Chapter 270: Chapter 270 Silverpeak moutain (2)
He glanced around, making sure everyone understood and nodded in agreement. "Now, let’s prepare to move. We’ll make our way down slowly and carefully. If we stick to these rules, we’ll be in a good position to set up a safe camp before nightfall."
As the leader finished, Kyra, Damon, and Lucas gathered nearby to discuss their plans.
Kyra turned to Damon and Lucas, her expression focused. "Once we get to the other side, we need to find a secure spot for our camp. I suggest we look for a flat area that’s well-hidden from view."
Damon nodded. "Agreed. We’ll have to be extra careful. The leader’s instructions are crucial. We don’t know what kind of creatures we might encounter." 𝓃ℴ𝓋𝓹𝓊𝓫.𝒸𝓸𝓂
Lucas, looking a bit excited but determined, added, "I’ll keep an eye out for any signs of edible plants or sources of water once we’re on the other side. It might be useful for our camp."
Kyra smiled reassuringly. "Good idea. We’ll need all the help we can get. Remember, we’re in this together. Let’s stick to the plan and stay safe."
With a final nod to each other, they prepared to descend the snowy side of the mountain.
"It’s safer if we all shift into our beast forms," Kyra suggested. "The ground is too silvery other side, and in human form, we might risk sudden situations. In our beast forms, we can descend slowly and silently. Does that sound alright?"
"That does sound much safer," one of the warriors agreed, nodding. Soon, everyone decided to transform into their beast forms.
Lucas shifted into his wolf form, while Kyra transformed into her frostlyn form, her eyes a deep, mesmerizing blue as she surveyed the group.
Everyone stared at Kyra’s beast form in awe. Her red fur gleamed beautifully, and her long, nine tails were both striking and elegant.
All the dragons shot heated glances at them, but Lucas growled back. Now a rank five, he had grown much larger and hoped to advance to rank six soon.
Damon also cast a cold, assessing gaze over the group.
As everyone continued across the mountain in their beast forms, the landscape revealed itself to be quite different. The terrain was strewn with massive rocks, and heavy rain poured down. While the dragons seemed unbothered, Kyra and Lucas worried about their fur getting soaked.
Kyra glanced back regretfully at her clothes, which had ripped and fallen to the ground. Lucas, in his wolf form, dug a hole in the cold earth and hid there, rubbing his body against the ground to mask Kyra’s scent and prevent anyone from tracking them.
Kyra, navigating carefully on her paws, felt conflicted. She enjoyed being in nature despite the danger, but Kaia, her frostlyn form, refused to take over because she was sad. Kyra felt this sadness deeply, knowing she would be heartbroken too if she were rejected by Damon, Lucas, or Vincent.
Kyra surveyed her surroundings. The ground was covered in moss, with various unfamiliar plants and dense grasses growing in every direction. As they moved forward, she noticed a small but slippery landslide slope ahead of them, blocking the path to the lower areas. The unstable terrain would make the descent tricky and potentially dangerous.
The slope had clearly been affected by recent landslides, and the ground was shifting and uneven. The once solid path had given way to a chaotic tangle of dirt and stones, making it nearly impassable.
She carefully adjusted her footing, feeling the weight of the rain-soaked terrain beneath her paws. The heavy rain had made the slope even more slippery, and she knew they would need to be extremely cautious to avoid accidents.
Lucas made the first move, leaping down the slope with a mixture of excitement and determination. The suddenness of his jump startled Kyra, causing her to instinctively leap after him. As she landed beside him, she used her furry body to push him away from the edge, her teeth sinking into his thick fur in an angry response.
The scene caught the attention of the other dragons, who were flying over there to cross slope with their bags strapped to their backs. They hovered for a moment, watching the interaction between Kyra and Lucas with a mix of surprise and amusement. The sight of Kyra, her red fur bristling and her expression fierce, playfully biting Lucas, while the wolf struggled to regain his balance.
The dragons exchanged glances and chuckled softly.
Damon’s stern expression softened as he watched the interaction. One by one, the other dragons landed beside Kyra and Lucas, their wings folded as they touched down safely. After all, if they could fly, why risk it? But who knew this wolf would jump down first?
"Woof... sorry," Lucas howled softly, circling Kyra as he tried to make amends. He rubbed his wet fur against her, the rain having soaked him thoroughly. His blue eyes followed her tail, and before Kyra could react, he playfully grabbed it in his mouth.
Kyra, clearly annoyed, delivered a sharp kick and a stern warning with her eyes, making it clear she wasn’t pleased with his actions. The other dragons observed with amusement.
Damon stepped in, separating Kyra and Lucas with a clear disapproval of their closeness. He locked eyes with the leader, who gave a confirming nod. Without further delay, everyone moved forward.
As they descended, the landscape transformed dramatically. The forest below became dense and ancient.
Towering ferns and cycads stretched towards the sky, their large, leathery leaves forming a thick canopy overhead. Massive, tree-like horsetails with segmented stems and sprawling roots intertwined with the undergrowth, while prehistoric conifers added to the lush, primordial atmosphere. The ground was blanketed in a thick mat of mosses and lichen, and the air was heavy with the earthy aroma of damp, rotting vegetation.
Giant, fan-like leaves rustled with the breeze, and the occasional rotting log or fallen tree created natural obstacles, adding to the untamed and wild nature of the forest. The dense foliage created a shadowy, mysterious environment, where the light barely penetrated through the thick layers of vegetation.
