Chapter 80: Mission Passed. Respect +
9:23 p.m.
"Alright, this is enough."
John said as he looked around the small cave of 30 30-meter radius that the diggers created, a sort of cavity that was exactly 50 meters below the cage in which the two kids were imprisoned.
Going further up would be risky since if one of the Gold-rank Monsters, just in case, somehow, detected the drillers below and decided to tell it to their Tamers and they decided to dig it up, it would be over.
Still, John felt this plan was pretty foolproof. He just had to execute it perfectly without mistakes or having unwanted elements in the play.
Looking at the hole which had a passage stretching a kilometer long, John thought out loud. "Our entry route is ready, but I think should we make a new exit route."
"We are at the edge of the mountain, which has extended ground at this altitude, making this spot fairly a hidden one, so just around 150 meters to the north of their camp is the edge. From there, we can instantly go up to the high altitude or...would it be better to fly below?"
John rubbed his chin as he mumbled something before slapping his thigh and standing up. "Alright, time to dig one more tunnel."
The three diggers nodded, and John began the work.
Ten minutes later, he successfully exited at the north wall of the mountain, with a fall of 5000 meters deep just a few steps away from him.
Looking at the vast stretching greenery and exotic areas affected with the spirit energy of various attributes glowing in the night looked dreamily beautiful, but more like a paradise in a nightmare.
"Alright, let’s return."
Just as John returned to the rescue cavity, he got a message from Pymon, who was flying four kilometers high above and looking at the camp, keenly observing all the movements.
And just now, Pymon told him that three Tamers left on flying monsters.
’So they left...but three?’ John’s eyes glinted as he remembered seeing four tamers talking with the knights.
’So there are two Gold-rank Tamers in the camp this time. Well, fuck me. We are doing this.’
’Pymon, stay at the exit point. I’ll be there soon.’
’Alfred, Rexion, are you two at the position?’
Alfred and Rexion have been hiding for the past hour at the same location.
Sixty meters to the west of the camp, Alfred and Rexion were crouched on a tree’s branch, silently looking at the camp. It helped that this rather good secret spot was lush with greenery.
Both of them replied to John as they were ready to rumble.
’Good. Wait for my signal.’
John took a deep breath and looked at the diggers. "You’ve already practiced, so you can do it. Don’t fuck up, got it?"
The worm, the mole, and the groundhog nodded, their eyes somber.
They stood in a circle and looked up at the X mark, the place where they had to dig straight through.
By forming a powerful drilling momentum with the three of them working together, precisely and as silently as possible, they would dig through 50 meters in five seconds, going straight up and stopping right before drilling out of the surface. They could at least sense Earth’s distinctions easily thanks to their level 1 Earth mastery.
"Go!" John nodded at the digger and also gave the signal to Alfred and Rexion. ’Go, blast their camp and lead them!’
Alfred and Rexion both jumped high from the branch.
Alfred unleashed an orb of compressed Blood, Darkness, and Frostfire energy by manipulating them with his level 2 masteries of these three attributes.
The orb landed on one of the two tents that were further away from the cage and blasted it, creating a chaotic zone of powdering mist, freezing, and corrosive.
At the same time, Rexion also used Veinflare Burst, shooting a powerful laser from his eyes right into the other tent and blasting it.
The Gold-rank Monsters roared but didn’t spring into action as if they needed orders from their masters. They just cried and shouted.
"Fucking hell! What happened?"
A man and a woman blasted out of the rubble of the second tent that Rexion blasted.
"Kill them! If you’ve located the monsters, fucking kill them! Go!" the man shouted before he used a soul technique that created wings on his back and shot in the direction of Alfred and Rexion. "Fucking wild monsters!"
But Alfred and Rexion were already running away at their full speed. Their job was to run until their death. They would just return to John’s soul pet upon death and would be able to revive with spirit energy from the Silver Essence Coins.
"Why would wild monsters attack here out of nowhere?" the woman who remained behind frowned and looked around before pausing on the cage.
She made a dash and waved her hand, blasting a gust of wind to blow the cover away.
However, her eyes widened and pupils shrank before blood rushed into her head upon seeing the cage’s content.
"Rovin! Get back here!! The kids are fucking gone!"
After shouting, she broke the metal cage with a chop of her hand and jumped into the hole.
"Goddamn it!"
She landed and arrived in the cavity before looking at the two passages.
"Fuck!"
After cursing out loud, she used her Fire Mastery to point an arrow at the passage leading to the cavern and wrote "Go here" below it while she moved into a passage that was the actual exit.
Upon arriving there, the woman looked down and up, but there was no one there.
"Fuck me."
She rushed back to the cavity and went to the other passage before arriving at the huge cavern with the tattered dead body of a giant frog.
Rovin was standing not too far as he had returned swiftly upon hearing her shout and went into the passage according to the arrow.
"Viona, what the fuck is this place?" Rovin looked at her, his face ashen. "We were supposed to fucking kill those kids after getting the ransom, but if they are rescued, then Zumail and others are in danger. What now?"
Viona clenched her fists, unable to make a decision.
However, Rovin’s eyes were determined. "We are screwed, so there’s no point anymore. We have to escape now or we might get caught."
...
At the camp of the Knights.
The three evil Tamers who arrived were sitting outside the camp at a table, facing the knights.
"The clock is about to hit ten. You better take out the stuff," Zumail, the man with curvy, long black hair, said as he played with a small knight in his hand, a spirit item.
The leader of the knights flatly said, "The deal was supposed to happen at ten and there’s still six minutes left."
"Tsk. Have it your way, but don’t play any tricks, or I’ll just need half a second to send a message to my companions, who will decapitate your precious prince and princess."
’Five minutes. Do you think that kid’s party succeeded?’
’They are from Ouroboros Hall, so I have full faith.’
’I hope so...’
Suddenly, everyone heard a loud whistle and a crackle of thunder above, illuminating a lightning flash.
The knights and the evil tamers looked up and saw a giant falcon flying a kilometer above.
Before the Tamers could use their respective ocular skill for enhanced vision, a shout resounded from above.
"I GOT THE KIDS!"
After shouting that, John, who was alone on Pymon’s back, told Pymon to use Tempest Streak as they shot away from the Tamer’s vision quickly before vanishing as John and Pymon entered Monster Paradise.
John had put the kids to sleep forcefully by controlling their blood a bit using his Blood Mastery after getting them, so he could safely send them into Monster Paradise.
Although Chuthulos said he couldn’t let other people inside Monster Paradise, it was for his own safety in a way, but if he wanted, he could indeed let other people inside Monster Paradise.
Putting the kids inside was better for this operation.
That way, he wouldn’t need to worry about exposing Monster Paradise, the kids would also remain safe, and he would have less trouble on his hands when escaping as escaping alone on Pymon’s back was better than having two more people alongside, which could slow down Pymon.
"Well, let’s revive Alfred and Rexion. The fight between the Knights and the bandits will be over in a few minutes."
All knights were Gold-rank Tamers, so ten vs three had a rather predictable result.
After John revived Alfred and Rexion using a few hundred Silver Essence Coins, he went out with Pymon, appearing in the same location where he had disappeared, and watched the battle.
The Gold-rank Tamers had taken out all of their monsters, numbering a total of 12 Gold-rank Monsters of variety.
The other side had 40 Gold-rank Monsters, so it was more like a cat and mouse chase, but the number of mice was low while the cats was high.
The evil Tamers tried to run, but there was no escaping anymore when chased by this many Monsters. They were killed in the end.
John took the kids out of Monster Paradise and descended to their camps.
"Here you go."
"You brought them back!"
"Their pulse is fine. They don’t have any problem, alright!"
"Great!"
The knights were overjoyed as the leader knight took the kids gently and put them on the bed he took out from his storage ring.
"Hey, John. Where are your seniors?" the leader knight approached John.
"Oh, they?" John smiled. "They left. They saved the kids and told me to hand them over to you. We have to go now, so if you can give me the bounty, I’ll be on my way."
"Hahaha, of course. Here you go," the leader Knight took out a pouch and handed it to John. "Take it. Ten thousand Gold Essence Coins, and three King-rank Fruits. Truly, thank you for saving our prince and princess."
The leader knight had a complicated yet relieved expression in his eyes.
John’s eyes lit up as he grabbed the pouch and checked it.
"Awesome. May you all stay blessed and happy," John said with a grin. "Now, I’ll be on my way."
"All the best and good luck, John. May you also stay safe and strong."
As John left on Pymon’s back and flew away, a bearded Knight in his forties approached the leader and said with a grin. "This kid was lying."
"He is a good liar. We were deceived," the leader Knight wryly smiled. "Too late, but I’m glad he managed to convince us. If we knew he was alone, we would have instead stopped him from messing in, and..."
"The prince and princess would have died," the bearded knight sighed. "We got the intel late, but all’s good now."
"Yes, all is good now thanks to that kid," the leader knight truly felt relieved.
