Chapter 130: Chapter 118: Mom, a young lady is flirting with me!_1
January 21
Friday morning
The weather was gloomy, a faint mist shrouded Qingyan City, people embarked on their daily grind, obviously, this sentence was just to fill in the word count.
This morning, Tang Qing took another leave of absence.
The reason being that ever since the establishment of Sky Eye Consultancy, he, as the boss, had never shown up. Yesterday evening, Dou Jiao complained about this over the phone while reporting her work progress. Considering that he indeed had matters to discuss with Dou Jiao in person, he decided to pay Sky Eye Consultancy a visit early in the day.
Currently, Sky Eye Consultancy isn’t as busy as Sheng Tang Apparel and doesn’t operate businesses externally. Naturally, there’s no need for overtime on weekends. This is why he chose to visit today. According to Dou Jiao’s "big-shot" personality, if he dared to ask her to work on the weekend, she would surely complain endlessly.
Tang Qing wasn’t the unreasonable type who would force his subordinates to work overtime. Sheng Tang Apparel’s current bustling activity was due to the tight schedule of its initial setup plan as well as the ’enthusiastic drive’ of the management. If overtime could reflect a Manager’s ability and attitude, then it would be bloody absurd. Since he had nothing else to do and would merely be reading extra-curricular books at school, he might as well take a relaxing break to breathe.
After finishing breakfast.
Tang Qing, accompanied by Sun Chao, arrived at the Tianyuan building located in the city center. It is the tallest commercial office building in Qingyan city, with a total of thirty-eight floors. The facade is made of light blue glass curtain walls. During the summertime, it would have been a spectacle of light pollution, regardless of whether this was due to the design or the material of the outer wall. Today, however, as the weather was dim, it didn’t seem as ’dazzling’ as usual."
The huge logo at the entrance informed Tang Qing that this building was developed by Liu Qian’s company. Tang Qing couldn’t help but admire him. As expected of a big boss, he had a myriad of businesses, which Tang Qing found quite enviable. At the same time, he whimsically decided that in the future, wherever people existed worldwide, he would plant his company’s advertisements. He vowed to install an advertising board even in the middle of a desert, and not to miss out on either the Arctic or the Antarctic. He decided not to advertise on seas though, to avoid causing disputes by hitting ships.
As Tang Qing got out of the car and headed towards the main entrance of the building, Sun Chao didn’t follow him in but went to wash the car instead. It was clean and tidy in the morning, but got splashed with mud at a road construction site.
Tang Qing also changed his clothes in the car. Going into the office in his usual student attire would seem ridiculous, wouldn’t it?
Alright, no more fooling around.
The main reason was that he thought he should look a bit more formal. After all, he had to maintain some ’dignity’ being a boss, right?
Upon entering the building, he encountered a bustling lobby. Everyone was rushing about and some people were even running. Watching the office workers—all dressed in formal business suits—squeezing onto the elevator, Tang Qing’s mind was a whirl of mixed emotions. He recalled how, in his previous life, he used to work from nine to five, often having to do overtime. Now, as a boss himself, wealthy, powerful, and with many people at his command, he was pretty much a winner in life. Looking at the crowded elevator in front of him... Tang Qing got carried away by the crowd before he could finish his train of thought.
Did you think being a boss meant you wouldn’t have to squeeze into an elevator?
Tang Qing felt like crying but had no tears.
Darn it, he was actually swept along by the mob. It appears he arrived too early; it’s currently the rush hour for work, so you can imagine the congestion in the elevator. 𝙣𝒐𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝙘𝙤𝙢
But that wasn’t the reason for Tang Qing to complain; he wasn’t so finicky as to make a scene just because he had to squeeze into an elevator. The key issue, the most critical problem, was that instead of being surrounded by ’waves’, he was surrounded by men. What happened to the promised romantic encounter and ambiguous flirting? Not a trace of those was to be seen.
Furthermore, a mixed odor of various body smells, even foot odor, was rapidly transmitted to his brain through his highly sensitive nose. The sour sensation... Agh...
Next time, he’s definitely not coming this early. He’d rather climb up the stairs.
People often say "the early bird catches the worm," but the hell with it, anyone who wants to can go eat that worm. It was really unbearable. He couldn’t even block his five senses now; the system said that this functionality would be available after unlocking the second-level gene.
Tang Qing could only endure for now, taking a deep breath and holding it in.
"Ding..."
Soon, he reached the eighteenth floor.
Tang Qing hurriedly dashed out of the elevator and took a deep breath of fresh air. To his surprise, he found that he didn’t experience any discomfort despite having held his breath for over two minutes. However, this surprise of his lasted briefly and was immediately thrown to the back of his mind. Having experienced much already, such a minor change could only incite a few fleeting seconds of incredulity.
Tang Qing looked around. According to Dou Jiao, they had rented one-eighth of this floor. Initially, Tang Qing thought he would need to ask for directions but then he saw a large Sky Eye Consultancy sign right at the elevator entrance. In addition, there was a cute green arrow. If he didn’t know better, he’d think they had rented the entire floor.
"Such a show-off, that Dou Jiao!" Tang Qing grumbled.
Following the direction of the arrow, Tang Qing spotted at the far right end, their company’s base, marked by an even larger signboard. Damn, what was the point of having a directional arrow here? What a waste. But then again, thinking about how this spot was probably arranged through Dou Jiao’s connections, he decided to let it slide. It was only a bit of money after all.
As Tang Qing approached the company’s base, the sharp-eyed receptionist immediately greeted him with a professional smile, held her hands at her waist, and greeted him slightly bending forward :
"Hello, may I ask who you are looking for?"
Tang Qing couldn’t help but marvel inwardly, the receptionist’s voice was really pleasant, calm, and gentle.
The receptionist was obviously new to the company and didn’t dare to slack off with any visitor. Her smile also gave Tang Qing a sense of professionalism. He nodded approvingly, thinking to himself that Dou Jiao’s perfectionism was kicking in again. This receptionist must have undergone professional training. It was impossible to be this good with just a few random training sessions. Although there was not much business yet to have a receptionist, she did help to save face.
"Hello, Miss, I’m here to see your Miss Dou," Tang Qing said with a smile. He was currently just a student himself, and the lady obviously looked over twenty. So, it was normal to call her a sister. And for the ’Miss’ term, it wasn’t necessarily his intention to be cute, it just slipped out.
Alright, he was influenced by a video on Bilibili from the future.
The first video he watched on Bilibili was ’Gokuraku Jodo’ by three Japanese girls. The video had totally brainwashed him. He kept watching it over and over again, along with another brainwashing otaku dance, ’Togen Renka’, by the same group. These two songs and dances had really poisoned him. Whenever he was bored, he would watch them a few times. Like a drug, he couldn’t stop. It was a dreadful cultural invasion. He wished there was another dance...
The phrase that stuck out most in his memory from the comments in the video was:
"Mom, Mom, a lady in the video is flirting with me."
From then on, the term ’Miss’ was imprinted in his memory.
"Do you have an appointment?" the receptionist asked curiously. The way he addressed her seemed like a child would, but she didn’t take it to heart and politely asked while simultaneously admiring him, thinking, "He’s so handsome, just a bit too young."
"No, just tell her Tang Qing is here," Tang Qing said with a smile.
"Alright, please wait a moment," the receptionist nodded.
"Mmm." Tang Qing responded.
The receptionist said a few words on the phone and then hung up and said with a smile, "Sorry to keep you waiting, our Miss Dou will be here soon, please wait a moment."
"Mmm."
But this wait was unexpectedly brief, Tang Qing barely finished talking when he heard Dou Jiao’s loud voice and the corners of his mouth twitched. The company was really too small, a few steps, and one was across the office.
"Little boss, you finally graced us with your presence," Dou Jiao walked over and playfully hit Tang Qing’s shoulder as she complained.
"Wasn’t it you who asked me to come?" Tang Qing asked with a bitter smile.
Dou Jiao had become slightly more ’brazen’, but he liked this atmosphere. Everyone in the office was serious about their work. Life needed some fun, some strong flavors, some light, a mix of everything to make life interesting.
"So, if I don’t call for you, you won’t come, is that it?" Dou Jiao asked, hands on her hips, seemingly miffed.
"No no no, of course not, how dare I, please forgive me, Jiao Jiao," Tang Qing quickly admitted his faux pas.
Dou Jiao, slyly grinning, took a step forward and pinched Tang Qing’s cheek saying, "Good boy, knowing to admit you were wrong. Let me pinch your cheek. How do you take care of your skin? It’s so good that we women are jealous. No, I want to touch it more."
Tang Qing was speechless, there were people around, he wanted to save face. But he didn’t dodge her, he let her pinch and touch him happily, he loved seeing her look of envy and helplessness.
The receptionist giggled, now aware that the young man was their boss. Seeing how the general manager ’toyed’ with their boss, she couldn’t help but feel the company was a place full of love. She too had noticed how good Tang Qing’s skin was and considered getting a feel herself, but of course, she wouldn’t dare, at least not yet, she vowed to herself to make sure to touch his face once they got to know each other better.
After pinching his face for a while, Dou Jiao stopped her ’vicious assault’ and walked Tang Qing directly into the office. Along the way, Tang Qing noticed all the busy employees. Without introductions, Dou Jiao took Tang Qing straight to her office. He didn’t even have his own office in the company, which was at his own request. It was enough to have an office in Sheng Tang Apparel. That place was big and nice, having an office here would be a waste.
Dou Jiao poured a glass of purified water for Tang Qing and then plopped down on the office chair. Tang Qing naturally sat on the visitor’s chair across from her.
Tang Qing looked around Dou Jiao’s office. It was only about twenty square meters, not very large. The office supplies were also nothing fancy, showing that Dou Jiao was economical. On one side, there was a huge file cabinet filled with quite a number of file boxes. Tang Qing nodded, this company’s main business was intelligence analysis and information research and compilation. The main ’product’ was information. He had mentioned earlier that some important documents needed to be backed up in paper format. Seeing the rapid growth of these paper files, Tang Qing knew that the day to relocate the company wasn’t far off.
This was also a miscalculation he had made earlier. Running an intelligence agency definitely required a large space for storing various files and analytical data. The most important thing, of course, was to back up electronic data. Paper files were just an important precaution to avoid anyone sabotaging the operation and thus taking the company back to the stone age.
There was also a large safe for storing the most confidential information.
Well done.
PS: This is the first Chapter of the weekend. I’ll try to update five Chapters today as promised. I had previously promised to add three more Chapters, but I didn’t have any spare manuscripts, so I have to work doubly hard. Also, a big thanks to the reader Tranquil Dao for the generous tip, thank you for your support!
