Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Looking for Trouble
Song Yu was in a difficult position, his face uglier than if he had swallowed several pounds of feces. On one hand, there is his wife, and on the other, his sister-in-law. Regardless of whose side he took, he could never win, and he didn’t want to end up in a worse position.
After some consideration, he turned to Si Xiaohui, suggesting, "Xiaohui, you were the first to start hurling insults, your sister-in-law hit you as a result. You should apologize to her promptly."
"Are you even a man?" Si Xiaohui was fuming, landing rapid punches on Song Yu like raindrops. She clawed and scratched him aggressively, complaining, "You really can’t even defend me when I’m hit, what good are you to me! You’re so spineless."
Despite Song Yu’s best efforts to dodge, his face and neck were still scratched, clearly showing that Si Xiaohui held nothing back. Song Yu didn’t dare fight back, but he tried to explain his situation.
"If you were arguing with strangers, I would definitely help you fight back. But this is our sister-in-law, and we are family!"
Song Yu wasn’t particularly capable, but he wasn’t stupid either. If he offended Tong Yao, it wouldn’t be good for him.
If he hit Tong Yao now, Si Chen would definitely come to beat him up tonight, and he might be kicked out of Kyoto. His relationship with Si Xiaohui would be over too.
Unfortunately, Si Xiaohui was too impassioned, she couldn’t see things clearly. She thought that just because her uncle was nice to her, she could be as proud as a peacock in the family.
Didn’t she think that Tong Yao, who ran several milk tea shops, would not tolerate such insolence?
Lin Fengying, troubled by the constant bickering of the two, reached out to pull Si Xiaohui’s arm and tried to soothe her, "Xiaohui, stop it."
The daughter was clearly no match for her daughter-in-law. Lin Fengying recognized this but was too timid to confront Tong Yao directly.
All she could do was to suppress her anger.
Unfortunately, Si Xiaohui refused to listen to her and pushed her away to continue her scuffle with Song Yu.
Tong Yao stood aside with her arms crossed, watching the farce in front of her with a cool expression. As long as Si Xiaohui was not dragging her into the chaos, she could create as much noise as she pleased. When she was tired of it, she would naturally leave.
Of course, this matter was far from over. She would talk to Si Chen about his sister’s behavior in the evening. In the future, if Si Xiaohui gets married, she shouldn’t blame her for not showing any further concern. no𝚟𝚙u𝚋.c𝚘m
Tong Yao was not one to suffer in silence. Since everyone regarded her as a useless chicken, she wouldn’t shamelessly spend money on others.
Anyway, Si Xiaohui won’t get any benefits from her in the future.
"What happened?"
Zhou Lei and Gu Hongwei entered the shop one after the other. Zhou Lei, who did not recognize Si Xiaohui, was shocked when he saw what was unfolding before him, assuming that a couple was quarreling in the store.
However, Gu Hongwei recognized Si Xiaohui and Lin Fengying. Having heard about Si Xiaohui’s previous incidents, he guessed the identity of Song Yu. He calmly walked past the two of them and greeted Lin Fengying.
"Aunt Lin."
"Ho-Hongwei," Lin Fengying awkwardly smiled and quickly stepped forward to pull Si Xiaohui and backed her off from Song Yu, "Stop it, Hongwei is here."
It was one thing to make a fool out of yourself in public, but doing so in front of Gu Hongwei was way worse. If word got back to the village, how could she face anyone?
The villagers’ gossip could drown her house.
No matter how good Kyoto was, Lin Fengying still had to return to her hometown in Li City when she got old.
Si Xiaohui, who was initially struggling with Song Yu, froze when she heard that Gu Hongwei was here. She slowly turned her head, and when she confirmed it was indeed Gu Hongwei, her initially angry expression instantly changed. Her face flushed red in embarrassment and shame as if she desperately wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
Although she was married to Song Yu, Gu Hongwei was her first love, the one she couldn’t have. It was because she couldn’t have him that she settled with Song Yu. Now, seeing Gu Hongwei again, she couldn’t help her heart from racing.
She quickly tidied up her clothes and hair, her aggressive demeanour replaced by a docile appearance, like a timid rabbit, she softly greeted, "Brother Hongwei."
"Hm," Gu Hongwei responded with an expressionless face, taking no more notice of her than a passerby. His indifferent manner made Si Xiaohui tense up, regretting her previous tantrum.
Now that Gu Hongwei had witnessed her embarrassing behavior, she wondered what he would think of her.
Seeing Si Xiaohui’s infatuated gaze toward Gu Hongwei, Song Yu felt as though he were wearing a massive green hat. To establish his ownership, he took Si Xiaohui’s hand and asked, "Xiaohui, is this your friend? Why don’t you introduce him to me?"
He then turned to Gu Hongwei, "Hello, I’m Xiaohui’s husband, Song Yu."
Looking at Song Yu, who was covered in scratches and trying to introduce himself, Tong Yao’s lip twitched slightly. No wonder Song Yu and Si Xiaohui ended up together, they really were two of a kind.
Gu Hongwei nodded, "I’m Gu Hongwei, from the same village as Aunt Lin."
He deliberately avoided mentioning Si Xiaohui’s name to distance himself from her as much as possible. After responding to Song Yu, he went to work behind the counter.
Zhou Lei followed. Knowing that they all knew each other, he touched his nose, trying to reduce his presence.
Si Xiaohui, observing Gu Hongwei’s cold demeanor, her light dimmed instantly. She angrily brushed off Song Yu, blaming his quick mouth for frightening off Gu Hongwei.
Si Xiaohui’s behavior also irritated Song Yu, his face darkening as he felt another layer of green form on his head.
Seeing this spectacle, Lin Fengying no longer had the face to stay anymore. Pulling a long face, she said to Tong Yao, "We just came to see you and Xiaochen. Since Xiaochen is at work and you are busy, we’ll head back first."
Upon hearing this, Tong Yao, rather than trying to retain them, bluntly responded, "Mom, next time you come, please don’t bring Xiaohui. My shop is small and can’t accommodate such a big Buddha as Xiaohui."
Si Xiaohui’s eyes bulged out, ready to explode, but when she saw Gu Hongwei behind the counter, she swallowed her angry retort.
With an angry glare at Tong Yao, she turned and stormed out of the shop.
Privately, she was convinced that Gu Hongwei’s indifference towards her was due to Tong Yao meddling in their relationship.
Before this, she had given up on Gu Hongwei. But now that she saw him again, her repressed feelings started bubbling up uncontrollably. She couldn’t help but compare Song Yu to Gu Hongwei.
Song Yu was inferior to Gu Hongwei in both looks and education. She suddenly had some regrets about getting together with Song Yu.
If only she hadn’t gotten together with Song Yu and started working at the milk tea shop, maybe she and Gu Hongwei would have developed feelings for each other over time.
This thought, like a seed, once it takes root in your heart, it will start to grow wildly. No matter how she looked at Song Yu, she found him displeasing.
Lin Fengying noticed her daughter’s change in mood, but couldn’t say anything in front of Song Yu. She had planned to talk to Si Xiaohui once they got home, but to her surprise, the minute they got home, Si Xiaohui locked herself in her room and began to sob uncontrollably.
