Chapter 49: Singular Soul-Mind Focused State

John spent a total of four hours outside before he returned to the courtyard at around 1 a.m.

He had a lot of fun, gambled, earned 140 Gold Essence Coins, and also spent 50 of them to buy weed.

As he arrived in the courtyard, it was empty, but still bright with flying lanterns and lighting of the mountain’s other structures, along with the bright city itself, despite being in the middle of the night.

John sat down cross-legged, smoked the best joint that could help in focus, and began the most important work.

He knew his Genome Code, so he just needed to expand it using Inner Eye and create a body reflective of that data, which would result in the ideal spirit physique once he connected it with his soul source.

At least, that was his theory, and his guts told him he was 99.9% right.

All he needs to do is succeed in the operation by creating a perfect spirit physique without making any mistakes.

And in the blink of an eye, ten hours passed by.

"Hey, John. What are you doing?"

Azelis called out as she arrived.

But John couldn’t respond.

Because he didn’t hear anything at all.

He had somehow managed to go so deep in focus on the completion of his Spirit Physique that he had completely shut himself off.

Of course, Alfred and others were alert with Chuthulos making arrangements after sensing this state of John.

"John?" Azelis frowned as John didn’t respond to the first call. She stretched her hand and flicked her finger on his forehead slightly.

John’s figure leaned back as he gradually fell and hit the grou-, no Azelis saved him as a dark palm, stopping his fall.

"Shit, what happened?" Azelis realized something was wrong and sat him back in his position before putting her hand on his forehead.

Seeing all these were Alfred and others in the Monster Paradise, with Chuthulos floating right above them as he had finished adding the avatar manifestation function two hours ago.

[Look at your Master. He got high, and then entered into some kind of focused state, bwahahaha.]

"Master is fine, right?" Pymon worriedly asked.

"I think so," Alfred nodded. "I can feel his soul. It’s fine."

[Don’t worry. Brother John is fine. It’s just that he will only wake up after finishing his Spirit Physique.]

On the other hand, Azelis was confused.

"He is perfectly fine...even his soul feels vigorous as usual."

Suddenly, a man arrived on the ground, standing right behind John.

Hall Master Varek—the only Sovereign-rank Tamer of the Ouroboros Hall here.

"Hall Master," Azelis stood up and cupped her fist. "Do you know what happened to him?"

"I have an idea, however, I wouldn’t like to believe it myself," Hall Master Varek said with a wry tone as he looked at John. "If I am not wrong, he has entered the Singular Soul-Mind Focused State."

"What?" Azelis blinked, having heard such a term for the first time. "What happens in that state?"

"The person has basically achieved a synergy between mind and soul to allow for a high state of consciousness where it is focused on a single activity while shutting down everything else," Hall Master Varek narrowed his eyes. "I had heard ingesting a Legendary-rank strain of some plant could make one high enough to accidentally make a person enter this state, but this kiddo just smoked a couple of cheap joints and entered this..."

"..."

Azelis was speechless and turned to John, who was frozen like a rock in the cross-legged position.

"So what is he doing?" she asked.

"No idea," Varek shook his head. "If you haven’t noticed, look at him with increased ocular sensitivity, and you will see that the frequency of spirit energy around him is completely different."

"It is literally stopping me from peeking inside him despite my powerful Soul Palace of Sovereign-rank."

Azelis was shocked. "So... I guess it’s a good thing, right?"

"Depends on what kind of focused activity he is doing," Varek said before turning around. "Either way, it seems you indeed brought an interesting kid. I hope he grows and shows enough to be made your apprentice."

He left after speaking, vanishing like a passing breeze.

Azelis took out a chair and sat down, looking at John.

"Let’s hope you are focusing on either Soul Technique or Monster Geno Art."

Suddenly, she saw John’s eyes opening while a pulse of spiritual force propelled out from him before dispersing.

John blinked a few times. Due to the full brightness of the sun right above him, he squinted his eyes and asked, "What time is it, teacher?"

"..."

John blinked as he slowly expanded his eyes. ’Anyway, it seems I actually succeeded in making my Spirit Physique. Awesome.’

"It’s noon. Get up and go freshen up. You are going for the mandatory sect activity."

"I’m hungry."

"We’ll get food on the way. For you and your pets both."

"Thank you."

Though John had already brought food and also seeds of plants from Alchemy Shops for the Monster Paradise’s Monsters with money he won from gambling. With his Outer Eye, he could easily cheat in the casino against others, but he knew doing it too much would instead put him in trouble, so he stopped after earning 140 Gold Essence Coins.

John soon freshened up and wore a white Ouroboros robe with black and dark gold patterns this time before departing with Azelis.

They arrived at a large bustling hall at the lower part of the mountain before going through some corridors and arriving at an open ground at the back of the mountain with flying ships stationed on the platforms and a group of Silver-rank Tamers with one King-ranked senior Tamer.

All of them looked at Azelis and John as they arrived, and it looked like they were just waiting for them.

’John,’ Azelis relayed directly to John’s mind using Soul Whisper. ’You have to go with them to participate in a rewarding-type training activity that every tamer must go through every week for their own benefits.’

’That sounds great, but I can return by tonight, right?’ John asked. He had to return here on time as Sage Kindred to receive praise and fortune from the people at the Tamer’s Market!

’Yeah, you will be here by the time the clock hits 9 p.m.’
