Chapter 282: Chapter 282 Start Small

Kyra crashed into the bed as Benjamin threw her aside effortlessly. She quickly got back to her feet, her anger boiling over. "What do you mean! What do you want from Damon?" she shouted at him, her voice trembling with both anger and desperation. But Benjamin only smiled gently, as if her struggle amused him.

"Don’t try to escape, sweetcheeks," he said, his tone light yet threatening as he made his way out of the room. He locked the door behind him, leaving Kyra alone in the unfamiliar space. She heard the sound of the bolt sliding into place, trapping her within the suffocating room.

Kyra stood there, her chest heaving as the reality of her situation set in. She ran to the door, banging her fists against it in frustration. "Come back here! You can’t keep me locked in here!" But there was no response, just the cold silence that echoed back at her.

She stumbled back, her legs shaking. Desperation clawed at her mind. What did Benjamin want with Damon? It couldn’t just be jealousy—it was something far more sinister. She couldn’t afford to wait around and let him play out his twisted plan.

With a bitter curse, she turned away from the door and scanned the room again.

Her heart raced at the thought of Damon—her Damon. Was he safe? Was Lucas and Vincent okay? Images of the last time she saw them flashed through her mind, their faces pale, their expressions filled with worry. She couldn’t stand the thought of being away from them while they were in danger. She needed to do something—anything—to get back to them.

Her super powers felt distant, muted, as if something was blocking her connection to them. The place felt suffocating, a cage designed to hold her.

Kyra paced around the room, frustration and fear gnawing at her. She glanced at the window again, then shook her head. The foggy land outside, teeming with shadows and horned monsters, was a deathtrap. She wasn’t naïve enough to think she could fight her way out without her powers.

"Damn it!" she muttered under her breath, slamming her fist into the wall. I can’t let him get away with this.

She wasn’t going to give up. Even if her powers were blocked, even if Benjamin had the upper hand for now, she refused to let him win. She would find a way out—no matter how long it took, no matter how difficult. Damon and Lucas needed her. And she would stop at nothing to get back to them.

With determination, she began searching the room, her eyes carefully scanning for anything that could help her. Her mind raced through possibilities, trying to piece together some kind of plan.

Kyra took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down as she surveyed the room more closely. The space was grand, yet surprisingly minimal in its furnishing. The walls were painted a soft, pale yellow that gave off a warm glow in the dim light. The door she had just tried to break through was a striking red, decorated with intricate gold patterns that seemed almost regal.

The bed in the center of the room was queen-sized, covered in plush, deep red sheets. Despite the luxurious feel of the space, it felt cold to her—like a gilded cage. No amount of fine decor could distract her from the reality of her situation.

There were only a few other pieces of furniture—a small, ornate vanity with a mirror, and a wardrobe standing tall against the far wall. Both looked expensive but untouched, as though no one had ever used them.

Kyra frowned, feeling the growing sense of unease creep up her spine. Everything in this room seemed designed for show—beautiful but soulless. It reminded her of Benjamin. A superficial facade that hid something much darker underneath.

Her eyes drifted back to the window. Though the view outside was bleak, she couldn’t ignore the feeling that it might be her only chance of escape. But those shadows... they moved too fast, and even with her powers, there was no telling if she could outrun them without drawing more attention to herself. Not yet, she thought.I need a plan first.

She turned back toward the room, still searching for anything that could help. There had to be something, some way to tip the scales in her favor. She couldn’t let Benjamin get away with whatever sick game he was playing—not without a fight.

"Female," a voice called out as the door creaked open. Kyra snapped her gaze toward the entrance, ready to strike if needed. But instead of Benjamin, a young man stepped in.

He had soft brown hair, matching brown eyes, and freckles dotting his cheeks, giving him a sweet, almost innocent appearance. He looked out of place in such a dangerous environment, like a puppy that had wandered into a lion’s den.

Kyra’s eyes flashed with sudden realization. This boy could be useful. Perhaps she could turn him to her side—gain his trust, extract more information about this place, and use him to find a way out. And why stop at escaping? If she was really in the main land of the Ghost Eye Group, perhaps she could figure out how to bring the entire organization crumbling down from within.

She watched him carefully, her mind already working on how to manipulate the situation. Start small, Kyra, she thought. Don’t scare him off, not yet.

With a gentle smile that barely reached her eyes, Kyra stepped closer to him, her voice softening as she spoke. "What’s your name?" she asked, trying to mask the intensity of her curiosity. She needed to gain his trust before she could put her plan into action. "Can you help me? I just... I don’t understand what’s happening."

The boy looked hesitant for a moment, shifting awkwardly on his feet before answering, "My name’s Joy." His voice was as sweet as his appearance, almost calming in the eerie atmosphere of the room. "I’m here to... check on you." He seemed nervous, but also curious about her—maybe even sympathetic.
