Chapter 107: Chapter 107 Vincent attempt to act cute
"What?" Lucas exclaimed as he jumped from the roof and ran toward his carrot farm. "Oh my god, where are my juicy mangoes?"
He heard the sound again and, with silent steps, walked toward the direction it came from, his eyes sharp and alert.
His eyes widened when he saw the same parrot that had stolen his carrots.
Now, it looked fatter than before, its beak covered in mango juice.
The parrot hurriedly ate the last bit of mango before fleeing into the branches.
"Wooooooooooof!" Lucas barked, not letting the parrot escape this time.
He jumped and caught the green feathers of the parrot.
"Squawk! Squawk!" the parrot cried out as Lucas held it in his mouth.
"Wooof! I will roast you alive today." he growled, running back to his cottage.
Thinking about gifting this parrot to Kyra to eat, he hoped she would like his gift and maybe even give him some kisses. He blushed at the thought.
Lucas ran inside his cottage, his muddy paws leaving tracks on the floor.
His ears perked up with excitement as he looked at Kyra, who was still busy with her sketching.
"Squawk! Squawk!" The parrot struggled again, sensing that the wolf was about to eat him. Vincent, lying on the sofa, looked lost in thought.
"Wooof wooof wooof!" Lucas barked happily.
"Kyra, I got a gift for you!" His fluffy tail wagged furiously with excitement.
Kyra raised her eyes and froze when she saw the parrot’s black, moist eyes looking at her with a sad expression. Her heart melted.
"Lucas, why are you holding this innocent parrot?" Kyra said, standing up and gently taking the parrot into her arms.
The parrot started cooing sadly as it rubbed its little head against her palm. "Squawk! Squawk!"
Lucas’ eyes widened in disbelief.
He blew a green feather from his mouth, watching Kyra and the parrot with a betrayed look.
"Where did you find this fat bird? It looks yummy." Vincent said, sitting up as he eyed the fat parrot.
Lucas shifted from wolf to human form.
"Yeah, he actually stole my carrots before, and now he ate all my mangoes from the farm. I caught him for Kyra to roast." Lucas said, watching Kyra patting the shivering parrot, who had heard Vincent’s words.
The parrot decided to hug Kyra’s thighs to save himself.
This female looked kind and loving; to escape from those devils, he would try to win the favor of the red-haired female.
"Squawk! Squawk!" The parrot shivered, and Kyra felt a wave of pity for the bird.
She looked at her two husbands, who were eyeing the parrot like they wanted to roast him.
"Don’t roast him; he’s innocent." Kyra said, rubbing the parrot’s head softly.
The parrot leaned into her touch, rubbing his head against her hands, and giving a side-eye to both of the men.
"If you don’t want to roast him, what are you going to do with him? He ate my hard-earned carrots and mangoes." Lucas said, pouting.
"It’s better if we roast him." Vincent replied.
Kyra sighed, cradling the parrot protectively.
"We’ll find another way. Maybe we can keep him as a pet. He can help around the farm, or at least stop stealing our food."
The parrot, sensing a chance at survival, cooed and nestled even more closer to Kyra, doing his best to look as endearing as possible.
"What is a pet? And I don’t want his help on the farm anyway. This is my last batch here because I’m going to build a new, bigger farm in Venomcrest Tribe," Lucas said. "So he wasn’t that helpful. We can roast him and have a warm dinner tonight." He wet his lips with his tongue.
"He’s right!" Vincent agreed with Lucas.
Kyra hid the parrot in her arms, glaring at them.
"If you two mention roasting him again, you’ll be sleeping outside tonight." She flipped her hair at them and walked away with the pitiful parrot in her arms, who was now showing smug eyes at Vincent and Lucas.
The two men exchanged looks of frustration but said nothing, knowing better than to argue with Kyra when she had made up her mind.
"Forget that parrot. We’ll eat him once Kyra falls asleep and tell her he flew away." Vincent hissed as he walked toward the room where Kyra had gone.
"Great idea! I’m in," Lucas agreed, following Vincent.
They stopped near the door, watching Kyra with blank expressions.
Even Lucas froze when he saw Kyra softly lay the parrot on their bed, rubbing its head. The parrot had the audacity to act cute with Kyra.
Lucas ran inside, intent on throwing the parrot out of his house.
"Kyra, it’s our bed. You can’t let him lay on our bed," he said, reaching to grab the parrot.
"No," Kyra said firmly. She actually liked the fat, cute parrot and wanted to keep him as a pet. "I want to keep him. He’s adorable."
The parrot nestled closer to Kyra, sensing her protection, and gave another smug look to Vincent and Lucas, knowing he had won this round.
"Adorable?" Lucas’ eyes widened.
"What about me? Am I not adorable? What about Vincent? Is he not adorable? Look at his innocent face! Doesn’t your conscience hurt when you call another beast adorable in front of us?"
Vincent, now labeled as ’adorable’ looked expressionlessly at Kyra, trying hard to make a cute face. However, his attempt looked more weird than cute.
Kyra chuckled, shaking her head. "You two are plenty adorable in your own ways. But this little guy needs our help. Just look at him." She petted the parrot gently, who cooed and snuggled closer to her.
Lucas sighed dramatically. "Fine, but if he causes any trouble, he’s out." Internally, he thought about how to get rid of the parrot tonight.
Lucas threw a wink at Vincent.
Vincent, still trying to master his ’cute’ face, nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, what he said," he said, playing along with the plan.
Kyra smiled at them. "Thank you."
The parrot, sensing the tension ease, settled comfortably, giving one last smug look to Lucas and Vincent.
