23: Chapter 23 Targeted
23 -23 Targeted
During the break, the school leaders had a meeting, so exercise time was canceled.
The students gained an extra forty minutes for their precious downtime.
“Su Ran, you really missed out on gaming yesterday when we were studying.
Brother Wang didn’t even realize there was an earthquake!” Wang Dazhuang dramatically spoke to Su the Genius who had just arrived.
“What earthquake?
I didn’t feel anything,” Su Ran asked quizzically.
“Of course!
A quake in the game.
Check out the forum!” Wang Dazhuang handed his cellphone to Su Ran.
Seeing the phone, Su Ran quickly handed his own exquisite phone to Han Siying who sat behind him.
He said, “Thank you, Siying.
I can handle it from here!”
“Hm.” Han Siying took the phone without a word and put it in her pocket.
Seeing Su Ran back to his seat, Liu Yina couldn’t help but whisper, “I thought you had a touch of OCD.”
“Mind your own business.”
Su Ran grabbed Wang Dazhuang’s phone and started browsing the game forum for ‘Clash of Gods and Demons.’
“Newbie town disappears.
Unbelievable!”
“A disaster happens!
The monster in the demon world raided the village.
The worst incident in gaming history!”
“Video reveals Ni Wudao’s secret and rebellious side!”
“High-ranking player Ni Wudao has been kicked from his guild and no one knows where he is.”
…
Su Ran skimmed through the headlines.
Despite not looking into the details, he got a gist of the plight.
He shook his head and continued reading.
“Buying back lost gear at a high price!
—Hua Yan.”
Damn, what gear did I drop?
Su Ran quickly clicked on the message.
“I tried my best to protect the village where our newbie players were born, but alas, it was razed.
I am deeply remorseful for failing you all.
However, I believe that if we work together, we can rebuild the village and bring it back to its former glory.
The new players won’t be homeless.”
“Our defeat was a worthy wake-up call.
The monsters from the Demon World are as smart as humans now.
Please pay more attention in every battle.”
“Lastly, I sincerely wish to recover a relic, The Ring of Magic Power.
It was lost when I died.
It holds a special significance for me.
I have a desperate need to recover it, even though I believe it has probably been wiped from the game.
But I have a sliver of hope.
I will pay 20,000 yuan in cash to anyone who has it.”
The next few comments were from players.
Some were comforting, some were degrading.
Su Ran didn’t read further, he was shocked by the 20,000 yuan mentioned.
Holy smokes!
Twenty thousand is enough to cover my expenditures for a year!
He grumbled about his rash decisions when playing the game, even picking up the item and logging out of the game would have been better.
Thinking about the potential money he could have earned, Su Ran felt a real sting.
But he quickly laughed it off.
Nothing to be worked up about.
He was new to the game and there would be more opportunities in the future.
Taking a game too seriously was failing already.
He returned the phone to Wang Dazhuang and casually said, “I just started playing yesterday.
Didn’t get the hang of it yet.
What’s the big deal about losing newbie’s village?”
Wang Dazhuang exclaimed wide-eyed, “What do you mean what’s the big deal?
Without newbie’s village, our player lives are incomplete, don’t you understand?
Plus, my good friend Ni Wudao was abandoned and sacrificed.
Poor guy.”
Ni Wudao…
Su Ran had a secret smile in his heart, but he didn’t answer.
Just then, an untall classmate walked over.
His lean cheekbones under large glasses, middle-parted hair gave him an intellectual feel.
He was their classmate, Hou Ping, nicknamed Monkey.
“Hey, Wang Dazhuang, Su Ran, we are going to have a soccer match after school, just letting you guys know,” Monkey shouted before he reached them.
“Haha, soccer?
Are you asking for a beating?
My ‘Little soccer player’ nickname has meaning you know!
Okay, I’ll participate!” Wang Dazhuang slapped his chest.
“I won’t participate.
My body won’t allow it,” Su Ran smiled kindly and was about to sit down.
“What do you mean?” Monkey glared with small eyes.
His thin face has some intimidating vibes.
He hurried over and forcefully slapped the table, “Su the Disabled, others put you on high regard, but I won’t stand your arrogance!
You must participate in today’s soccer game.
This is about our class honor and our class bonding!”
Just as Monkey finished talking, Lin Yuqing suddenly stood up.
The shock even knocked books off her table.
The school beauty Han Siying also slowly stood up.
She didn’t make a sound, but the intimidating vibe from her eyes made Monkey step back subconsciously.
“You skinny monkey, who inflated your ego!
You look nothing more than a toothpick, but you act all high and mighty here.
You are not welcome here, get back to your seat!” Lin Yuqing scolded, standing with hands on her hips.
Han Siying just stared at Monkey without saying a word.
Su Ran watched his classmates defend him with a wry smile, scratching his hair without saying anything.
“You, you fat girl!
I ought to put you in your place!” Monkey was furious.
He picked up a book from the ground and threw it to Lin Yuqing.
Lin Yuqing’s eyes flashed with panic as she raised her hands to shield herself.
The whole class suddenly tensed.
They were so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
After a few seconds, the expected pain didn’t come.
What’s happening?
Lin Yuqing opened her eyes in confusion.
What greeted her was Monkey, holding his book high and standing, trembling, not even daring to breathe.
A compass’s sharp end was right in front of his eyes, not even one centimeter away.
A minor move would be enough to stab his eye.
And the person holding the compass was Han Siying.
“Get lost.” As cold as ice, she spat out the word which made Monkey’s hair stand.
He trembled and turned slowly towards his seat, then ran.
The whole class was stunned by this scene, even forgetting to breathe.
Han Siying turned and met everyone’s eye, hurriedly clocking back to their books.
Except for one student, Zhang Meng, who was six feet tall and weighed 200 pounds with bulging muscles that seemed ready to burst out of his uniform.
He wobbled his head, slowly getting up and walked towards Su Ran.
