Chapter 188: Chapter 188 Saving little boy

"Damon, let’s save him," Kyra shouted, her voice urgent and filled with compassion.

"No, we can’t," Damon replied, trying to stay focused on their safety.

"Damon, he’s too young!" Kyra’s plea was desperate.

Damon glanced down and saw the young boy stumbling through the chaos.

The sight triggered memories of his own childhood, memories of struggling alone after being abandoned.

Damon’s heart ached. He couldn’t let this boy face the same fate he had.

"Hold on tight," he muttered, shifting his course and descending toward the boy.

As they landed, Damon’s large dragon form created a protective barrier around them.

The boy, seeing the unknown massive dragon, froze in fear. Kyra quickly dismounted, her heart breaking at the sight of the terrified child.

"Hey, it’s okay," Kyra said softly, approaching the boy with a gentle smile. "We’re here to help you." She extended her hand, and the boy, trembling, slowly reached out to her.

However, suddenly many infected beasts ran toward them. Kyra’s eyes widened in shock, and Damon shouted, "little thing, quickly climb on my back!" Kyra nodded quickly. Damon held the child gently with his mouth and placed him on his back.

The sky beasts hovered around them, and soon they were surrounded by infected Beast, closing in menacingly.

"Damon, we’re trapped!" Kyra exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear.

Damon’s eyes darted around, searching for an escape route. The infected beasts growled and snarled, inching closer with every passing second. He knew they had to act fast. 𝔫𝖔𝔳𝖕𝖚𝔟.𝔠𝔬𝖒

Using his powerful wings, Damon swept the air around him, creating a gust of wind that knocked some of the infected back. "Hold on tight!" he roared.

Suddenly, Kyra’s eyes turned dark blue, and her aura shifted dramatically. Her lips tightened into a determined line as she focused on the encroaching infected beasts.

Her hands began to gather a large ball of light, a mix of frost and lightning crackling with intense energy. Damon, startled by the change, watched in awe as the ball grew larger and more powerful.

"Little thing, what are you—" he started to say, but she cut him off with a determined glance.

Without hesitation, she hurled the glowing orb at the infected beasts. The ball of light exploded on impact, sending a shockwave of frost and lightning through the air. The infected beast screamed and writhed in pain, their rotting skin sizzling and cracking under the intense power. One by one, they fell to the ground, fully dead this time, their bodies no longer a threat.

Damon stared at Kyra, astonished. "What... how did you do that?" he asked, his voice filled with a mix of amazement and confusion.

Kyra took a deep breath, her eyes returning to their normal color. "I don’t know," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "It just... happened."

The young boy in Damon back looked up at her with wide eyes, clearly in awe of what he had just witnessed.

"We should leave quickly," Damon suddenly said, spotting another group of infected beasts running toward them.

Kyra’s eyes turned to panic, and she quickly climbed onto Damon’s back, holding the shivering boy tightly. Damon took a deep breath, spreading his wings wide before launching into the sky. The infected beasts below reached up with gnarled hands, their moans echoing through the air, but Damon flew higher, leaving the danger behind.

As they soared through the sky, Kyra looked down at the devastated town. Her heart ached for the people left behind, but she knew they couldn’t stay any longer. Damon glanced back at her. "We’re heading toward the borders. It’s not safe here," he said, his voice firm.

Kyra nodded, clutching the boy close. "Thank you, Damon," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the rush of the wind.

Damon flew swiftly, the landscape below changing from the chaotic town to quieter, more remote areas. He kept a close eye on their surroundings, wary of any threats that might appear. The boy in Kyra’s arms clung to her, his small body trembling with fear.

"Hang on," Damon called back to them. "We’re almost there."

Kyra looked ahead, the vast expanse of the borderlands coming into view. It was a desolate place, but it offered a sense of safety away from the infected beasts. Damon began to descend, landing in a secluded area surrounded by dense trees.

As they touched down, Kyra slid off Damon’s back, still holding the boy. She looked around, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger. Damon shifted back into his human form, his face serious.

"We should find shelter," he said, his voice low. "We can’t stay out in the open."

Kyra nodded, her heart still pounding from the harrowing escape. "Agreed. Let’s find a safe place to rest."

They moved cautiously through the fir trees, searching for a secure spot. After a few minutes, they found a small cave nestled in the hillside. It was just big enough for the three of them to take refuge in.

Inside the cave, Kyra gently set the boy down, who had fallen asleep. She suddenly noticed his facial features: a small, chubby, delicate face with long lashes, a button nose, and fluffy red hair.

"I will open my space capsule for us to stay," Kyra said, and Damon nodded.

His eyes flashed with amazement when he saw her activate the space capsule. It suddenly turned invisible, with only a visible brown handle marking the entrance.

Kyra walked towards the boy and held him in her arms. He suddenly whispered, "Daddy..." The word sent a pang through her heart.

Kyra had never known who her father was, let alone received any care from him. She only knew her mother, a once-powerful woman in the apocalypse who died when Kyra was just a year old.

Sadly, Kyra herself was just a product developed in a lab.

Damon, on the other hand, was unaware of her emotions. He was busy looking for rocks to cover the entrance of the cave.
