Chapter 243: Chapter 243 Accept him as her mate
Kyra looked at Damon, her eyes tracing the sharp lines of his face, lingering on his lips, and then meeting his intense silver eyes. His long blue hair cascaded down his shoulders, giving him an almost ethereal presence. She had seen many handsome men since arriving in the beast world, but none of them had the same effect on her as her mate’s and Damon.
Damon face, his voice, his touch—each one seemed to stir something deep inside her, making her heart beat a little faster.
Was this a sign? Should she accept him as her mate? The thought made her heart flutter. Living with him, her feelings for him had grown over time. She couldn’t deny that she liked it when he called her ’little thing.’
It made her feel special, cherished in a way that was different from the others.
But it wasn’t just about her. She already had two mates, Lucas and Vincent. She needed their approval, their acceptance, before making any decisions. It was a delicate balance, and she couldn’t afford to disrupt it.
"Damon, give me some time to think... I will accept you," Kyra said, her voice soft but resolute.
The change in Damon was immediate. A smile bloomed on his face, so pure and simple that it almost took her breath away. The fierce, brooding dragon had melted away in that instant, revealing a side of him that was almost boyish in its joy. Seeing him like this, Kyra felt a warmth spread through her chest. Maybe this was the beginning of something new, something she could embrace with time.
Before she could fully process what was happening, he took a step closer, his gaze locking onto hers with an intensity that made her breath hitch. Then, in one fluid motion, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
The moment their bodies touched, Kyra felt a rush of emotions, a mixture of warmth, safety, and something deeper—something that made her feel like she was exactly where she needed to be. Damon’s arms were strong, yet his hold was gentle, as if he was afraid of breaking her. His scent surrounded her, a mix of earth and something uniquely him, and it made her feel grounded, connected to him in a way she hadn’t realized she needed.
He buried his face in her hair, inhaling deeply as if trying to memorize her scent. Kyra could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against her chest, and it was strangely comforting. She hesitated for a moment, then slowly wrapped her arms around his waist, holding him just as tightly. It felt right, like a missing piece finally clicking into place.
In her mind, Kyra’s beast, Kaia, was practically bouncing with excitement. ’Finally, yes, yes! Damon is ours!’ Kaia shouted, her voice loud and full of glee. ’This is what I’ve been waiting for! Look at him, Kyra, he’s perfect! We’re perfect together!’
Kyra couldn’t help but smile at Kaia’s enthusiasm, feeling a mix of amusement and affection for her beast’s excitement. But even beyond Kaia’s happiness, Kyra herself felt something undeniable. Being in Damon’s arms, feeling the way he held her like she was the most precious thing in the world.

"Where did you find those things?" Kyra asked as she gazed at the walls adorned with jewels, pearls, and jades.
Damon’s silver eyes softened as he looked at her. "I used to travel a lot," he began, his voice deep and thoughtful. "Whenever I had the time, I’d dig around, searching for something special. I love collecting things that catch my eye." He paused, his gaze locking with hers, adding with a touch of seriousness, "I haven’t shown this to anyone, little thing."
Kyra felt a flutter in her chest. The fact that he had kept this place—a hidden treasure trove—entirely to himself until now meant more than words could express. "That’s great! Are all dragons like this?" she asked, genuinely curious. She’d heard about dragons hoarding treasures, but she had never seen it in person or read anything related, much less understood the sentiment behind it.
"Yeah, most of us," Damon replied, his lips quirking into a small smile. "But we don’t show our collections to just anyone."
"And I’m the exception?" Kyra teased, raising an eyebrow playfully.
Damon’s smile widened, and his expression turned almost tender. "Any doubt? I already gave you my clothes collection," he reminded her, a hint of pride in his voice.
Kyra felt her heart skip a beat as she whispered, "Thank you," her voice filled with sincerity. She looked up at Damon and couldn’t help but smile, the warmth in her heart growing as she continued, "I do feel special." she admitted, her heart warming at the thought. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that rather than ignoring Damon and letting misunderstandings fester, it was better to talk things through, to solve the problems between them. Damon had done so much for her—cooking for her, providing her with shelter, clothes, and even saving her life more times than she could count.
She looked at him, feeling a mix of gratitude.
She took a deep breath, her eyes not leaving his. "I’ve been so caught up in everything else that I didn’t see how much you’ve done for me," she admitted, her voice tinged with regret. "You’ve cooked for me, given me shelter, clothes, and saved my life. And I’ve barely acknowledged it."
Damon’s expression softened, his silver eyes filled with understanding. "You don’t need to thank me, little thing. I did it because I care about you," he said gently, his hand reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair from her face.
She wasn’t going to hold back anymore.
Kyra felt her eyes misting over, emotions swirling inside her. She stepped closer, her hand instinctively reaching out to touch his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her palm. "You make me feel safe, Damon," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I don’t want to take that for granted anymore."
