Chapter 240: Chapter 240 Bad Idea
Wen Yun was heartbroken for Tong Yaohui. Thinking of the incident, she angrily said, "How old is Yaohui? Tong Zhiyuan and Lin Jinwu hit him so hard it landed him in the hospital. Is this how brothers should treat each other? If there weren’t laws now, would they have beaten him to death that day?"
Because of her intense emotions, her body was trembling. She loved her husband!
Her husband, proud all his life, had never been bullied by others. But now, he had been beaten by his own brother and brother-in-law. For the last few days, Tong Yaohui had lost his appetite and hadn’t been able to sleep. He had become visibly weak.
If their daughter hadn’t come to visit, her husband would still be wallowing in his misery.
"Mom, don’t get too worked up, try to calm down." Tong Yao worried that Wen Yun might get sick from her anger, hurriedly put down the apple in her hand and tried to soothe her mother.

Tong Yao’s sharp words left Tong Sikui speechless. He had noticed Tong Yao as soon as he entered the room; however, he was preoccupied with his father’s situation and had no time for her. He never expected her to have become so articulate since her marriage, with words spewing out like bullets from a machine gun.
Even he, a salesman, couldn’t handle her.
Seeing Tong Sikui at a loss, Lin Shuxin, who was standing to one side, laughed and changed the topic to Tong Yao.
"Is this Yaoyao? Only been a few years, but you’ve become so beautiful, I almost didn’t recognize you. Yaoyao, I heard that your uncle got you married off to some country doctor. How are you doing with him?"
Like Tong Sikui, Lin Shuxin noticed Tong Yao as soon as he entered the room. He was particularly stunned by her beauty. His cousin had always been pretty but her features have matured over the years.
Those large, sparkling eyes were particularly captivating!
He truly wondered if her uncle was out of his mind or if Si Chen had somehow trickled him into arranging this marriage. Her cousin deserved better than a man with no background from some backwater village.
Given her beauty, she could easily be a superstar. If not a millionaire, she could have at least found a local from Kyoto, couldn’t she?
What use is a man from the countryside?
The condescending tone and demeanour of Lin Shuxin was seen as flirtatious by Wen Yun and Tong Yaohui. This immediately soured their moods even further.
Wen Yun immediately stepped in front of Tong Yao, blocking Lin Shuxin and Tong Sikui’s line of sight.
Tong Yaohui scolded even more harshly, "Lin Shuxin, stop with your antics. Don’t pollute our sight here."
"Uncle, don’t be angry!"
Lin Shuxin quickly looked away from Tong Yao and tried to explain himself, "Uncle, I was just worried about Yaoyao. What good does it do to marry some country man? Even after doing manual labour for ten to twenty years, they won’t be able to afford a house in Kyoto. Yaoyao would only suffer living with him. I think they should just divorce. It’s not anything rare these days. Some people even divorce when they are on their eighties."
"My boss is single. Although he’s not much to look at, his family is well off. If I could set them up, Yaoyao would have no end of money and won’t have to suffer in some rural area."
Everyone knew that Tong Yao was strongly opposed when her uncle wanted to get her married to a man from countryside. They even tried to dissuade her uncle but to no avail. Knowing that Si Chen was nothing more than a countryman and no formidable opponent, they even skipped her wedding, even downgrading their respect for her uncle’s family.
Even though her uncle was talented, he was already retired and had no successor.
Knowing that Tong Yao never truly wanted to be with Si Chen, he intentionally tried to instigate her. If Tong Yao took their side, no matter how furious her uncle became, it would be useless.
This thought crossed Lin Shuxin’s mind, but he made one mistake; Tong Yao was not the same person she used to be, she had already developed feelings for Si Chen.
Tong Yao poked her head from behind Wen Yun and spat at Lin Shuxin, "Lin Shuxin, even at your young age, you engage in disgraceful behavior. Ahchen and I are doing quite well, we don’t need your concern. Instead, you might want to spend your energy visiting your father in the detention center."
Tong Yaohui, infuriated by Lin Shuxin’s comments, grabbed a pillow from behind and hurled it at Lin Shuxin and Tong Sikui. "Get out! Get out of here immediately!"
Wen Yun was also quite upset, continually muttering, "What kind of people are these?"
Tong Yaohui’s anger sent Lin Shuxin and Tong Sikui packing. They had intended to negotiate with him, but everything had backfired. They didn’t achieve what they came for and had instead infuriated Tong Yaohui.
As they walked downstairs with their heads hung low, Tong Sikui blamed Lin Shuxin, "Why did you have to bring Yao Yao into this? You know how precious she is to uncle. Now look at the mess you’ve made."
He had always thought that the more people they had, the easier the problem would be resolved. But who knew his cousin would be even less helpful. Now they had not only failed to resolve the issue but had also completely offended their uncle. He didn’t know what to do.
If a few days in jail would resolve his father’s case, it would be alright. The serious concern was if this would result in a criminal record, affecting their future prospects. It wasn’t just their generation that would be impacted.
"How was I supposed to know uncle was going to get so angry?" Lin Shuxin was baffled. "Didn’t Yao Yao formerly despise the idea of marrying into the countryside? But now it seems she’s settled down. That being said, she’s even more beautiful now than before, even prettier than a superstar."
Tong Sikui sneered, "Once a woman is married, doesn’t she have to settle down to live her life? She’s been married for several months now; there might even be some ’activity’ in her belly. What other choice does she have but to settle down?"
Now the problem was that their uncle was unwilling to reconcile, and he was notoriously stubborn, hard to persuade. Now that they’ve upset him, things were even harder to handle.
"Let’s get our mothers involved!" Lin Shuxin came up with a cunning idea. "One’s his sister-in-law, the other’s his sister. I refuse to believe he’d dare to throw a pillow at them."
