Your beauty is indeed mediocre. Perhaps she fancies me.”

Khan twitched at the corner of his mouth, “Jian, this is about my lifelong happiness. Can you please take it seriously?”

Jian Qing nodded, still maintaining that serene demeanor, “Xiya has her reasons for refusing to meet you. Give her some time. Otherwise, pressuring her might kick you to the curb and make her find someone else.”

Khan’s previous playboy image had deeply touched people’s hearts, and Xiya was a purist when it came to feelings. She wouldn’t tolerate the slightest fault. These two people were so different; they couldn’t easily come together.

Khan was despondent; he suddenly felt that whining to Jian Qing was a mistake. Far from getting any consolation, he was instead brutally attacked, “Jian, are there really no other ways?”

“Khan, are you sure you have no feelings for that model?” Jian Qing changed her tack, asking teasingly.

Khan laughed in spite of his anger, raising three fingers to swear, “I swear, I don’t have any feelings for that model. All of my heart is on Xiya, that little vixen. I’ve been keeping myself pure for her for a long time.”

His last words were uttered in a low growl. If it weren’t a public place, he might have lost control right then and there.

“All right, I was just joking.” Jian Qing’s lips curled in a smile. She did trust Khan’s character.

However, if he wanted to pacify Xiya, it probably wouldn’t be that easy.

Khan gave an ungracious eye roll and waved his hand, “Let’s not talk about her anymore, or you’ll piss me off. Tell me how you ended up here?”

Jian Qing’s beautiful eyebrows rose, “I’m working and making money. What else? Live on air?”

“…” Khan felt this was a day they wouldn’t get anywhere in their conversation.

She needs to make money to live?

Such a deviously clever old fox like her working for someone else? That’s a joke.

“What about Luo? Didn’t he come to Beijing?” Without probing Jian Qing’s purpose for coming to Beijing, Khan tactfully changed the topic.

“He’s in M Country.”

“What are you guys talking about?” Quan Yifei approached them. Seeing Jian Qing and Khan having an amiable conversation immediately put him on high alert. He promptly sat down next to Jian Qing.

Jian Qing demurringly smiled, “Nothing much. Just discussing the upcoming shoot.”

Khan looked at Jian Qing, knowing she didn’t want others to know about their relationship, and went along with her response, “Yeah, Ms. Jian is quite a conversationalist. It’s very interesting to talk to her.”

Quan Yifei was skeptical, and his gaze towards Khan was still somewhat guarded, “It’s about time, we can start now.”

Jian Qing stood up, picked up the camera she had her eyes on previously. Khan and Quan Yifei also got up, and the three of them walked towards the shooting location together.

Over there, An Yu and the others, including Yang Xiang, looked gloomier upon seeing Jian Qing and Khan strike up a conversation, especially Yang Xiang, whose boiling anger was about to spew out smoke.

In their hearts, An Yu and the likes were more jealous of Jian Qing. Khan wasn’t nearly this amiable with them; they normally had to make all the effort to please him, wearing pleasant faces. After all, if they could be the spokesperson for his jewelry, their popularity would definitely skyrocket.

“Khan, there’s something I want to discuss with you.” Chu Ruohan put on a smile and approached Khan as she saw him coming, immediately switching to fluent French.
