Chapter 78: Rexion’s New Form!
At 5 p.m. John successfully concluded his run. Instead of 100, he had successfully hunted over 200 Silver-rank Monsters and 16 Gold-rank Monsters.
He also got six Silver-rank and two Gold-rank resources, and for him, all resources were useful because the Evolution Pathway skill could always open a new possibility for the abundance of Monsters he had due to him also having a large collection of Geno Points stored in Genome Pocket.
All monsters he killed and extracted gave him some Geno Points, so he had thousands of them as he didn’t use them much since he wanted to keep more possibilities open.
Of course, he also planned to use them for the rapid development of some monsters since he could use them to convert into Geno Potential of the monsters and trigger Geno Potential Burst.
But first, John decided to rank-up and evolve Crocky, Sony, Merc, Owl, and the Twin-Fanged Snake Panther.
He had sufficient gold-rank resources, Silver-rank resources, and Geno Points for the best possible evolutions of those five.
It was also time for Rexion to come out of the cocoon, so by the time John prepared the resources and put the five of them in their cocoons, Rexion was about to emerge.
John sat under the biggest vermilion tree with Rexion’s cocoon in front of him. It was shaking and cracking.
Soon, Rexion broke out of the cocoon as it broke from all sides, revealing a meter-tall drake with shimmering dark red scales looking like jagged volcanic rock that had dark gold patterns.
Standing on its four legs with the thick tail whipping at the back, Rexion roared while looking up, sounding cuter rather than ferocious as he was still a Young-stage Monster for now.
"Congrats, buddy." John grinned.
Rexion’s majestic draconic head with two small curly horns and big eyes sparkled as he rushed at John and started licking his face.
"Okay, dawg, that’s enough licking. Let me take a good look at you now and then we’ll go for training."
"Rhrrrr!" Rexion nodded, eager to fight and train to get stronger.
John laughed. "You can speak here if you forgot."
"Hehehehe..." Rexion laughed in a silly manner. He was still a kid, after all.

"Alright, show me the Veinflare Burst first. Shoot it at that boulder," John said as he waved his hand and created a boulder. "Use 50 soul energy."
Suddenly, he thought of something and grinned. ’Make the Boulder’s defense as strong as 100 in value.’
The boulder slightly glowed as a few more Molding Essence were consumed to make its defense 100.
Rexion looked at the boulder and cried lightly as its body began to glow.
John was watching and was startled. ’Damn, the pulses of Light and Bloodscript are flowing through his veins before concentrating...at the head?’
In the next moment, Rexion’s big eyes burst out with a radiant crimson beam like the blood had consumed the golden light and combined into a concentrated destructive energy.
It struck the boulder instantly, burning it and penetrating a half-10-centimeter hole into it!
’Damn, this beam is powerful enough to hurt peak Silver-rank Monsters even though Rexion’s Soul power is just at 110 right now!’
John was overjoyed. He knew Rexion’s skills were going to be crazily powerful, but this was awesome!
Of course, the Boulder had a defense of 100, but other Monsters with 100 defense could also have defensive skills to increase their defense further or even use their quirks to give themselves an extra layer of protection.
Still, it proved that this Veinflare Burst skill was top-tier.
"Next, use the Dawnsnare Rune worth 50 soul energy. It looks like a trap-type skill, so I’ll make a dummy," John said as he consumed 100 Molding Essence to create a dummy with 100 defense, which was more like a simple metal robot that could walk according to his command.
Rexion heeded John’s command and spat out a small, dark gold orb with red sparks on the ground five meters ahead.
When it hit the ground, it spread into a circle of a one-meter radius with eccentric patterns, becoming dim and invisible. With the grass, it wasn’t even visible.
John told the dummy to walk over that area.
The moment it stepped foot on the trap, glowing dark gold ropes like tentacles with crimson patterns wrapped around the dummy’s limbs and body, tightly clutching it!
Moreover, those bindings were searing hot and acidic!
"So it’s a trap plus damage?! Yeah, that’s nasty," John said with a laugh.
"Yeeaa!" Rexion yelled cheerfully upon seeing John laugh at the spectacle of his skill.
"Alright, here’s fifty soul energy. Use the third skill you got," John transferred soul energy into Rexion from himself.
Rexion did as told, and in the next moment, the scales on his four legs and tail became enhanced, turning bigger yet sleeker and shining with patterns.
John blinked before his jaw dropped. "It’s a direct stat booster plus defense increase. No wonder the skill consumed soul energy like that.
[Searing Blood Armor]: Costs 100% of soul energy to cover the entire body with Searing Blood Armor for 5 minutes or until it’s broken. Increases all physical stats by 50% and gains a certain amount of resistance to Physical and Magical attacks. Rexion’s physical attacks in this form cause bleeding and prevent the target’s healing, while self-healing is based on the damage dealt.
"Alright, buddy. It looks like I’ll have to train you how to fight physically."
"Yeessss!" Rexion shouted. "Fight, let’s fight!"
"Yep, let’s go."
John left Monster Paradise with Rexion, Alfred, and Pymon.
He was still in the valley and still had four hours before beginning his operation to save the royal kids and get the juicy rewards.
"I got Soul Crystals in spare to feed you, but I’ll give you after each hunt you get, okay?"
Rexion nodded.
"Pymon, Alfred, check out the surroundings and see if you can find any Adult-stage or lower Silver-rank Monsters."
