Chapter 187: Chapter 187 Nightmare within minutes

As they finished speaking, the crowd’s excitement seemed to amplify even more.

Five powerful and gorgeous males began to climb onto the stage, each one looking more impressive than the last.

The first male had sharp green eyes and dark, tousled hair, giving him a roguish look.

The second had sandy blond hair and a warm, gentle smile.

The third was tall with broad shoulders and piercing blue eyes, his features chiseled and strong.

The fourth had deep brown eyes and a quiet, intense demeanor, while the fifth had striking silver hair and a calm, regal bearing.

Sandra, felt a surge of jealousy. Each of these males was more impressive than any she had ever seen, and they were all focused on Kyra.

The way they looked at Kyra, with admiration and interest, made Sandra’s blood boil.

"Why her?" Sandra muttered under her breath, her eyes narrowing. "She’s not even that special."

The elders continued to smile as they introduced the males. "These fine powerful warriors have come to honor our winner," one of the elders announced.

Each of the males stepped forward, one by one, offering Kyra their congratulations. They each took her hand gently, brushing their lips against her knuckles in a show of respect and admiration. Kyra, blushing slightly, accepted their gestures with grace.

The crowd’s cheers grew louder.

Sandra’s jealousy turned into a simmering rage.

Damon’s eyes burned with jealousy as he watched Kyra surrounded by the five males. Without a second thought, he leapt onto the stage, striding toward her with purpose. His jaw clenched, and his sharp silver eyes glared coldly at the males.

Grabbing Kyra by the waist, he pulled her close. "Since you’re all done, I’ll be taking my female," he declared, his voice dripping with possessiveness.

The first male, with his sharp green eyes flashing, stepped forward. "We’re not finished. Beautiful female Kyra has to choose one of us as a mate," he said. "Or five of us."

Damon saw red. He smirked, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "My female only needs me. So, sorry but not sorry, she is only mine."

"Damon..." Kyra whispered, her eyes wide with surprise.

Ignoring her shock, Damon pulled her even closer. His grip tightened around her waist as he leaned in, his lips crashing onto hers in a fierce, possessive kiss.

The crowd gasped, and the five males stepped back.

Kyra’s heart raced, caught between the shock of Damon’s bold claim and the undeniable chemistry between them.

The kiss lingered, marking a clear declaration: Kyra belonged to Damon, and he wouldn’t let anyone come between them.

Damon’s tongue slid into Kyra’s mouth as he held her waist tightly, feeling the tension in her body as she closed her eyes. He broke the kiss, smirking at the sight of her flushed cheeks.

But their moment was shattered by sudden screams from behind.

The crowd turned to see a large number of blood-covered males with rotten skin attacking everyone from the back.

Panic spread quickly as people tried to escape the chaos.

Beastmen started fighting the attackers, but anyone who came in contact with them soon began to transform into the same horrifying creatures. The infection spread rapidly, turning the once festive atmosphere into a nightmare.

Damon’s protective instincts kicked in immediately. He pulled Kyra closer, shielding her with his body. "Stay with me," he commanded, his voice low and urgent. 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢

Kyra, still reeling from the kiss and the sudden chaos, nodded, her eyes wide.

"What’s happening?" she whispered, clutching onto him tightly.

"I don’t know," Damon replied, his eyes scanning the area for a safe escape. "We need to get out of here, now."

However, as they tried to escape, they were soon surrounded by the same ugly monsters Kyra had encountered when she was thrown from the portal to here.

She covered her mouth in horror as she saw their rotten skin, mirroring the sight of those they touched becoming like them.

Damon realized the danger immediately. He couldn’t risk fighting them as he saw that anyone who touched them became like them.

"Hold on tight," he spoke, his voice filled with urgency. In an instant, he shifted into his powerful dragon form, Blue scales shimmering as his wings unfurled.

With a swift movement, he scooped Kyra onto his back. She clung to him tightly as he launched into the sky, the ground quickly shrinking beneath them.

The cold wind rushed past them.

Looking down, she saw the horrifying scene: the monsters attacking, people turning into grotesque versions of themselves.

Her heart ached for those left behind, but she knew Damon had made the right choice.

"We need to find a safe place," Kyra shouted over the roar of the wind.

Damon’s powerful wings beat steadily as he nodded. "I’ll take you somewhere they can’t reach," he replied.

Damon soared into the sky with Kyra clinging tightly to his back.

But then, something terrifying caught his eye.

The sky, once clear, was now filling with horrifying sky beasts. Their skin, like the monsters below, was rotten and decayed. Damon’s heart sank as he realized the dangerous situation.

These were no ordinary beasts.

"What... what is this?" Damon muttered, his voice filled with disbelief and horror.

Kyra looked up, her eyes wide with fear. "It’s spreading, Damon. They’re everywhere."

Realizing they couldn’t stay airborne with the sky infested, Damon searched for a place to land.

He spotted a quiet, snowy clearing below and began his descent.

His powerful wings beat against the cold air as he brought them down gently.

As they landed, Damon shifted back to his human form, keeping Kyra close.

They both stared up at the sky, now a terrifying sea of flying monstrosities.

The situation was worse than they had imagined.

"We need to find shelter," Damon said, his voice steady but urgent. "We can’t stay out in the open like this."

Back at the town center, chaos reigned. Most of the population was already infected, their skin rotting and their eyes vacant.

The infection spreading rapidly.

Sandra and the other females screamed loudly, their cries attracting the attention of the infected beasts. Chaos erupted as the monsters, with their rotten skin and grotesque appearances, turned towards the source of the noise.

Benjamin, observing the panic with a smirk, approached Sandra. Feigning concern, he said, "Let’s go. We need to leave this place quickly." He shifted into his winged lion form, his fur gleaming even in the dim light. Sandra, her face pale with fear, quickly climbed onto his back, clutching his mane tightly.

"Sandra!!" her males shouted, rushing towards her. Most of them were dragon shifters, and they began to transform one by one. Their scales shimmered as they took to the sky, their powerful wings creating gusts of wind that blew debris and snow in all directions.

Other females followed suit, their mates carrying them to safety in the sky. The town center, once bustling with activity, was now a battleground.

The infected beasts roamed freely, attacking anyone who was left behind.

Priest Felix, town leader Marc and Healer Angelo stood amidst the chaos, their faces set with grim determination.

They worked tirelessly, trying to save as many people as possible.

Felix, his white robes now stained with dirt and blood, shouted orders to the remaining males.

"Don’t fight! There is no use! All you have to do is run!" Healer Angelo’s voice carried over the din of battle. The males, who had been valiantly fighting the infected creatures, heard his call and began to retreat. They realized the futility of their efforts against the overwhelming horde and focused on escape.

Felix and Angelo guided the survivors towards escape routes.

The situation grew more dire. Felix and Angelo did their best to guide the remaining survivors, but the infected beasts were relentless. They attacked anyone in their path, spreading the infection with each bite and scratch. Those who were infected became mindless creatures, their only instinct to spread the infection further.

"DON’T FIGHT! THERE IS NO USE! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RUN!" Healer Angelo shouted again, his voice growing hoarse. The remaining males, seeing the hopelessness of their situation, began to retreat. They ran through the streets, their hearts pounding with fear and adrenaline.

Soon, the healer, the town leader, and the priest ran to a safe area.

Kyra and Damon were not in a great situation either.

Flying infected beasts were chasing them, and Damon was dodging the beasts as he flew through the sky.

Kyra clung to Damon’s back, her eyes scanning the scene below.

The sight was heart-wrenching: streets filled with the dead and dying, elders crying out for help, and the panicked movement of those trying to escape.

A young boy, not more than two years old, ran in terror. His tiny legs struggled to keep up as he darted through the debris, glancing over his shoulder in fear. His eyes were wide with panic, and his clothes were torn. He nearly stumbled and fell several times, his cries of fear piercing through the surrounding chaos.
