Chapter 258: Chapter 258 Kyra’s choice
Lucas raised an eyebrow, clearly waiting for her to answer, while Damon’s jealousy practically filled the room. Kyra felt the pressure mounting, knowing whatever she said could tip the balance. She took a deep breath and forced a smile, hoping to defuse the tension.
Kyra could feel the weight of their stares, and the tension between them was thick enough to cut with a knife. She sighed deeply, realizing there was no easy way out of this. But she knew she had to be careful—her words could easily stir things up between the two men.
"Okay, fine..." Kyra sighed, giving in to Lucas’s persistence. "I love all the colors, honestly. But you said I have to choose one, so I can’t just pick one over the others." She smiled gently, her fingers brushing through Lucas’s silver hair. "Silver... it represents the purity of our bond. It’s like moonlight—calm, comforting, and constant, just like you. I love how it reflects your gentle side, even when you’re stubborn."
Lucas’s eyes sparkled with satisfaction, but Kyra could sense Damon’s jealousy simmering in the background. She quickly turned her head to meet his gaze, locking eyes with him and continuing her conversation, hoping to balance things out.
"And then there’s blue..." Kyra said, her eyes softening. "It’s the color of the sky, the sea... strong, deep, and infinite, like Damon. Blue always gives me this sense of protection and calm, even when everything around us is chaotic."
She glanced briefly down, then back at Lucas, her words slowing as she turned toward Vincent in her thoughts. "But black..." she said softly, thinking of Vincent. "Black is powerful, mysterious. It holds the strength of night, the secrets hidden in shadows, just like Vincent. It’s the color of resilience and depth—something that never fades, no matter how much light is around it. It’s timeless, just like him."
Lucas raised an eyebrow playfully, seemingly enjoying the depth of her reasoning, while Damon remained still, his gaze softening just a bit. They might have been rivals in many ways, but her words seemed to soothe the unspoken tension between them for now.
Kyra sighed with relief, knowing she had just managed to walk a tightrope without falling off.
"Little thing..." Damon’s voice dripped with a softness Kyra rarely heard from him, like honey coating every word. As he approached, the tension between him and Lucas was palpable, but Damon’s eyes remained focused solely on Kyra. His silver gaze, which often appeared sharp and unyielding, softened, like snow melting under a warm sun.
Lucas grumbled under his breath but didn’t resist as Damon leaned over, slipping his arms around Kyra and effortlessly lifting her from Lucas’s lap. She blinked in surprise, feeling the sudden shift, her body naturally adjusting as Damon sat down beside Lucas, cradling her close.
Damon’s hold was firm yet gentle, a possessive but comforting embrace. His lips curved into a small smile, the kind that made Kyra’s heart skip a beat. For a moment, the rivalry between them seemed to dissolve, the air calming. Damon glanced at Lucas, his glare barely noticeable, before focusing back on Kyra, holding her as though nothing else in the world mattered.
"Much better," Damon murmured quietly, his voice low and full of warmth.
"Can we sleep in my space capsule?" Kyra’s voice was soft, her eyes betraying the worry that weighed heavily on her mind. "I’m sure those shadows will try to harm us again, and I can’t risk it with you guys. And I’m worried about Vins too... where did he go?" Her gaze dropped slightly, sadness creeping in as she thought of him.
Lucas leaned closer, trying to ease her mind. "Don’t worry about Vins, Ky-ky. He’s safe. Snakes never reveal their location, and when they go underground, it’s the safest place for him. You know he’s too clever to get caught by anything." He squeezed her hands gently, but before Kyra could respond, Damon swiftly snatched her hands away from Lucas, his touch firm but protective, a smirk playing on his lips as he glanced at Lucas with subtle satisfaction.
Damon’s voice was a soothing balm to Kyra’s nerves. "Don’t worry, little thing," he murmured, his tone laced with warmth and lingering euphoria from hearing her thoughts. "And yes, let’s sleep in your space capsule. Maybe it’s just what we need to relax for a while, especially since things are going to get tense again soon enough." His intense, sharp silver eyes met hers, making her feel both reassured and cherished. His presence was a comforting anchor amidst the growing uncertainty.
Kyra allowed herself a small smile, feeling slightly at ease with their protective assurances.
Kyra slowly climbed off Damon’s lap, her movements graceful but unhurried. Damon, however, looked far from satisfied. His eyes followed her intently, and the loss of her warmth left him feeling restless. He liked her in his arms, the softness of her body pressed against his own—it was a comfort and a temptation. His mind wandered, dangerous thoughts flashing through his head, and he found himself licking his lips as his imagination took a darker turn.
He could almost feel his hands fisting her hair, his lips tracing a path down her throat, her breathless gasps filling the room while he pound inside her deeply...
Damon’s pulse quickened, the heat in his chest growing unbearable. He blinked, forcing himself to breathe, but the vivid images wouldn’t disappear.
Just then, Lucas’s voice shattered his thoughts. "I’m coming, Ky-ky!" Lucas shouted enthusiastically, disrupting the tension. Kyra had opened the space capsule, and Lucas, with his usual boundless energy, came barreling toward her, intentionally shoving Damon aside as he ran past.
Damon clenched his jaw, barely containing his frustration, his silver-blue eyes darkening with an intense, brooding look. He watched Lucas take Kyra’s attention away, and it took every ounce of restraint for him not to act on the simmering jealousy that stirred within him. His fists tightened at his sides, the primal urge to reclaim her lingering beneath the surface.
The storm between them was far from over.q
