Chapter 310: Chapter 310 Repayment
Kyra’s voice was muffled against Lucas’s chest, her words broken by quiet sobs. "He helped me escape, but I didn’t expect those monsters to kill him," she said, her voice cracking under the weight of her grief. She buried her face deeper into Lucas’s chest, her fingers clutching at his shirt as if holding on to him could somehow keep her pain at bay. "He fought so hard... I tried to save myself and my baby..."
Lucas stroked her hair gently, his hand moving slowly as he tried to soothe her. His eyes flickered with a mix of anger and sadness,"I’m here, Ky-ky... I’ve got you," he murmured softly, his voice low and comforting as he pressed his cheek against her hair. Damon moved closer, resting a hand on her shoulder.
Oceanus looked at them, his gaze finally settling on Kyra. A thought crossed his mind: for helping them, would he ask for repayment now? His eyes flashed with amusement as he considered the idea.
After eating, Lucas turned to Kyra, ready to share everything that had happened.
"_and he cut Damon’s wings," he said, watching her reaction. He knew she might dislike Oceanus for that, but she also couldn’t deny the gratitude she felt for his help.
"And Oceanus destroyed the tomb where those blue shadow ghosts came from. It was cold and strange, but he handled it all. We managed to destroy the tomb afterward..." he explained, giving her every detail he thought she should know.
Kyra listened carefully, absorbing his words.
"Do you have any idea where they held you captive?" Damon asked, his voice serious."Sandra is still a threat. She’s mentally unstable... she’ll do anything. Even at a young age, she was plotting with Benjamin." 𝖓𝔬𝖛𝔭𝔲𝖇.𝔠𝔬𝖒
His expression darkened as he thought about the danger they still faced.
Kyra nodded slowly, her brows furrowing as she tried to recall the details. "I was held captive in a castle... there was this weird rotten mango smell. I remember seeing a tall mountain and a lot of ghosts wandering around," she said, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "I think I remember the path... maybe." She shook her head, struggling to piece together the memories.
Lucas leaned in and kissed her cheek softly. "Don’t worry, Ky-ky. Everything’s fine now. No one will harm you," he reassured her, his voice warm and gentle.
Oceanus, standing nearby, crossed his arms thoughtfully. "I’m afraid the priests, and even the city and county officials, have already been alerted... they might still be trying to find you," he said, his gaze locked onto Kyra, there was also a strange satisfaction in his chest as he watched her look at him, hanging onto his words.
Their eyes met briefly, but Kyra quickly looked away; Oceanus’s gaze was too bright, too intense to hold for long.
"What do you mean?" Damon asked, his brow furrowing as he tried to make sense of Oceanus’s words.
Oceanus leaned back slightly, crossing his arms, his expression calm but serious. "This isn’t a small matter," he explained. "The World Key is no secret among priests; they all know the dark truth. And now that they’ve learned a destined person has appeared, they will stop at nothing to snatch her away." His words were heavy with meaning, and the gravity of the situation settled over the room like a dark cloud.
Lucas’s face tightened, and he glanced at Kyra protectively. "What should we do now?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.
Oceanus gave a confident smile, his gaze lingering on Kyra. "You’re safe with me," he assured, his voice calm but firm. "I have many connections and ways to keep you hidden from their reach."
"What would they even do if they caught her?" Simon asked, his voice tinged with curiosity as he sat on the sofa opposite Lucas and Kyra, leaning forward slightly.
Oceanus’s expression darkened. "They believe Kyra is a blessing sent by the Beastgod," he explained, his voice edged with disgust. "They’ll try to force her to mate with males from various species, hoping to create powerful offspring. Worse, they might even try to force her to summon the Beastgod."
Kyra shivered at the thought, her eyes widening in fear. Lucas and Damon immediately pulled her into a protective embrace, their arms wrapping tightly around her as if shielding her from the world’s dangers.
Kyra buried her face into Lucas’s chest, her body trembling at the horrifying idea. Damon’s hand gently stroked her back, his touch reassuring yet firm, as if promising that he would never let anyone lay a hand on her.
Oceanus stood straight, a sly smile playing on his lips as he folded his arms. "Of course, I’ll help you again," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "But let’s not forget—you still haven’t paid me for the second time I helped you."
"Second time?" Damon’s brows furrowed, glancing at Oceanus in confusion.
Lucas nodded, his expression serious. "He was the same healer who helped us cross Emerald Bay, and he’s the one who healed Vincent and brought him back to life."
Kyra’s eyes widened in recognition, and she looked at Oceanus with newfound gratitude. "Thank you again... so you’re that great healer."
Oceanus’s smile widened, a flicker of amusement in his turquoise eyes. "No need to thank me, little star. But remember, my help doesn’t come cheap—it always has a price."
He finally sat down beside Simon, his posture relaxed but his gaze sharp, watching their reactions closely.
Lucas’s eyes narrowed, suspicion clouding his face. "What do you want this time?"
Damon’s gaze turned cold, piercing Oceanus with a look that clearly said he wasn’t about to let his guard down.
Oceanus stood up, a faint smile playing on his lips. "I’ll tell you what I want later," he said casually, glancing at them all. "For now, you should rest. It’s been a long journey." With that, he turned and walked out, Simon following behind him without saying a word.
Damon watched them go, his eyes narrowing slightly as the door closed behind them. "He’s helpful, but there’s always something strange about him..." he muttered, not quite able to shake his suspicions.
Lucas glanced at Damon and shrugged. "That’s just how he is," he said. Standing up, he leaned down and kissed Kyra gently on the forehead. "I’ll handle the dishes," he added, giving her a quick smile before heading towards the kitchen.
Kyra watched Lucas leave, and then it was just her and Damon, the room falling into a still, quiet atmosphere.
