Chapter 197: Chapter 197 Her healing ability
𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝒐𝒎Seeing Damon in trouble, she gently set Meeko down behind a large rock, whispering, "Stay here, little one. I’ll protect you." Meeko nodded, his eyes wide with fear but trusting her completely.
Kyra stood up, her hands trembling but steady. She felt a strange energy building within her, something she hadn’t felt before. It was like a storm gathering, and she was at its center. She focused on the creatures attacking Damon, her hands starting to glow with a bright blue, crackling light.
"Get away from him!" she shouted, her voice echoing in the cave. She thrust her hands forward, and a wave of thunderous energy burst from her palms. The creatures screamed as the energy hit them, their bodies convulsing and collapsing to the ground.
Damon, momentarily free from the attack, turned to look at Kyra in shock. Her eyes were glowing with an intense light, and the air around her crackled with electricity. But there was no time to marvel at her power.
The chaos had destabilized the cave, and the ceiling began to crumble.
"Kyra, the cave is collapsing! We need to get out!" Damon shouted, his voice urgent. He shifted back to his human form, rushing to Kyra’s side. He grabbed her arm, pulling her towards the entrance. "Come on!"
Kyra nodded, her heart pounding. She scooped up Meeko, who clung to her tightly, and followed Damon out of the cave. Rocks and debris fell around them, the ground shaking with the force of the collapse. They stumbled and dodged, narrowly avoiding being crushed.
Just as they reached the entrance, many massive rock fell, blocking their path.
Kyra looked around frantically, her mind racing.
Then she saw it – a narrow passageway to the side, just big enough for them to squeeze through. "This way!" she shouted, leading Damon and Meeko towards the passage. They crawled and squeezed through, the walls closing in around them.
The passage led them out to the other side of the outcrop, where the forest stretched out before them. They stumbled out, gasping for air. The ground behind them shook as the cave fully collapsed, the entrance now completely sealed.
Damon leaned against a tree, his breathing heavy. "That was too close," he said, his voice strained. He looked at Kyra deeply.
What if she is..? When he thought about that, he felt his body freeze.
Meeko, still in Kyra’s arms, looked up at her with wide eyes. "Sister Little thing, you were amazing! Like a lightning storm!"
Kyra managed a small smile, though her heart was still racing. "Thank you, Meeko. But we need to keep moving. Those creatures might still be out there."
Damon nodded, his expression serious. "You’re right. We need to find a safe place to figure out our next move."
They moved through the forest, staying close together. Damon led the way, his senses on high alert. Kyra followed, her eyes constantly scanning their surroundings for any signs of danger. Meeko clung to her.
As they walked, Kyra couldn’t help but think about the power she had used. It felt familiar yet alien, like a part of her that had been awakened. She wondered what it meant and why it had manifested now. But there was no time to dwell on it. They needed to focus on surviving.
After several hours, they found a small clearing surrounded by thick trees. Damon stopped, his eyes scanning the area. "This should be safe for now," he said.
Kyra nodded, setting Meeko down gently. "We can rest here for a bit. But we need to stay vigilant."
Damon agreed, his eyes never stopping their watchful scan of the forest. "I’ll take the first watch. You and Meeko get some rest."
Kyra was too tired to argue. She lay down on the soft snowy grass, pulling Meeko close to her. The little boy quickly fell asleep, his small body finally giving in to exhaustion. Kyra watched Damon as he stood guard.
Kyra lay on the soft grass, feeling the cool breeze brush against her skin.
The exhaustion of the sudden events began to weigh heavily on her eyelids.
However, as she shifted to find a more comfortable position, her gaze fell on Damon. The dim light of the clearing revealed something alarming—his side was soaked in blood.
"Damon," she whispered, her voice trembling. "You’re hurt."
Damon, ever vigilant, turned towards her, a pained expression crossing his face as he tried to downplay his injury. "It’s nothing, Kyra. Just a scratch."
But Kyra knew better. She quickly rose to her feet.
"Let me see," she insisted, moving closer to inspect the wound.
Damon reluctantly sat down, wincing as Kyra examined the deep gash across his ribs and arms.
Her heart ached as she murmured, more to herself than to him. "We can’t risk an infection."
Without waiting for his response, Kyra gathered some nearby leaves, crushing them in her hands to create a makeshift poultice.
She gently applied it to Damon’s wound, but the bleeding didn’t stop. Desperation clawed at her, and she closed her eyes, her hands hovering over his injury.
Suddenly, a warmth spread through her palms, a familiar energy.
She opened her eyes to see a soft glow emanating from her hands. Trusting her instincts, she pressed her hands to Damon’s wound, focusing all her energy on healing him.
Damon watched in astonishment as the warmth spread through his body, the pain ebbing away. The wound began to close before his eyes, the skin knitting itself back together. Within moments, the injury was gone, leaving only clean, unblemished skin.
Kyra pulled back, her breath coming in shallow gasps. She looked at Damon, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Did I...did I do that again?"
She only used her healing power to heal Vincent by licking. However, she was unable to heal anyone further, no matter how she tried.
For a moment, they sat in stunned silence.
Damon looked at her face, and his silver eyes became darker. He was afraid... no, no, he had to protect her.
