Chapter 245: Chapter 245 Sorrowful wolf
Kyra’s eyes scanned further down the letter, and as she did, a cold shiver traveled down her spine.
My Dearest Kyra,
I’ve been waiting for this moment, the moment when I could finally reveal myself to you.
It’s been excruciatingly difficult to stay away, but soon, my love, I’ll be by your side once again.
You may not remember me yet, but I promise you, you will. I’m your one true soulmate, the one who knows you better than anyone else ever could. Your little dragon may think he can protect you, but I assure you, he doesn’t stand a chance against the bond we share.
Your heart is meant for me, and no matter how many obstacles stand in my way, nothing will keep us apart. The time has come for you to accept your destiny, and I will be there to claim what’s rightfully mine. Your future is already written, and I’m eager to make it a reality.
With all my love and eternal devotion,
Your Future Soulmate,
Or should I say, your one and only...
"What’s written inside?" Damon asked, his voice low and edged with a growl. His intense gaze bore into Kyra, demanding an answer.
Kyra hesitated for a moment, then relayed the contents of the letter to him, her voice steady despite the tension in the air. As she spoke, Damon’s eyes grew colder, and she could see his entire body stiffen with each word she uttered.
Without a word, he snatched the letter from her hand, his expression darkening. In one swift motion, he tore the letter apart, the paper ripping loudly in the silence. He tossed the shredded pieces away, his jaw clenched in anger.
Then, before Kyra could react, Damon pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest. The sudden warmth of his embrace was both comforting and overwhelming. "Don’t worry, little thing," he murmured, his voice softer now but still fierce with determination. "I will protect you."
Kyra felt the strength of his promise in the way he held her, as if shielding her from whatever threat the letter had contained. She rested her head against his chest, hearing the steady beat of his heart, and for a moment, all her fears seemed to melt away in his protective embrace.
On the way back home, Kyra was tense, her mind racing with unanswered questions. She had no idea who had sent that letter, and the uncertainty gnawed at her. But what worried her even more was the strange, unsettling feeling in her chest. It was as if something heavy and foreboding had settled there, a deep sense of unease that whispered to her that something bad was going to happen. The feeling was almost suffocating, and no matter how hard she tried to shake it off, it clung to her, leaving her anxious and on edge.
As they reached home, a sad, loud howl echoed from inside, reverberating through the quiet evening.
"Woooooooooof!"
"Wooooooooooof!"
Kyra’s heart skipped a beat, and she hurried inside as soon as Damon landed. The sound tugged at her, filling her with concern. Damon, following closely behind, rolled his eyes, clenching his fists in irritation.
’Is this his new way to attract the little thing?’ Damon muttered under his breath, the annoyance clear in his tone. His patience was wearing thin.
Kyra hurried inside, her heart heavy with worry. As she stepped into the room, she saw a large silver wolf pacing around, its head raised as it let out another sorrowful howl. The sound was filled with a deep, aching sadness that tugged at her heart.
"Luca," she called out, her voice filled with concern as she rushed toward him.
Lucas stopped his pacing and turned to face her. His usually bright eyes were now clouded with sorrow, and he looked at her with a sadness that made Kyra’s chest tighten. He stood still, his head lowered slightly, as if the weight of his emotions was too much to bear.
Kyra immediately crouched down and wrapped her arms around Luca’s fluffy head. "I’m sorry, Luca... I shouldn’t have left you alone," she whispered, her voice full of regret.
Luca pressed his soft, fluffy head against her neck, rubbing his face gently against her. His fur felt like clouds—so soft and comforting to the touch. As she held him, Kyra could feel the tension in his body begin to ease, and the warmth of his presence brought her a small sense of relief.
Lucas whined softly, rubbing his furry head against Kyra as if seeking comfort. But when he glanced back at Damon, his expression changed. He stuck out his tongue and gave Damon a smug look, clearly pleased with himself.
Vincent’s words echoed in Kyra’s mind, reminding her of his many bits of advice before he left. "If you see a rainbow starting to accept that dragon, don’t panic. Don’t let it show on your face. Just act sad and lonely. Rainbow is soft-hearted female; she’ll definitely feel guilty..." Vincent had said, his voice filled with confidence.
After staying with him, Vincent had definitely become a lot smarter, Lucas thought happily.
To appear even more pitiful and lonely, Lucas lifted his head from Kyra’s neck and gazed up at her with his wet ocean-blue eyes, the look in them so heart-wrenching that it tugged at her heartstrings. He then gently rubbed his head against her chest, his way of seeking more comfort.
"Have you had your lunch?" Kyra asked softly, her concern evident. 𝔫𝖔𝖛𝖕𝖚𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
Lucas shook his head, and in an instant, he shifted into his beastman form. "Don’t worry, Ky Ky, I’ve cooked for you guys," he said quickly, trying to reassure her. "You must be tired after coming back from outside, and it’s already evening... Oh no, I’ll heat it up for you!" he added, suddenly looking panicked as he rushed to take care of her.
"Luca!" Kyra tiptoed and cupped his cheeks, stopping him in his tracks. "It’s fine, I’ll heat it up!" She couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt; he must have been waiting for them the whole time, worrying about them and preparing everything. His efforts touched her deeply, and she felt an overwhelming urge to make sure he knew how much she appreciated him.
