Chapter 292: Chapter 292 The fear of losing her + Lucas POV
"You mean to say that every member of the Ghost Eye group is linked to the same dead person?" Lucas asked thoughtfully, his gaze fixed on Oceanus as they soared through the sky. His mind raced with possibilities as he considered the implications, glancing at Oceanus’s long, wavy hair, a stormy mix of gray and silver, that blew in the wind. Lucas’s blue eyes met Oceanus’s turquoise gaze, searching for more answers.
Oceanus, ever relaxed, raised his hand in a lazy thumbs up. "Hmm... exactly," he responded, his voice smooth and almost casual, as if the weight of his words was nothing. "Once we find and destroy that person tomb, the entire Ghost Eye group will fall apart in one swoop." He stretched out lazily, resting his head on Simon, who carried him in eagle form, soaring high above the clouds.
"We just need the world key," Oceanus continued, his voice calm, almost indifferent. "Once we have that, we can head to the main base of the Ghost Eye group. Chances are, their leader’s tomb is hidden there." His eyes sparkled with amusement, a sly smile playing at the corner of his lips. As relaxed as he seemed, his words held a deadly seriousness. But that was just Oceanus’s style—calm in the face of chaos.
"Remember, Lucas," Oceanus added with a smirk, "after we take down the Ghost Eye group, you owe me a favor. A big one." He glanced over at Lucas, his grin widening mischievously. "I told you back then you’d need my services again."
Lucas, sitting on Damon’s back as the dragon flew towards Eldoria, the Cloud City where the gate to the world key was located, nodded. His mind was already calculating their next move. Damon, in his majestic dragon form, flew beside Simon, his powerful wings slicing through the air with ease. The stakes were high, and Lucas knew that without Oceanus’s help, their chances were slim. But with him, there was hope.
As they flew, Lucas stole another glance at Oceanus. Goodness! He wasn’t going to introduce her to this male. Weak or not, Oceanus was a charmer through and through. That sly smile, those lazy eyes, the way he could disarm anyone with just a look—it was dangerous. No, there was no way he was letting Oceanus get anywhere near her.
The day slowly gave way to night, and the sky above transformed into a sea of twinkling stars. They shimmered brightly, their glow untouched by the clouds. Unlike the icy, snow-covered lands of Celestia, Eldoria’s climate was cold but free from snow. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of fresh pine from the dense forests that stretched over the land.
Towering mountains loomed in the distance, their rugged cliffs casting long shadows under the starlight. Wide rivers cut through the landscape, their waters flowing swiftly reflecting the stars in a way that made them look like glowing streams of light. The forest below was thick and dark, its depths seeming endless, as if hiding secrets within.
Eldoria, with its high mountains and vast wilderness, felt both serene and dangerous at night. The quiet was only broken by the sound of the wind rustling through the trees, a reminder of the beauty and power that this land held. Here, under the stars, it felt as though anything was possible, but danger was never far away.
After meeting Kyra, Lucas had traveled across many lands, from the vast landscapes of Valoria to the icy terrains of Celestia, and now to Eldoria. This land of eagles, the Eagle Kingdom, was unlike anything he had seen before. According to Oceanus, they were heading towards Cloud City, a place that felt oddly familiar to him, like someone had mentioned the name before, though he couldn’t quite recall where. The memory tugged at the back of his mind, but with everything happening, he let it slide, focusing instead on the path ahead.
He missed his mom, daddy’s and everyone.
The thought of returning home filled him with longing. All he wanted was to go back to their house and live a peaceful life again, away from all the chaos. Maybe, just maybe, he and Kyra could even start a family—have a litter of wolf cubs together. The idea brought a small, hopeful smile to his face, but for now, that dream had to wait.
"Thinking about your mate?" Oceanus asked lazily, casting a sideways glance at Lucas.
"Of course," Lucas replied with a faint smile. "You don’t know how much I miss her. Once you find your own mate, you’ll understand what it’s like." He looked at Oceanus, but his expression shifted almost instantly when the white crystal necklace around his neck began to glow. A sharp pain surged through his chest, and he clenched the necklace tightly, his eyes turning blank with fear.
"Quickly! We need to go!" Lucas said urgently, his forehead beading with sweat. "Ky-ky might be in danger."
Damon, in his beast form, glanced back at Lucas, his voice low and concerned. "What’s wrong?" As a rank-eight dragon, he could speak even in his transformed state.
Lucas grimaced, struggling to catch his breath. "Ky ky—she’s in danger. I felt a sharp pain in my chest, and the crystal is heating up."
Oceanus, far less rattled, raised an eyebrow. "Crystal?" he asked with casual curiosity, though there was a flicker of interest in his turquoise eyes.
"Yeah, the crystal Vincent gave us. It’s linked to each of us. We can feel each other’s pain and locate one another through it," Lucas explained, clutching the glowing necklace tighter as panic edged into his voice.
"Interesting," Oceanus mused, his tone still relaxed. He gave a gentle pat on Simon’s back. "Sim, be quick. Take us to that gate. It sounds like we need to pick up the pace."
Simon nodded his eagle head, his sharp eyes focused on the path ahead, and with a powerful flap of his wings, he increased his speed. Damon, sensing the rising tension, matched his pace, his massive form cutting through the sky even faster. Lucas could feel his heart pounding wildly in his chest, faster and faster, as if each beat echoed his growing fear.
The fear of losing her.
His thoughts raced as he clutched the crystal tighter, the warmth from it only intensifying his dread. The pain in his chest was unbearable, but the thought of Kyra in danger made it all worse. He had to get to her—he couldn’t let anything happen to her.

Lucas’ POV
I could feel Damon’s body tense beneath me, a clear sign that he, too, was worried about Kyra. She was so gentle, powerful, and sweet—how could anyone not care for her deeply?
"Be safe, Ky-ky, wherever you are," I whispered to the winds, hoping my thoughts could reach her.
As I flew, the weight of my decision pressed heavily on me. I knew I had to accept Damon as Kyra’s mate. Vincent and I alone weren’t enough to protect her. With Damon’s power on our side, we could ensure her safety. I had already lost her twice; I couldn’t risk losing her again.
The thought of sharing her with another male, especially one more powerful, was crushing. I worried that I would spend less time with her, and the idea of her loving someone else too—of being less important to her—brought tears to my eyes. The thought was almost unbearable, but it was necessary for her safety. I had to face it, no matter how much it hurt.
Soon, we reached an ancient place with a gate made of stone. The stone walls were painted with strange artwork depicting natural disasters like tornadoes and tsunamis. The imagery was both fascinating and foreboding, hinting at the power and chaos that lay within.
Damon and Simon shifted into their human forms, and we all walked inside. My eyes widened in amazement as I took in the sight. The cave was adorned with glowing pink flower vines that sparkled enchantingly. They were so beautiful that I was tempted to pluck one for Kyra. I imagined how delighted she would be to receive such a gift. Maybe I’d take another for Vincent—his reaction would be interesting to see, given his usual aura.
As we ventured deeper, the cave grew colder. The further we went, the more pronounced the chill became. We eventually reached the end of the cave, where a stunning waterfall cascaded down, its waters glowing softly. The plants around it also emitted a gentle light, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Oceanus’s expression grew slightly tense as he turned left, revealing another cave entrance.
"We can’t go in through the main way," Oceanus said, his voice laced with urgency. "Only someone destined can pass through there. If we attempt it, we’ll be locked out and may lose our chance to save your mate."
My heart sank at his words. The stakes were higher than I’d realized.
"There are powerful beasts that might awaken if we try the direct route," Oceanus continued. "They’ll only respond to the call of the destined person. To avoid them and make it through quickly, we need to find the key via a different path." His tone left no room for doubt; time was of the essence.
Oceanus led us through a small, narrow tunnel. The walls were illuminated by fire sticks, casting flickering shadows as we moved deeper into the cave. The path ahead was uncertain, but the seriousness in Oceanus’s voice drove us forward. We had to find the key and save Ky-ky before it was too late.
