Chapter 226: Chapter 226 Damon challenge
"Luca, stop!" Kyra called out, but her words were drowned by his frantic howling. His anxiety filled the room.
Kyra felt her heart tighten as she watched Lucas. She ran toward him quickly knelt down in front of him, reaching out to touch his fur. "Luca, look at me," she said softly, trying to soothe him. "I didn’t take any of them, I swear. You’re the only one I want."
Lucas’s frantic pacing slowed as he looked at Kyra with wide, anxious eyes. He let out a low whine, his wolf form trembling as he tried to understand her words.
Kyra noticed that Lucas had grown larger, The bald patch around him had disappeared, and his fur was now thicker and fuller than before. She gently stroked his fur, trying to soothe him. "It’s just you, Lucas. You and Vincent. No one else."
Lucas shifted back into his human form and hugged her tightly, relieved. But before they could relax, Damon spoke, his voice cold and full of anger. "No one else? Really?"
Kyra and Lucas turned to look at Damon, surprised. Damon’s face was serious, and a dark aura surrounded him. "No one else, Kyra? What about me? Did you forget our kiss? Our time together? Don’t tell me you didn’t know how I felt."
Kyra’s heart raced. Inside, her beast spoke sadly. ’You messed up, Kyra! He didn’t even call you ’little thing’ like before. Oh my god, my Damon, please accept him.’
"I—I..." Kyra tried to respond, but the words wouldn’t come. Lucas clenched his fists, sensing the tension growing.
Damon took a step closer, his eyes cold. "Kyra, don’t lie to yourself. You like me too. Admit it. Don’t be weak—tell me if you like me or not!"
As Damon got closer, the tension was thick. Lucas quickly stepped between them.
"No one else but him and Vincent? heh" Damon said with a bitter edge. "I, Damon, the Blue Dragon, challenge your male. If I win, I get to be your mate."
His words were final, like a law of the Beastworld. Damon’s eyes locked with Lucas’s, full of determination.
’F*ck it! If being gentle won’t make her fall in love, I’ll do it the hard way,’ Damon thought growling, his dark aura growing stronger.
Lucas didn’t back down. His expression became serious as he accepted the challenge. "I accept," he said firmly.
Kyra panicked. "Please don’t...," she started, but her beast interrupted.
’Let it happen, Kyra! This is the Beastworld. Males fight for their females. If you can’t watch your male fight, how will you survive? Not everything changes just because you want it to. You have to follow the rules of the Beastworld.’
Damon’s smile curled into something sinister, a twisted gleam in his eyes. His voice cut through the air like a blade, chilling her to the core. "Tomorrow night, we celebrate our first of many," he murmured, arrogance lacing every word. As he turned away, his robe trailed behind him like a shadow, a dark promise of what was to come.
Lucas, his anger boiling over, clenched his fists, ready to chase after Damon. But Kyra quickly shook her head, her voice trembling as she stopped him. "Don’t, Luca," she whispered. "I already have a headache."
Seeing the stress and worry on her face, Lucas’s anger softened. He knew she was overwhelmed and needed comfort more than anything else. With a gentle, reassuring smile, he tried to lift her spirits. "Let him rot upstairs," Lucas said playfully, hoping to distract her from her troubled thoughts. "We haven’t cuddled in a while. Let’s cuddle."
Without waiting for a response, Lucas jumped onto the sofa and patted the spot beside him, encouraging Kyra to join him.
Kyra hesitated for a moment, but then she took a deep breath, pushing away the dark thoughts and letting herself relax. She joined Lucas on the sofa, seeking the comfort he offered.
As soon as she sat down, Lucas scooped her up and placed her on his lap, turning her to face him. Wrapping his arms tightly around her, he pulled her close, resting his head against her neck. He nuzzled into her, rubbing his hair against her skin and cheek, his actions filled with tenderness and affection.
Kyra couldn’t help but smile, feeling a sense of warmth and safety as she stroked his silver hair. For a moment, all the tension melted away, and she let herself enjoy the simple comfort of being in Lucas’s arms.
She couldn’t help but notice again how much bigger and stronger he felt compared to before.
His arms wrapped around her with more power, and his chest seemed broader. Curiosity sparked in her mind, and she tilted her head slightly to look at him.
"Luca," she began softly, her voice filled with wonder, "you seem... bigger. Like you’ve grown up more. What happened?"
Lucas chuckled, his warm breath tickling her neck as he hugged her even tighter. "You noticed, huh? I’ve advanced to Rank 5."
Kyra’s eyes widened in surprise. "Rank 5? That’s amazing! But how did that happen so quickly?"
Lucas grinned, clearly proud of his achievement, but his expression quickly shifted as memories from a dark day flooded back into his mind.
"You remember I told you about those two females who tried to frame Vince?" he began, his voice quieter now, filled with a mixture of anger and sadness. "That day, their whole tribe attacked us and it turned into a full-blown battle. Vince and I fought hard, but they were relentless."
Kyra’s eyes widened in concern, her heart tightening as she listened to the details of how Lucas had almost lost Vincent again. He had already told her once, but this time he was sharing the whole situation.
She felt anger rise in her heart again as she thought about those two females.
"They managed to injure both of us pretty badly," Lucas continued, his gaze distant as if he were reliving the moment. "But Vince... he took the worst of it. With his body weakened from hibernation and then the attack by that polar bear, it felt like everything was against us. He was so badly hurt, Ky-Ky, and I felt utterly helpless."
