Chapter 244: Chapter 244 Unknown letter
Damon’s arms wrapped around her, pulling her close in a gentle yet protective embrace. Kyra felt herself melt into him, the warmth of his body seeping into hers, comforting and reassuring. She rested her head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and for the first time in a long time, she felt truly at peace.
In her mind, her beast Kaia was practically bouncing with excitement, her voice gleeful and triumphant. ’Finally, yeah, yeah, Damon is ours!’
Kyra’s cheeks flushed, both from the heat of Damon’s embrace and from Kaia’s overzealous reaction. ’Kaia, seriously, shut up,’ she mentally scolded her beast, though she couldn’t completely deny the truth in Kaia’s words. There was a part of her—maybe more than just a part—that was beginning to accept Damon in a way she hadn’t allowed herself to before.
As she stood there, wrapped in Damon’s arms, Kyra realized that this was where she wanted to be. She wasn’t just special to him—he was special to her, too. And maybe, just maybe, it was time to let herself fully embrace that truth.
"Are you not worried someone might steal your treasure?" Kyra asked as she leaned against Damon’s hard chest, her arms wrapping around his waist in a comfortable embrace. The warmth of his body surrounded her, making her feel secure and at ease.
Damon glanced down at her, a soft chuckle escaping his lips as he took in just how small she was compared to him. She felt so tiny, so delicate in his arms. Without thinking, he blurted out, "You’re so tiny."
Kyra’s head shot up, her eyes wide with surprise. "What?" she exclaimed, looking at him as if he’d said the most absurd thing in the world. Her face was a mix of shock and amusement, and it made Damon smile even more.
"You heard me," he teased, his tone playful as he looked into her eyes. "You’re tiny, especially compared to me." His hand moved to gently cup her cheek, his thumb brushing over her soft skin. "But that’s part of what makes you so special to me, little thing."
Kyra blinked, still processing his words. She felt a mix of emotions—embarrassment, warmth, and something deeper that made her heart flutter. "I’m not that tiny," she mumbled, trying to sound indignant but failing as a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
Damon’s eyes softened as he gazed down at her. "You are to me," he said softly, leaning down so their faces were closer. "But it doesn’t matter how big or small you are. What matters is that you’re here, with me. And there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side."
Kyra’s heart melted at his words. She tightened her grip around his waist, resting her head against his chest once more. "You’re a smooth talker, Damon," she murmured, her voice laced with affection.
"And you’re the one who makes me want to say all these things," he replied, his arms wrapping around her in a protective embrace. "As for my treasure, I’m not worried. The only one I care about sharing it with is you."
His eyes darkened slightly as he continued, his voice low and firm. "As for anyone who dares to steal my treasure," he said, a dangerous edge creeping into his tone, "they’ll die brutally. I won’t let anyone take what’s mine."
Kyra shivered slightly at the intensity in his voice, feeling the weight of his words. There was no doubt in her mind that Damon meant every word. He wasn’t just talking about the jades, diamonds, or pearls—she knew he was talking about her too.
She was part of his treasure, something he valued above all else. She looked up at him, seeing the fierce protectiveness in his eyes.
Suddenly, Damon growled low in his throat, the sound reverberating through his chest and into Kyra, who instinctively stood up straighter. The air around them seemed to shift as both sensed the presence of someone else. Their eyes met briefly, understanding passing between them without the need for words. They stepped outside together, alert and ready for anything, but the surroundings were eerily quiet, devoid of any visible intruder.
Just as they were about to dismiss it, something light dropped onto Kyra’s head. She froze, her hand reaching up to find a rolled-up letter. Damon’s instincts flared as he took the letter from her, His eyes scanned the area, searching for any sign of who might have left it. When he unrolled the letter, a dark red, gorgeous rose slipped out and fluttered to the ground. Damon’s expression hardened, his jaw clenching as he recognized the implication behind the flower.
He didn’t know how to read, so he muttered, "I’ll ask the healer to read it," his voice laced with a cold fury as his aura darkened with each passing second. The tension in the air was almost palpable as he tried to suppress the growing anger bubbling inside him.
But Kyra, with a calmness that contrasted sharply with Damon’s rising fury, reached out to take the letter from his hands. "No need, I know how to read," she said softly.
Damon froze, his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at her. He was genuinely amazed—reading and writing were rare skills, especially for females in their world. Kyra was proving to be more mysterious and extraordinary than he had ever realized. Admiration mixed with his anger, but his eyes were still drawn back to the letter and the flower on the ground.
Without hesitation, he crushed the flower underfoot, grinding it into the snow with a cold determination. He didn’t care who the admirer was. Whoever had dared to send this message would regret it.
Damon would ensure that any feelings this unknown male had for Kyra would be crushed just as easily as he crushed this flower.
Kyra froze as she read the letter. 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶
"I am coming back, love..." she read aloud, her voice quivering slightly.
Her face, usually so composed, lost its calm, and a shiver ran down her spine as she continued reading.
