Chapter 100: Battles, Second Pet Revealed
For the timing, the score was 1 per minute left in the 10-minute window, so Ian received a 6.22 score in Time-score. If a battle lasted over 10 minutes, the Tamer would be disqualified.
From the Executives, he got average scores.
Azelis - [5/10]
Rudh - [5/10]
Jason - [5/10]
Tavros - [6/10]
Korrat - [5/10]
Jasmine - [5/10]
"Next!"
"Young ones these days don’t have the curiosity and intensity like before," Executive Rudh said as he caressed his beard.
"Indeed. He could defeat the bird easily, but failed to utilize his tree Monster’s skills properly by missing the target due to not considering some obvious possibilities," Jasmine said with a nod, her eyes going towards John and a few others. "We’d have to wait a tad bit till we see some exceptional combats."
The executives especially couldn’t wait to see John’s Pets and his combat ability.
As the second Tamer arrived in the battleground, the spiky-haired Executive spoke, "Now, these three Monsters will change every battle so that all matches are fair."
"And do note that even if a Monster appears again, their skill-set will be different, so do not assume you know them."
And so, the Tamers began fighting the battles one by one.
There were some Tamers who screwed up, some moderately and badly as they got bad scores.
But John also saw a dark horse when the battles reached the 25th rank. A man in his early twenties with a rather good martial prowess and skilled Pet Monsters finished the battle in a rather quick and efficient manner, acquiring a score of 8 from all.
The most notable boost a Tamer could gain was Soul Synergy, but its duration and effectiveness depended on the bond, and John could see that not many had great bonds.
Soon, the battle reached the 8th pillar, and that’s where John saw someone familiar.
Aurelia, the girl whose Monster he had evolved from, failed the evolution of Snow-Paw Leopard into a King-rank Potential Blackfrost Hunter Lynx.
’My free publicity agent, eh? Nice, make sure to get a good score and spread the name of Sage Kindred far and wide.’
Aurelia summoned Blackfrost Hunter Lynx who looked kingly predator now that it reached the Prime-stage of the Silver-rank.
The second Pet Monster she summoned was a Nox-Bellied Flying Serpent [ Poison / Noxwind ]
A snake with wings, stretching 12 meters long with a wingspan of 6 meters.
The countdown hit zero, and the battle began.
Ironreed Snapper Heron – [Metal / Water / Bow]
Ashfang Blazehound - [Fire / Darkness / Decay]
Sapphire Murkcoil Lobster - [ Crystal / Mud ]
The moment the countdown hit zero, Auralia used Soul Synergy as well as commanded her Nox-Bellied Flying Serpent to attack the Heron flying up as its legs formed a bow with a gleaming arrow nocked and stretching.
The Nox Bellied Serpent shot an orb that blasted into a poisonous cloud, enveloping the Heron and blinding it with a debuff that also affected it with vitality-reducing poison.
The bird still shot an arrow, but it went wide while Auralia, with her Soul Synergy active, unleashed a flaming spinning disk.
Her Soul Synergy was rather good, so her stats received a 90 %+ boost, and using 100 soul energy in that attack, which had 900+ Soul Power after her Pet’s Soul power boosted hers, she finished off the Heron in one shot of the Blazing Spinning Disk.
The Ashfang Blazehound snarled, fire and rotting darkness licking off its mangled fur like tar flames.
It was already rushing at Auralia and used a skill midway as a chopping, blazing jaw with pulsing dark spots to bite Auralia.
The Blackfrost Hunter Lynx growled as a black-icy round shield with patterns manifested to block it.
Auralia saw the Lobster attacking her with a beam, but she used her Soul Technique—Snow-Wind Drift as she accelerated while leaving a path of thin ice.
"Not bad. She achieved a proper mastery of that Snow-Wind Drift. Her speed is fast, and the icy path blooms by absorbing atmospheric spirit energy rather than her own soul energy," Executive Rudh praised with a nod.
Auralia used another skill of her third Pet Monster with her Soul Synergy still running, releasing a fast spinning disk at the Lobster while the clash between Lynx and Blazehound intensified as both of them clashed after Lynx’s shield blocked the attack.
It could resist the decay power of Ashfang Blazehound since Darkness and Light attributes had resistance against decay, and it had an Ice + Darkness attribute shield, so it lasted long enough to end in mutual destruction of both skills.
Auralia dodged the Lobster’s attacks, while the Lobster also had rather good defense and offense skills, but Auralia’s high Soul Synergy buff gave her enough power to break through it.
After forcing the Lobster to an ideal position with her Flying Serpent, she finished it off.
On the other hand, her Lynx won the battle against Ashfang Blazehound in a one-versus-one fight, ending it with a Blackfrost Spike Burst that finished it off.
The battle lasted for 1 minute and 4 seconds. This was the best and fastest performance so far, as the audience cheered loudly and clapped.
Shortly, the executives used their soul energies as usual to display their scores.
Azelis - [8/10]
Rudh - [8/10]
Jason - [9/10]
Tavros - [8.5/10]
Korrat - [8.5/10]
Jasmine - [8.5/10]
Taking the first rank so far, Auralia returned to her pillar in a jolly mood.
Then came the 7th ranked Tamer who took twenty seconds more than Auralia.
One by one, the high-ranking Tamers fought and got very close scores.
And finally came the turn of the 2nd ranker.
Rakin Lockham.
And his battle was as fierce and fast as everyone expected.
In just 36 seconds, he and his two Pet Monsters killed the three Monsters, displaying his full prowess and ending the battle with a bang.
"Two Innate Talents, Pet Monsters with good potential, and training since a very young age. As expected of Lokham family’s youngest heir," Executive Jason said with a smile. "That was quite a performance."
"Now, Executives, please give your scores to Rakin."
Azelis - [9/10]
Rudh - [9/10]
Jason - [10/10]
Tavros - [10/10]
Korrat - [9.5/10]
Jasmine - [9.5/10]
’Nines? The fuck?’ Rakin felt irritated upon seeing that not everyone gave him full scores.
"Now, we are finally at our last contestant of this round."
"John Wicked! John Wicked!"
The noise of the audience instantly went up a notch the moment the spiky-haired Executive finished speaking.
Rakin clenched his fist as he went back to his position, while John’s grin appeared on all screens as he jumped from his pillar and landed in the center.
The three Monsters were generated shortly, and a giant ten-second countdown appeared in the sky.
’Well then, we have to end this fast and swift, so come out, Pymon and Alfred. Time to show these chaps how to fight.’
John manifested his pistol while two lights shot out of him.
Alfred appeared beside him while another light shot up in the sky as everyone’s eyes followed, intensely curious to finally see his other Monsters.
The light expanded and transformed into a majestic falcon with a sleek body covered in shimmering feathers of blue, grey, and gold, crackling with darkwind, water, and lightning as if harboring a violent storm. 𝚗ov𝚙𝚞𝚋.c𝚘m
The blade-like wings whipped up gales as Pymon cried, flying while leaving trails of charged mist in his wake that crackled with lightning and sparks.
’Behold,’ Azelis smirked and glanced at the other Executives, who all had dumbfounded expressions as they looked at Pymon.
’What?! A Thunderblitz Tempest Falcon?’ Rakin’s eyes widened as an inferno of jealousy erupted. ’How can this bastard have this Monster?!’
Meanwhile, the audience also got excited.
"Holy shit, that bird is awesome!"
"It looks freaking cool and majestic!"
"It has a crown on its head!"
"What’s the name of that Monster?"
"The wolf is a badass alpha, and the bird is sharply majestic. Both of his Pets are so damn wonderful looking."
"That movement skill he used must be from the bird. Can’t wait to see the battle!"
"And the countdown hit zero!"
