Chapter 51: Chapter 51: I Still Have to Break in
Chapter 51 -51: I Still Have to Break in
Tang Yu crouched down and hugged them, “Are you being good at school?”
“Yes!” The little ones chorused in their milky voices, sounding so adorable.
Then the sharp-eyed four tots noticed the band-aid on mommy’s chin.
They recognized band-aids; mommy had put them on when they were hurt.
“Mommy, what happened here?” Zhengzheng asked.
The four tots immediately quieted down, looking anxiously at mommy.
Li Xue also noticed, “What happened?”
Tang Yu smiled easily, “It’s nothing, just a scratch from some glass.”
Li Xue didn’t dare say in front of the children, would it have cut her neck if it’s a bit off? That’s too dangerous!
“Mommy, puff puff, pain pain fly away!” The four tots all pursed their lips and blew at the band-aid.
“Ah, it’s so much better, it doesn’t hurt at all, thanks, my babies.” Not only did Tang Yu’s wound stop hurting, but even her spirit felt healed.
Tang Yu and Li Xue were preparing dinner in the kitchen.
Li Xue’s phone buzzed, she dried her hand and pulled out her phone, opening the breaking news sent by a friend.
Tang Yu saw Li Xue staring at the phone motionless and asked, “Is everything okay?”
“Big trouble!” Li Xue showed Tang Yu the screen with a hint of excitement, “Luo Bingbing is in big trouble!”
Tang Yu took a closer look. The report detailed Luo Bingbing’s diva behavior, even including a video interview with an assistant.
It was the assistant who drank the coffee she bought, candidly telling the camera how Luo Bingbing bullied the staff.
This was followed by a video of Luo Bingbing putting a trash bin on the assistant’s head.
Tang Yu and Li Xue, watching the video, were not surprised by Luo Bingbing’s behavior.
All the comments below were cursing Luo Bingbing; even her fans didn’t dare to speak up, after all, with the evidence plain to see, how could they defend their idol?
It was just that Luo Bingbing had always been like this in the entertainment circle; why had it exploded now, who had she offended?
Li Xue puzzled, “This ordinary assistant had such courage to expose the big star Luo Bingbing?”
After pondering, Tang Yu said, “The real person behind the scenes should be Ye Sihan.”
“Usually, Luo Bingbing loved to show off her relationship with Ye Sihan in front of us. I’ve even seen Ye Sihan in Luo Bingbing’s resting room. Never would I have expected Ye Sihan to be so heartless when tired of her play.” Li Xue sighed. “How did Luo Bingbing offend him?”
The wound on Tang Yu’s chin throbbed faintly.
‘Damage my things, and you must pay a price,’ what Ye Sihan said in the hospital—the one who would pay the price turned out to be Luo Bingbing.
Indeed, it was harsh enough.
“Though I think Ye Sihan is ruthless, I can’t deny Luo Bingbing has reaped what she sowed. The wall falls and everybody pushes; it’s truly satisfying.” Li Xue said.
After dinner, Li Xue and Tang Yu played hide-and-seek with the kids.
The kids were overjoyed. Xibao clung to mommy’s leg and refused to let go, looking adorably dull, “I’ll hide here!”
Tang Yu laughed, “How can you hide here? Find another spot.”
Haohao came over and directly pulled Xibao away.
Li Xue pretended to be the Big Gray Wolf, “Are the little rabbits hidden? The wolf mommy is coming~”
The ringing phone on the coffee table belonged to Tang Yu. Junjun, who was well-hidden, immediately jumped out, “Mommy, your phone is ringing!”
“I found Junjun first!” Li Xue pounced over.
“…” Junjun blinked with wide eyes.
Tang Yu smiled as she went to get her phone. The call was from an unsaved number, but she recognized who it was instantly.
What was Ye Yuli calling her for?
Did he not take the hint from last time?
She didn’t want to answer the call but was afraid he would keep calling.
Glancing at Li Xue and the tots still playing hide-and-seek, she stepped outside, “What do you want? I told you I don’t need you to meddle in my affairs.”
“Sure?”
“What are you trying to say?”
“Just a kind reminder that tomorrow night is Zhao Xing’s death anniversary.”
Tang Yu froze.
Zhao Xing was Ye Sihan’s mother, her death anniversary.
As the daughter of ‘the mistress who rose to wife,’ Yu Zhaohui, could she escape this ordeal? If Ye Sihan was under fire, would they let her off easily?
Li Xue came out and saw Tang Yu looking panicky, “What happened?”
“Tomorrow is Ye Sihan’s mother’s death anniversary, and I want to hide away for a while.”
Li Xue instantly understood, “Hide where?”
“Sister Xue, do you have work tomorrow? How about we go to the countryside together? We’ll come back the day after tomorrow.”
“Sure, let’s go together!”
Tang Yu got leave from school, and bright and early, she and Li Xue took the kids back to the countryside.
The tots and the two mommies were so happy to be out and about.
They rented a sedan because going back by bus would take three hours—too much time spent. The sedan could save half the time and was less troublesome.
Four little faces were glued to the car windows, curiously watching the outside world.
When they got tired, they slept in the mommies’ arms, their little faces cutely flushed in their sleep.
Ever since her grandfather passed away in high school, Tang Yu had been living at school.
The house in the countryside was deserted, its walls mottled and weeds at the door grown high, with moss covering the tiles.
She only came back to clean it before preparing to go abroad.
By then, no one lived there anymore, and her gambler father’s whereabouts were unknown.
Looking at the scene, it was clear her father had never returned, and whether he was alive or dead remained unknown.
As soon as the four little ones arrived at the new place, they looked here and there curiously.
The first thing Tang Yu and Li Xue did after entering the house was to start cleaning; otherwise, there was dust everywhere and nowhere to sit.
Although it was the countryside, the house wasn’t small, so they cleaned only the necessary areas.
By noon, Li Xue continued cleaning, while Tang Yu went to cook.
The chickens that ran over from the village were seen by the four little ones for the first time, and they excitedly chased after them.
After a nap, Tang Yu took Li Xue and the children to play in the bamboo forest and experience nature.
This was something they couldn’t see in the city; the air was exceptionally fresh.
Tang Yu quickly dismissed this notion from her mind.
She had been to the Ye Mansion, where the environment was even better and the air of higher quality.
Today felt like fleeing for their lives, yet even more heart-stopping than actual fleeing.
Hiding in the countryside was more concealed than in the city; there was no surveillance here, so Ye Sihan would not be able to find them.
Tang Yu tried not to think about the purpose of coming here and took it as a trip.
Night fell early in the countryside, and families went to bed early.
After dinner, Tang Yu also went to bed early with the children, but they weren’t sleeping yet, playing on the bed.
As Tang Yu was playing a finger game with Xibao, her phone on the bedside table rang. She froze, as if sensing something, nerves taut.
Xibao’s eyes lit up at the sound.
“Mommy, I’ll get it!” Haohao said, his short little hand raised, taking Mommy’s phone to her.
When the phone was in Tang Yu’s hands, the incoming call was marked: Mr. Ye.
Tang Yu’s heart skipped a beat, not daring not to answer. She signaled to Li Xue with her eyes while getting off the bed and then ran outside to answer the call.
Li Xue told the four little ones, “One, two, three, statue, you can’t move or talk.”
Outside the door, Tang Yu respectfully pressed the answer button, “Hello, Mr. Ye…”
“Where are you?” A cold, low voice, impossible to ignore, with an oppressive feeling.
“I’m in the countryside, is there something you need?”
“Did I allow it?” Ye Sihan’s voice grew even more dangerous.
“Otherwise, shall I go back now? Doesn’t seem like I can, there’s only one bus in the morning; I’d have to wait until tomorrow,” Tang Yu sounded troubled.
After she finished speaking, a suppressed silence ensued on the other end, and soon the call was hung up.
Tang Yu let out a tense breath. It should be okay now, right?
Fortunately, she had cleverly run off here. Otherwise, how terrifying would it be to still be in the city at this moment.
Looking into the distance, all she could see was darkness, occasionally hearing the whistling of the wind through the bamboo forest.
A chill went through Tang Yu’s body, and she quickly returned inside.
“Are you okay?” Li Xue asked with concern.
“It’s fine,” Tang Yu shook her head.
“Sister Xue got startled!” Junjun exclaimed excitedly.
“Ah, I lost,” Li Xue laughed.
The bed wasn’t big enough; they had cleaned two rooms, with one adult accompanying two little ones to sleep.
Tang Yu drifted off to sleep in a daze but soon woke up with a start, feeling as if there was something in the house, after all, it had been so many years without anyone living there.
She turned over and grabbed her phone; it was just after ten o’clock.
Xibao and Haohao were fast asleep, unaffected.
She put down her phone and continued trying to sleep.
Just as she was about to close her eyes, the quiet night outside was abruptly pierced by the sound of a car engine.
Tang Yu raised her head, looking towards the window, as a strong light swept across the curtains.
This was the countryside. Could it be a car from a nearby villager’s home?
Only, the car sound had stopped right at her doorstep.
Tang Yu sat up, puzzled when suddenly someone knocked on the door, making her hair stand on end.
“Who… who is it?” She walked out of the room, approaching the door.
“Open the door.” A voice low and devilish.
Alarmingly familiar, as though etched into her bones, Tang Yu was struck as if by lightning, her mind blanking out in an instant.
It was… Ye Sihan.
He… he had come.
Was it not just her imagination? How did he find this place, somewhere even navigation systems struggled to pinpoint?
The sharp gaze of the person outside seemed to penetrate the door, knowing that Tang Yu stood just a barrier away, and the enigmatic, cold voice rang out again, “Or do I need to break in?”
