Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Who to Call
Chapter 43 -43: Who to Call
During the rest period after lunch, Tang Yu was spacing out alone in the stairwell.
The phone on her body rang, and Tang Yu’s heart sank, thinking it was Ye Sihan looking for her.
However, the person looking for her was Ye Yuli, and she had no inclination to answer, but the calls came one after another, which was very annoying.
“What do you want?”
“I heard Ye Sihan went with you to the wedding anniversary banquet over there?” Ye Yuli asked.
“If you want to mock me, just say it.”
“You didn’t say Yu Zhaohui is your mom,” Ye Yuli’s voice suddenly turned somber.
“Why should I tell you?” Tang Yu scoffed.
The banquet had caused such a commotion, and with relatives of the Ye Family present, Ye Yuli and Lin Shuhuan surely knew about it.
“Ye Sihan won’t let you go. If you need my help, you can ask for it.”
Tang Yu would never trust the words of a jerk like him; if it wasn’t for him, how would she have ended up in such a dire situation, caught between a rock and a hard place?
Ye Yuli was still Ye Sihan’s cousin; who knew what he was plotting?
“Just be a good husband to someone else, my affairs don’t need your interference.” Tang Yu couldn’t bother to continue the conversation and hung up the phone.
She brought her legs together, resting her head on her knees, contemplating a solution.
Was there no other way out except to flee?
The door behind her was opened. Tang Yu straightened up and turned around, her mind blanking as she saw the man standing at the top of the stairs emanating an oppressive aura.
She immediately stood up and backed away, pressing her body against the wall.
Her feet stood next to the steps, shaking precariously as if on a tightrope, ready to fall at any moment.
“Who were you calling?” Ye Sihan asked while descending the stairs with a rhythm that was neither hurried nor slow, graceful yet dangerous.
Tang Yu’s expression turned frantic as she tried to calm herself, unsure whether to tell the truth or not.
An outstretched hand grasped her chin, forcing it up, “Preparing to lie again?”
“…No, it was Ye Yuli on the phone, asking me about the incident yesterday…” The call log was there; Tang Yu couldn’t afford to tell a lie that could be so easily exposed.
“What else did he say?”
“Nothing else…”
“After being exposed, you still want to go back to him?” Ye Sihan’s dark eyes were chilling, and he applied force to his grip, “Hm?”
“I don’t…” Tang Yu said, wincing in pain as her jawbone was squeezed tightly.
“You think you can manipulate men from the Ye Family so easily? I’ll let you know just how dangerous it is to get close to me,” Ye Sihan ordered coldly, “Kneel.”
Tang Yu’s body shivered; the expected had finally come.
Right there in the staircase of the emergency exit, a hallway where anyone could come in at any moment, Tang Yu knelt on the steps.
Sobs and tears couldn’t save her.
Each second of torment stretched on inordinately long, feeling like an entire century, before it stopped.
Tang Yu weakly leaned against the wall, crying, like a broken doll that had been discarded.
As Ye Sihan turned to leave, she spoke out with a hoarse voice, “You can make me do whatever you want, but can you give me a deadline?”
Perhaps a month, half a year; as long as there was a deadline, she could still carry on.
The fear was the road ahead having no end and not being able to see the future; that was the most painful thing.
Ye Sihan turned around, looking down on her from above, “A deadline? Indefinitely.” Having said that, he stepped up the stairs, pushed open the door, and left.
The door automatically clanged shut with a snap.
Tang Yu’s body slumped against the wall, her hands trembling as they touched her neck.
Indefinitely?
She absolutely didn’t want to continue being tormented by Ye Sihan like this.
Waiting for Ye Sihan to let her go was less likely than getting far, far away from here!
In the following days, Ye Sihan did as he said; the same thing had to be done once a day, sometimes twice.
To retaliate against her in this way, what was crucial is that Ye Sihan had the power, which was very frightening.
The timing was unpredictable, morning, noon, before getting off work, or at any given moment in the secretarial department during overtime—whenever he wished.
Then, the unlucky one would be Tang Yu.
By Sunday, Tang Yu thought she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
But that evening, while she was reading books and looking at picture albums with the children, she received a call from Ye Sihan.
Upon seeing his call, Tang Yu’s body tensed subconsciously, reminding the kids that mommy was going to take a call and to be quiet.
Then she hurried to the bathroom with a look of panic to answer the phone.
Before picking up the call, she turned on the faucet, causing the sound of running water, fearing any careless sounds might be overheard by the children.
“Hello.”
“Come out.”
“Is there something you need, Mr. Ye? I… I am taking a bath.”
“Then you’d better wash your mouth out well. You have five minutes.”
Without waiting for Tang Yu’s refusal, he unilaterally hung up the phone.
From his words, it was clear what Ye Sihan intended to do.
Tang Yu hadn’t expected that he wouldn’t even spare her the Sundays.
Li Xue was still out for work and hadn’t returned, so Tang Yu had to tell the children she was going down to the supermarket to buy them some snacks and that they should behave and not run around.
The children responded sweetly in their milky voices.
In this regard, Tang Yu was still reassured, as it was often like this in the past, just that there used to be a monitor.
She still needed to install a monitor in the house.
Just as she approached the car door, a hand reached out from inside, pulling her in, like a claw extending from the darkness, dragging her into the abyss…
After it was over, Ye Sihan pinched her chin, lifting her face up, and the light from the street lamp outside refracted in, falling on Tang Yu’s solitary face, pale and shattered.
The man swallowed by darkness stared at her face, coldly emotionless, “Your ‘technique’ has really improved.”
“You’re just doing this to torment me…” Tang Yu’s lips trembled as she spoke.
“What, do you want it?”
Tang Yu shuddered, “No… I don’t…”
Ye Sihan increased the pressure in his palm, eliciting a cry of pain from Tang Yu before he spoke in a low voice, “You’re nothing but a tool. Do you understand your status?”
Tang Yu wanted to nod, but remembering her head was held in place, she could only say, “I understand. Mr. Ye, can you let me go back now? It’s very late…”
“If you hadn’t made any demands, perhaps I would have let you go. Now, do it again.” Ye Sihan’s face came fractionally closer, the light gliding over his sharply defined jawline, terrifying in its intensity.
“No… it hurts.” Tang Yu struggled against his hand, resisting.
Ye Sihan grabbed the back of her neck forcefully, his voice threatening, “Resist again, and I can make you hurt even more!”
“No, I’ll do it, I’ll do it!”
Tang Yu hurriedly agreed.
How could she let Ye Sihan strip away her last shred of dignity and uncover the secrets within?
It was better… better to strive harder now.
Tang Yu couldn’t fathom how a man could be so aggressive, as if he never needed to rest at all.
In fact, she had experienced it three years ago, hadn’t she?
She had almost died on that bed!
In the end, only after Ye Sihan was satisfied, did he let her go.
Tang Yu got out of the car, and only after the Rolls-Royce disappeared into the night did she dare to cry to her heart’s content.
Squatting by the roadside, she vented her inner pain.
She didn’t know how long she had been crying.
