"My Prince, I came to inform you I will be leaving now to get started with my mission. I know this is early, but I want to get it done properly, so I can only move out now."
Kent said to Prince Ebert, who was seated with a beauty on his lap. He most certainly didn't want to say it, but the guy was making him even angrier with this display.
"Very well. I will allow you to go. But you must take this. I will contact you when I arrive." He threw a communication token to Kent, who caught it
"You can also contact me through it if something pops up," Kent nodded and left speedily.
He knew if he stayed there a few more minutes, he would lunge at the guy and kill him.
After leaving, he went to see his two friends.
"Lonki, Karvar, I will be leaving early for the mission given to me by the prince. I don't know if I will ever see you guys again, considering it's a dangerous one, so I want to ask one last time: do you two really want to join this invasion? Like, do you have your heart in it and believe in it?"
Kent asked, and the two stared at him with strange expressions.
"Why ask this question, Larkas? Those Bloodfiends have stayed in charge for too long. Us taking over is only natural," Lonki answered with a smirk.
"I can already see my bed shaking with Redskin beauties lined on it," Karvar also said, with a lustful expression.
Kent examined them with his soul, and he could tell they meant everything they said, which caused him to sigh.
"In that case, I wish you two the best of fortune. May the Beast God smile on you two," Kent said, tapping them on the shoulder.
Perhaps because Larkas's body helped him complete his mission, he didn't want to kill his friends. However, from their response, they held no remorse for the Bloodvein race.
This could only mean they wouldn't hesitate to work towards their dream.
In that case, Kent wouldn't hold back and kill them when the time comes.
"Take care, Larkas. You are going into enemy territory," Lonki said, and Karvar nodded.
"I know, and I will be careful. See you two around." With that, Kent left and went straight to the border before finally leaving the domain of the Dreadclaws.
Kent didn't want to draw attention, so he ran 20 miles before stopping. Even so, he waited ten minutes, ensuring he wasn't followed.
When he was satisfied, he turned back to his real form and spread his wings, speeding toward the domain of the Bloodveins.
Meanwhile, back in the Dreadclaw Tribe, Lonki and Karvar continued talking until Lonki suddenly said something that raised Karvar's brow.
"Is it just me, or is something different about Larkas?"
"What do you mean?" Karvar questioned.
"I mean, he never told us the mission he was going on. In the past, he would have. Also, the way he talked to us before he left—it felt more like he wasn't him, yet he was him.
Not that it is important. What I am puzzled about is the fact that he tried to persuade us."
Karvar brushed his beard, holding a thoughtful expression. "You don't think he knew something that could put our lives in danger, and so he asked that?"
"Nonsense. Larkas wouldn't hold anything back if it concerned our lives." Lonki didn't even want to entertain that idea.
"What if he is under a spell that prevents him from saying anything?"
"That makes sense, then. I can already see a pattern here, Karvar. Perhaps he indeed tried warning us." Lonki didn't want to admit it, but Karvar's reasoning made some sense.
"If that is the case, then perhaps we should rethink this whole war thing," Lonki suggested, and Karvar nodded.
"We can't walk away, but we can stay alive. Knowing the Soulshroud Tribe will be our allies, I say we use the numbers to our advantage. Regardless of what happens, I want us to come out alive."
Karvar nodded again.
"That sneaky bastard. Despite being under a spell, he managed to warn us. We should give him a good beating when we see him again," the two friends nodded.
However, Kent's desires and their reasoning didn't align. In any case, they would make their move, and Kent would also make his. In the end, it would be between who wants to live and who has the will to live.
It took Kent five hours to reach the borders of the Bloodvein Tribe. When the five guards saw him this time, they didn't attack. Instead, two escorted him back to the tribe, showing how much things had changed.
Kent didn't immediately go to see the tribe chief or the elders. He first walked around the tribe with his two guards, who were assigned to never leave his side and attend to all his wants.
Kent spent seven whole hours examining the tribe but found nothing. However, since the tower had pointed him in the right direction, he didn't stop and continued for another three hours.
Thankfully, when he was contemplating giving up, his senses picked up something. This made him move in that direction.
It was hidden deep in a cave that nobody would dare go near. But when he got there, he got the shock of his life.
"This is too sinister," Kent muttered, watching the most sinister thing he had seen so far in his time in the world of Sonox.
After examining it, he left to see the tribe chief and the elders. Naturally, Valyra was there too.
"My mission was a success. In three days, they will come, but don't worry, they won't get anywhere.
However, I have some good and some bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"
Tribe Chief Malthar looked at the four inside with him and then sighed.
"The bad first," he said.
"The bad news is, every last Bloodvein will die in ten years."
"WHAT?"
