Chapter 65 -65: Why Haven’t You Come Back Yet?
Meng Jilin arranged a very private place for her, and when she went, all the registration and paperwork were done under Meng Jilin’s name.
Even the female doctor was waiting for her early on; she simply needed to go straight to the plastic surgery department and lie on the small bed.
She pulled down her pants, revealing a flat and tight lower abdomen with a scar stretching across it, roughly seven or eight centimeters long.
Tang Yu’s skin was naturally beautiful and had healed well.
But even so, due to carrying multiples, there were still some stretch marks on her skin.
“Is it okay to remove the scar?” Tang Yu asked.
“The incision from your cesarean section was very well handled, don’t worry,” the doctor reassured her.
“Can the stretch marks be removed?” Tang Yu asked again.
“That won’t work, the stretch marks are in patches, unlike the surgical scar,” the doctor stated with certainty.
So, Tang Yu didn’t say anything more, deciding to first remove the surgical scar.
After the anesthetic was administered, half an hour later Tang Yu woke up, and the scar removal surgery had already been completed.
“Take a look, are you satisfied?” the female doctor asked.
Lifting the sterile towel from her abdomen, Tang Yu saw that the surgical scar had disappeared and her skin felt smooth to the touch, which was a pleasant surprise.
“I’m very satisfied, thank you, doctor,” she said with a smile.
“You’re welcome, it’s not like we’re not charging you,” the doctor joked.
Tang Yu smiled and continued inspecting her abdomen from different angles, ticking off one of her worries and significantly easing her stress.
If only she didn’t have the stretch marks.
Leaving the plastic surgery department, she went to find Meng Jilin in general surgery to thank him.
Her gratitude was not just for the scar removal but also for helping her keep the childbirth a secret.
“Have you ever considered leaving the capital? After all, you can’t hide this sort of thing forever,” Meng Jilin reminded her.
Tang Yu nodded, “I know, I will leave.”
“Will you tell me before you go?” Meng Jilin asked.
Knowing she wouldn’t return to the capital after leaving, Tang Yu still promised to inform Meng Jilin, “Yes, I definitely will.”
Meng Jilin was about to say something when another deep voice interrupted, “Definitely what?”
Tang Yu’s heart panicked subconsciously; she turned around and stared blankly at the approaching man.
Still wondering, with her mask on, was she recognized?
Ye Yuli’s gaze swept back and forth between the two of them, his eyes stern and inspecting.
“Why are you looking at me?” Ye Yuli said to Tang Yu, “Do you think I can’t recognize you?”
Tang Yu resigned herself to the fact that Ye Yuli must have recognized her by her voice.
“What are you doing here?” Ye Yuli asked sharply, his penetrating gaze scanning her.
Of course, Tang Yu couldn’t reveal her purpose for visiting the hospital and didn’t want to answer, so she retorted, “Why should I tell you? I haven’t even asked what you’re doing here!”
“Cold.”
Tang Yu’s lips under her mask pursed slightly, not wanting to continue the conversation. She was just about to say goodbye to Meng Jilin and leave when her cellphone rang.
While taking out her phone, she said to Meng Jilin, “I’ll go first; I’ll treat you to dinner later.”
“Okay.”
Turning to leave, Tang Yu saw the incoming call on her phone was from herself, which meant it was Sister Xue calling her.
For some reason, she had a bad premonition.
She answered, “Sister Xue, what’s up?”
“Ye Sihan called your phone!”
“What!” Tang Yu’s steps halted abruptly.
“I didn’t dare answer!”
“I… I’ll come back right away! Check the entrance of the complex to see if there’s a car belonging to Ye Sihan.”
“Okay!”
After hanging up the phone, Tang Yu was about to take off when her arm was grabbed.
She turned her head and glared at Ye Yuli, “What are you doing? Let go!” She struggled free and ran off in a hurry.
Running out of the hospital, she stood by the roadside hailing a taxi, while also booking one through her phone, hoping it would arrive quickly.
After waiting for two minutes, Tang Yu stamped her foot impatiently.
Her phone was at home, which meant she had to be there too! Otherwise, it would arouse Ye Sihan’s suspicion! After all, who leaves home without their phone?
A car sped towards her and came to a screeching halt in front of her.
Tang Yu thought it was the car she had called, so she opened the back door and got in.
Once inside, she said hurriedly, “Driver, take me to…” But as she saw the silhouette of the driver in front, her voice trailed off. She leaned forward slightly, disbelief in her eyes. “Ye Yuli?”
On closer inspection, this was clearly not the ride-hailing car she had booked but a luxury vehicle!
She was so flustered that she hadn’t even noticed!
Without a word, Ye Yuli stepped on the gas, and the car shot out.
“Hey, let me out of the car!” Tang Yu was infuriated.
“Seeing as you’re in such a hurry, isn’t my car a timely rain for you?” Ye Yuli asked calmly, one hand on the steering wheel, eyes fixed ahead.
“I don’t want to be in your car!” Just after Tang Yu finished speaking, her phone rang again. It was Sister Xue calling, and she answered.
From the other end, Sister Xue said, “Ye Sihan’s car is right at the entrance of the complex! What do we do? You need to hurry back!”
Tang Yu’s heart raced, anxiety reaching its peak.
She had to dismiss the thought of asking Ye Yuli to let her out. After hanging up the phone, her hands rested on the back of the seat in front of her, and she changed her tone when she spoke to Ye Yuli, “I can take your car, but send me to the complex in the shortest time possible.”
“Is it about Ye Sihan?”
“He doesn’t allow me to go out at night,” Tang Yu said with a flicker in her eyes, skirting the issue.
“Is that all? What if he finds out you were at the hospital?”
“No!” Tang Yu panicked. “You can’t tell him!”
“What were you doing at the hospital?”
“Meng Jilin is a high school classmate of mine. I’ve visited him several times, so I stopped by to see him when I was passing through,” Tang Yu said ambiguously. “Please don’t tell Ye Sihan.”
Ye Yuli glanced at her in the rearview mirror, neither agreeing nor declining.
“Hurry up! The longer Ye Sihan waits, the worse off I’ll be!”
Ye Yuli’s face was grim as he pressed the accelerator to the floor.
Unprepared, Tang Yu’s body was thrown back into the seat, “Ah!” The terrifying force of acceleration made her eyes widen.
Especially when she looked out the window and saw the blurred streetscapes flying by.
Tang Yu had never seen Ye Yuli drive this fast before when they were together—it was racing speed. Why did she feel like the passenger side Ye Yuli seemed in a bad mood?
But she didn’t want him to slow down either, for Ye Sihan waiting at the complex’s entrance was even more frightening!
So throughout the ride, Tang Yu’s hands clung tightly to the safety handle by the door, and her forehead was dripping with sweat.
Ye Sihan sat engulfed in the blackness of his seat, almost one with its darkness.
His fingers fidgeted with the silent phone, while his dark and deep eyes pierced through the car window, looking towards the entrance of the complex.
Suddenly, the car door opened automatically, and Ye Sihan stepped out, exiting the vehicle.
He strode familiarly towards the building where Sister Xue lived, entered it directly, pressed for the elevator, and the doors slowly opened.
Ye Sihan stepped in, the doors closed, and the elevator ascended to a designated floor.
At this hour, the children were asleep. Sister Xue paced anxiously in the living room, clutching her phone.
Why wasn’t she back yet? Could she even make it back?
Although Tang Yu had finished her scar removal surgery when she called, it was a twenty-minute cab ride from the hospital to here.
She only hoped that Ye Sihan, having not found Tang Yu, would leave on his own!
Just as this thought crossed her mind, a knock on the door sounded.
